This video is spot on. Anyone who has ever owned a previous Mercedes or BMW is well aware of what going on with these vehicles. Has nothing to do with the vehicle being entry level, the cars are just getting way shitier. Since when are huge door gaps an "entry level" feature? Mercedes Benz used to have pride behind their cars. The kid is absolutely correct, 10 years ago this car would be considered unacceptably inferior as a MB product. The way these cars are put together nowadays, you can touch most of the plastic in the dashboard and itll flex with the slightest pressure. What's next, an entry level MB with passenger manually winding windows, right? Overall accurate video.
Yep. 16yo complaining about Mercedes in amanner "they don't make them like that anymore"... He can barely read, probably can't write, but pretends to be a car expert..
Remember, this is basically a coupe version of the a-class. And these cars a meant to be entry-level Mercedes, as you mention. They could have made this super luxury, but then it would be at a much higher price point. And then you lose the whole idea of a entry level car
Completely rubbish statement 6 years after they redesigned the car. A-class is totally a different car than the CLA and is performing way better than some high end luxury cars out there.
guys let stop talking shit! first of all how much is a CLA??? IT CHEAP comparing to other Mercedes-Benz come on guys, CLA it for middle class people who love Mercedes...
But I like to rub my legs and it's so CHEAP lol... *the bitching continues in the next episode, don't miss the bitching it gives you the energy you need*!
Why didn't dad buy him an S class then? Mercedes are coaxing younger people to their brand with the A class. But not 16 year old children who probably don't even shave yet. 99% of this age bracket don't have 40K to buy this car. i also don't spend my time fondling the lower parts of my doors, cos my hands are usually on the wheel, driving. This is a one or two person car, perhaps with two small kids. Not meant to be for cruising with your teenage mates. This video seems to be just a reason to nitpick for nine minutes.
Alex G: Quality does not matter to those whom seek to be materialistic. A CLA for 33k is rather cheap for what you're getting, a Mercedes Benz badge. The CLA is not a car, it's a symbol. It shows people you can afford a 'luxury' brand. Sure, at 33k you don't get a fast engine, a sunroof, or even LED headlamps, BUT YOU GET A BENZ. It's all economics. Why drive a Toyota when you could be driving a Benz, right? We see the value in not paying so much for nothing but a badge, but they don't, so let them be.
Alex G: To me and you they look ridiculous because we know cars, but to the common people they're driving what the U.S. economics considers a luxury brand, and until you understand that it's not the car they're buying, it's the badge, this car will always look like a piece of shit dug up from and old Honda factory with a Benz logo on it. I would choose to put my same amount of money in a car with luxury features and not the luxury brand.
You're obviously Asian. When WESTERNERS buy a Benz they expect QUALITY, which is what Mercedes cars have always been known for. In my family we have driven a couple million KMs in Benzes from the 60's till NEW and there has been a very noticeable decrease in quality. An "entry level" Benz perhaps had no options (4spd manual, manual windows and door locks) but quality was still solid and impeccable.
This guy is rambling on and on about all the "cheap" about this car, but when you look at the pricing the CLA (base model) is very similarly priced to a Toyota Camry XLE or a Honda Accord EX-L 2.4 liter (keep in mind EX-L isn't even the highest trim for the Accord, nor does it have the V6). When you can get a Mercedez-Benz for the same price as a higher end Toyota Camry or Honda Accord and have a lot of the same features, it's a great value in my opinion.
But that is the whole point. A Mercedes should never have an ENTRY level car that competes with Accor and Camry. That's a disgrace to Merc's. CLA is a great car but it's not a Mercedes man.

