    RHCP is a band with a long life span. They're the Gen X version of the Rolling Stones. They've been around for almost 40 years and show no signs of letting up. Amazing musicians, great tunes, you've got A LOT of material to work with here.

      One day I was RE-watching this video and I saw how John was actually playing this riff.....WOW!!!!! If you pay close attention you'll see that his right hand, the rhythm hand hitting the strings, never changes. The entire riff is played with the exact same strumming, all that changes is his fingering on the fretboard. It's truly unbelievable!!! The man has mastered the instrument!! I don't say that lightly either, I've been playing music for over 40 years, Flea is one of the reasons I am a bassist! Watch it again for me, and when you do, look very closely to how John is playing this one, if you can see what I'm talking about it will blow your mind. Trust me.

    • @marksbispo
      @marksbispo 3 роки тому +3

      @@jeffffro7674 Yeah! I already saw that! It's awesome! He use the left hand to "choose" which string will be played. If you can, take a look on live version from Scar Tissue. He uses the same technic. John is a monster!

      Funny you say that, for me it's one of their weakest. To me about half of it is filler. Been a RHCP fan my entire life (I'm 23) and Idk why but SA just never clicked as much with me as BTW. That said I love all their music, especially Mother's Milk era. It's the perfect style for me as it's both heavy and funky. The vibe of that entire album is absolutely brilliant

    These guys are masters of their craft. John freusciante coming back to the red hot chili peppers was so awesome. Have you ever seen the snl performance of "under the bridge" that got him fired? Edit: they didnt fire him its just disagreements came to a head that night and John left the band apparently. My bad

      He didnt get fired. He actually quit on the Blood Sugar tour. As per Anthony's autobiography Scar tissue.

    • @Richard-Ellis
      @Richard-Ellis 3 роки тому +1

      he never got fired from the band, he left of his own choosing, much to the other guys' dismay. Frusciante mainly left the band because he didn't like the new-found fame that came with the success of the BSSM album. The snl performance was near the point at which he left the band, and he self-sabotaged the performance as a form of protest i guess / to show that he wasn't happy with the current state of the band

    • @RicosTinFoilSombrero

      @@Richard-Ellis he actually said in a RHCP book that he was just being experimental. Him and Anthony still disagree to this day.

    Jamel, as you are going down the Chilli Peppers rabbithole, it seems appropriate to suggest Jane's Addiction. Jane's Addiction is another LA band who's members have intertwined the Chilli Peppers, and vice versa, and though they didn't quite break through to the mainstream the way the Chillis did, they had a HUGE impact on the 90s alternative scene. Great songs of theirs are "Jane Says" "Aint No Right" "Been Caught Stealing" "Stop" "Mountain Song" "Three Days". Totally rad band.
