Did you do a carb clean? Obviously have you a slide stuck open. Either when you reinstalled the slide it didn't go down or the cable is holding it wide open. Let me know what you find. I'd back your idle way off, although it doesnt sound like that is your only issue. Thanks for the comment.

My idle adjuster fell out what do I do?

What causes a 300 to high Rev as soon as it turns over? I've played with the idle adjust knob and it doesn't do much.