Hi max, im from Colombia i have a CLA also, but mine's a 180( 120hp, 200nm, FWD, 19 inch AMG wheels from factory). And i have to say that US, spec cla s look kind of cheap inside. I have to say that im really happy the only thing that i have to complain is that fells a little bit under powered, and the suspension feels, a little bit too hard for our roads. Here in colombia the cla180 is the only model we have(besides the cla 45amg), and we dont have any options other than window tint... the final price for the car was about 40k in us dollars. You're 16 years old. Start paying rent /mortgage, gas, electricity, trash service, baby sitting, groceries, car insurance, health insurance, clothing, (student) loans, a little money for entertainment and see how much is left. After you pay ALL of your ADULT bills and you still have enough to afford one of these, you will feel very lucky and not complain. I might have missed some expenses, but you get the point. You're still in high school, so I'll cut you some slack, but you're delusional to life after you move out of your mom and dad's house--it's no cakewalk and creditors are not very forgiving.

The newer CLA250 and A Class have a very nice interior for what it is worth but that is to say in 2020 a 30-35-40K car does not get you much. I am going to tell you young people a story "when I was your age", in 1987 I was 24, my first brand new car that I leased was a M3 which at that time sold new for around 33K 35-40K about 30-35k was the average for a M3 back then, in today's money adjusted for inflation that is around 75K. Back when I was young it was cheaper for Americans to fly to Germany and buy a BMW or Mercedes in Germany and ship it back to the U.S., not by much but a couple thousand off the sale price was worth the plane ticket. I ordered a S class through Mercedes European delivery system a few summers ago and it was amazing to go back to Deutschland. I have many memories from when I was a young soldier stationed in Europe, I try to go back a couple of times a year but all of this COVID mess has screwed up my holiday plans. Times have changed. now the Japanese and Korean brands that use to be cheap are now just as expensive (or sometimes more) as European brands. Thank you for reading my comment, have a blessed day.
Beanjuice this is an entry level Mercedes, but It's a Mercedes it's meant to be superior to begin with. For the price this car demands something like a self suspending Bonnet should be standard
It's below entry-level if you ask me. The C-class is the true entry-level of Mercedes. This car is for those who can't afford a Mercedes but want to say that they have one. BMW has done the same with cars like the X1 for example. They make more money and you get a glorified Corolla. You can't bash Mercedes, you get what you pay for
Carlos N for 30k you can get a much better Camry or accord than this with nice options and reliability. Camry and accord will out last one of these any day.
I was watching this and was like that stuff doesn't bother me, until I saw the damn gap in the doors. A Camry doesn't even have that in their entry level vehicle. Shame on Mercedes-Benz
Let’s be real. This is a very entry level car that costs less than a top spec Accord. So sure, features will be missing. And criticizing a small car for being small? Come on!
Firstly, understand what you are purchasing. If you've not done your homework, then don't blame the manufacturer ... blame yourself. Secondly, if you believe only RWD is the best, then I challenge you to shop other world-renowned vehicles such as SAAB 900/9000 (pre-GMC) which are proven FWD in snow and much better handling than this vehicle. Overall (after only 2 points), you've very little knowledge of vehicles and should most likely not complete auto reviews. Will look forward to your comments well after you've accomplished this minimal fact. Cheers.
RWD in general drives nicer, and every other benz in the line up is based of a RWD chassis besides the cla for a reason. And sure its better in the snow....... It doesn't snow where I live 360 days of the year. Maybe a saab 900 is better handling than this, Not better than a entry level c-class though, Even from a few years ago.Maybe you need to learn something about cars..... or go drive some more of them.
My opinion: where was a CLA ten years ago? Nowhere. The CLA is a new type of series of Mercedes for people who wants to have a Mercedes but don't want to pay at least $50,000 to get a decent C Class.
It is made in Hungary for Mercedes that’s why they reduced rear compartment space and height, engine compartment hood rod support, small boot area, no spare tyre!! Hardly any space in engine compartment which makes accessing headlights, wire harness and sockets very difficult. Add to that very poor housing for headlight bulb.
Hey, I am from Germany and I know many German produced cars very well (BMW, Audi, Mercedes, Porsche, VW). I can say you this: In Germany, it has the reputation of being a women's car
There is one secret you forgot to mention... This car has Renault engine, all cheaper cars from Mercedes has Renault engines. If you want real Mercedes engine then you have to buy AMG.
Every thing said in this video is spot on this is why I sold both my CLA250 and my BMW 328i. If I am paying so much money for a car (even if it is entry level) at least have audacity to take your time and make sure every single piece of the car is thought out correctly and finish perfectly. Respect the badge cause it's not the badge carrying all of the luxury and name it's the car. To know that Lexus is not becoming the Mercedes of today is horrible and Cadillac is not now on top of both BMW and Mercedes Benz .. It's now Cadillac and Lexus in comparison.
I think dads like this car the most. It's a relatively cheap car but it has a Merc badge so the spoiled 16 y.o. son can't complain about not getting a Benz as his first ride!
This Mercedes is like a luxury counterpart to Toyota and Honda vehicles which are very reliable that people don't care for looks and would rather have reliable transportation . So I don't know how reliable this Benz is, but this Benz copies the hell out of those two big Japanese cars and tries to sell a grade above them. So that is why this is different from the rest of the Benz line up. It aims for standard Toyota and Honda cars rather than BMW's, Lexus's, and Audi's.
I like this car BECAUSE it's not a "true" Mercedes. To me, the higher the price, the worse the value. To people with limited car budgets, this car is a godsend
in my opinion this car is one of the best options out there no power seats is a lil bit weird now days even for a Hyundai but because of this MB a whole lot of others brands have been forced to make better cars cuz REMEMBER at the end of the day is a Mercedes-Benz
Passenger seat can be automatic too, was an option. Seats are more comfywith the alcantara leather option and seat package. These lifts for the engine hood cost like 20 bucks if its important for you... . Space in the backsseats? Its a coupe bro....
The CLA is called a baby-benz or budget-benz. The way you talk is unacceptable. Mercedes is not Rolls Royce. You get what you pay for. The cheapest benz is like 20k. What do you think you're getting for that money? Quality because it is a benz? You're funny bro
Mercedes Benz is not THE luxury brand. It is a brand which offers a lot of cars. Some are cheap and some are frickin luxurious. People expecting to see no plastic or cheap structuring on a 20k Benz are ignorant. You get what you pay for. You can buy the best Toyota corolla with all the options for less money than you can buy a entry level Mercedes in the same class. You still don't compare it. The majority of people buy a new car with the upgrades they want. It's your own fault if you buy a cla and cry about luxury.
Why in the world is anyone questioning the quality of a $30,000 Mercedes? Did you think you were going to get a luxury car for $30-$35,000? Commonsense here people. If you can't afford a real Mercedes-Benz don't buy one.
BornInfinite87 very true, i got the new e350 last week and boy what a fucking beast of a car. And quality everywhere you look. no cheap or hard plastics anywhere, except on that back part of the middle armrest but who cares about that. that car cost me 81k euros but its worth ebery penny! want quality? then u gotta put up the money for it
You're obviously Asian.
100% agree i own a cla 200 since 4 years now and its a great car. Great handling and very safe. And what did this guy expect if you want everything to be luxorious and everything perfectly finished off buy a S class.
Since you love Mercs, you should, as you said, remember it's an Entry Level vehicle. Outside of the gaps in the interior, nothing you have pointed out validates "it's not acceptable on any vehicle with a Mercedes badge". Theyre meeting a market niche, not what you think they should be or have for that price. Now granted there are other vehicles with more bang for your buck, but it's still a Merc and a cheap one at that.
These days owning a Mercedes is NOT what it was in the past, but ironically people buy a Mercedes for what owning a Mercedes was in the past... And Mercedes exploits this. Now really, when so many afford a (cheap) Mercedes you can forget about showing your wealth owning a Mercedes.
FWD is for money saving. First it's a lot cheaper in terms of drive train and suspension. Then you get a lot more space in the trunk and in the second row if it's FWD. In order to be price competitive and space competitive to other brands it has to be FWD. The same is with the BMW 1 series.
CLA is a good alternative to CLS for people who don't have enough to buy a more expensive car. Mercedes decided to cut costs on the useless things like the non-spring loaded hood, and I think it's a really good car nonetheless. You spend 30k on a car, you get a 30k car. Simple as that.
you sure as hell have never driven the 190D, then you'd realise that Mercedes isn't all about the luxury but about quality build, also i agree with everything @Iridium725 said
You can hold the parking brake control while opening the door - brake won't engage automatically. This is a safety feature for those dolts that let their cars roll away.
You got like the lowest trim for a cla250. Ive rented one recently and it had the passenger side el. controls, but with 15 different adjustment and 3 modes to set the seat i don't see how you cant adjust it to be comfortable. Your complaining is like someone complaining why should they put a seatbelt on and to top it off, This is a 30-35k car brand new. If you want a nicer one,go get a 2016 S550 for 100k.
Dude for an 16 year old you complane alot about this car try driving an 1994 toyota corolla that is 26 years old. No safety features no cruise control and non of what you complane about.

I was watching this and was like that stuff doesn't bother me, until I saw the damn gap in the doors. A Camry doesn't even have that in their entry level vehicle. Shame on Mercedes-Benz
Some of the highest end Benz have those gaps. Hell even tesla has them. I've always been a little partial to gaps!
Let’s be real. This is a very entry level car that costs less than a top spec Accord. So sure, features will be missing. And criticizing a small car for being small? Come on!
If Anton Yelchin’s car had that auto parking brake feature he would still be alive today.
I can say you this: In Germany, it has the reputation of being a women's car
thats why you don't get a poverty spec merc
Commenting about poverty cars but your profile picture is your Renault👏🏻👏🏻 round of applause for the fuck wit
farginator775 thats my old car mate
There is one secret you forgot to mention... This car has Renault engine, all cheaper cars from Mercedes has Renault engines. If you want real Mercedes engine then you have to buy AMG.
Nope, only the 180d and 200d are renault. For example I have a cla220d and it has a mercedes engine.
You could of avoided this video had you just added a bit more for a C Class.
This is a nice car , i love the interior and the model , my dream car
It’s definitely a great early car but dream car is a bit of an exaggeration
I think dads like this car the most. It's a relatively cheap car but it has a Merc badge so the spoiled 16 y.o. son can't complain about not getting a Benz as his first ride!
What did you expect from the cheapest Merc?
The gas mileage is great. Perfect commuter car!! 36 mpg Very stylish!! Bang for your buck
111915 528518 this car looks good
The CLA is made in Hungary along side the GLA and not in Germany like all other Mercedes sedans (the SUV's are made in the USA).
He's not complaining he's more of informing viewers about the not so good of the cla.. If he didn't like the car he wouldn't have brought it
Wtf is this dude babbling about😂😂😂...this a well made beautiful car.
What would happen if you where speeding down the highway and someone opened the door by accident?
Well I drive I CLA and I feel totally spoilt- it is an awesome car - great value
Bro at 16 and owning a merce......BE GREATFULL.......Not many ppl ard ur age could afford a merce man....Be Greatfull....
2:50 that is Audi quality
Passenger seat can be automatic too, was an option. Seats are more comfywith the alcantara leather option and seat package. These lifts for the engine hood cost like 20 bucks if its important for you... . Space in the backsseats? Its a coupe bro....
I got a feeling he got jealous after seeing his friend's latest BENZ😅😅
The CLA is called a baby-benz or budget-benz. The way you talk is unacceptable. Mercedes is not Rolls Royce. You get what you pay for. The cheapest benz is like 20k. What do you think you're getting for that money? Quality because it is a benz? You're funny bro
Mo Farkouchi If you want quality, then you pay for an S class, not a CLA
Mercedes Benz is not THE luxury brand. It is a brand which offers a lot of cars. Some are cheap and some are frickin luxurious. People expecting to see no plastic or cheap structuring on a 20k Benz are ignorant. You get what you pay for. You can buy the best Toyota corolla with all the options for less money than you can buy a entry level Mercedes in the same class. You still don't compare it. The majority of people buy a new car with the upgrades they want. It's your own fault if you buy a cla and cry about luxury.
Tyler Durden a class with an unimpressive interior? That's new....
Tyler Durden care to clarify what you see as shit and upload some pics? Because I haven't seen a c class with bad interior to be honest.
you want the features of an S class mercedes or what? what do you expect for 30k 😂you got what you paid for.
You won't get some of those things with a Corolla.
Bro it’s an “A Class” Mercedes!!!
You know in Europe Mercedes manufactures not just luxury vehicles!
that's why you buy an old merc, w211
Simple Car Blog I got a w203
German made Mercedes Benz doesn't have all these problems.
It's not a Mercedes, it's just a Nissan Sentra in an Adidas tracksuit.
The sound of the door closing, makes this vehicle look cheap.
BMW is known for RWD cars Mercedes is known for 4wd and Audi is known for awd and fwd.
Everything is unacceptable to you. Then buy a Fucking S-Class, G-Class, A-Class or something.
I like the hood prop I won’t ever have to replace it unlike hood lifts I prefer functionality over luxury in places like that
100% agree i own a cla 200 since 4 years now and its a great car. Great handling and very safe. And what did this guy expect if you want everything to be luxorious and everything perfectly finished off buy a S class.
This guys father bought him the cheapest CLA there was. I have a 2014 CLA 250 Edition 1 and its fully equipt
It is a real Mercedes, but you except too much from Mercedes
You'll destroy your transmission by opening door.
Cmon.... the steering wheel adjustment being manual is better than electronic. Specially because it breaks.
CLA; Cheap Luxury Automobile, they sure kept to that recipe .
I drive Dacia Jogger, it is 2/3 of the price and same built. With the same engine. Brilliant.
Why would you want soft, expensive leather where your feet are?
I love my CLA. I live in the snowblet , I would hate to have a rear wheel drive car here😂😂😂
This is still my dream car
Completely invalid argument in this video. A high-trim CLA can be in 50k plus range nowadays.
Does it put your car in park within a certain speed (like 5 or something)? Mine does it but I hope it's not at like 20 or something lol
This happens when you want a Mercedes for $40,000. But at least you have one, they are lowering the quality to compete with Toyota.
I love my CLA I could honestly care less what Mercedes purest have to say my car works for me and that’s what matters.
“It’s only as cheap as the person who buys it”
This car is an embarrassment to Mercedes. Just spring for the base regular C.
Dude you are dressed like
"My dad will sue" stater kit.
Your dad didn't bought you the AMG?
I bet you don't own a Benz my guy
@ Kenny
Neither do you I bet.
in slovenia you dont even get automatic seats on an audi a6
CLA is a good alternative to CLS for people who don't have enough to buy a more expensive car. Mercedes decided to cut costs on the useless things like the non-spring loaded hood, and I think it's a really good car nonetheless. You spend 30k on a car, you get a 30k car. Simple as that.
you sure as hell have never driven the 190D, then you'd realise that Mercedes isn't all about the luxury but about quality build, also i agree with everything @Iridium725 said
190D is much better no rattles
As for the interior I think you should upgrade to the AMG interior with the AMG exclusive pack and see the difference.
You are killing me 😂😂😂😂
your missing a lot of upgradable options on your car. but things like the door gap your correct. not acceptable
0:40
The GLA doesn't have a hood that holds itself up.
2:00
GLA is standard front wheel drive
If you can afford, Why would you go for the cheaper version, get an S class and stop wasting our time
My only complaint about this car is the turbo lag.
bro u just triggered my ocd on another level
the biggest flaws of this car is that the spare wheel eats up the boot space... :(
You can hold the parking brake control while opening the door - brake won't engage automatically.
Safety is first on every merc
This car and a man in pink shorts fit perfectly.
Car is gorgeous
