These bikes are the Toyota Corolla of South East Asia. They have moved nations for decades since their mid 1990's introduction as a follow on from the Honda Dream and Honda Cub. This 2015 Honda Wave 125i is now a 143cc machine pushing nearly double the power of stock and still being ridden all over.
Great modifications to an Excellent bike ! I love Honda Underbone bikes ! And amongst all the 50-125 cc bikes, I prefer the Honda Wave 125 the most. Unfortunately, the country I live in, is flooded with poor quality Indian bikes & few cheap Chinese bikes. After lot of searching, I managed to get 2 Honda Wave Alpha 100's. They are quite slow but very light & easy to move in heavy traffic. Have you ever tried a Wave 100 ? And I am planning to import a Wave 125...Do you recommend the Carburetor or the EFI ? Thanks. Pretty cool bike, but man, adjust your helmet mounted camera upwards so we can see what's in front of you, the camera is supposed to see what you see, not the bars. I've watched a few of your uploads now for the past few weeks and didn't say anything because I was hoping you'd notice and fix it, but alas, here I am 😅👌
@@johnnygeorgopoulos4072 Completely understand and please forgive me - was done on purpose to leave the footage a bit more vague for legality reasons. Most of the speed tests will be like that. Any other riding footage is purposefully more forward facing - I've just not been filming big rides much lately. I'll make an effort though! And I appreciate the feedback. I should probably do a bit more riding around on each bike - possibly as an additional video. I'm always time conscious for the end result as attention spans can be in thin supply these days. @@arifsport2rr I have ridden a Wave 100 before. I rode one from Kuala Lumpur all the way to Bangkok. Carb or EFI - both are fine. Some people don't like EFI but I have never had any issues with it.

Ah I late to the party! The memories this gave me.. My Wave125fi could go 132km/h on GPS reading (speedo meter reading almost 145km/h) stock. Only with 26mm cutting standard exhaust and unrestricted stock ECU. I think you need longer road to see your bike would go tops!

the old honda wave 110, we had in greece under a different name, it was called the "honda supra" here, and we're the only european country that got it, practically, we are the only market in europe for underbone semi automatics. Nowadays, we also have the new wave, called the "supra X", which actually meets euro 5 regulations, and we've got a domestic brand, "daytona", which build a similar model to the original, even using chinese copies of the original engine, so you can use genuine honda parts on them. Unfortunately, most brands are starting to abandon us, due to euro 5, it doesn't make much sense for them to sell their models here, as it would only be for greece,and there is no market for them anywhere else. So we're getting less and less models from honda, yamaha etc.
This is an amazing comment. I’ve known about the small bike world in Greece for many years but I’ve always struggled to find someone who understands it well and also speaks fluent English. But I’ve met some amazing people along the way that have cool bikes. Lots of stuff we never got in New Zealand. Do you have a motorcycle at the moment?
The Innova/Wave was UK bike too - both carb and injection. I'68 and have 1.5 bike. Planning on riding UK - Greece in the autumn - but not sure if I'll use the 'nova - or buy a RE Himalayan...
@@SmallBikeStuffWe also had the innova which is the wave 125d, carbureted and later with fuel injection, our most popular models were honda glx-c50, honda astrea-supra-innova-gtr 150, and all yamaha crypton models especially the 135x, even some kawasaki-modenas models, all these bikes are still common today even the cub 50 in Greece and the only newer models are honda gtr, yamaha crypton s, sym vf 125-185 and malaguti spectre 125.
I kind of miss my Wave, they are brilliant fun. My sh300 is another level of enjoyment though. I think it would be a major shock stepping back onto a Wave. They do need a screen for aerodynamics imo.
If you do get chance give it a go. Mine had to be the black one, low miles too with all the extras. I believe the pre 2016 here at least were slightly less governed by emissions. Keep up the great channel. @@SmallBikeStuff

Especially men, minimum should be 135cc. But in general the popular choice would be 150cc. Do bear in mind to avoid the rainy monsoon season though. Unless you really like riding and soaking all wet. 🤣

Thank you for the comment. 10 years ago I sold my first bike I owned in Thailand to a frenchman in Bangkok. Cool! 2019 Wave is a great model. Remember the Hurricane air filter can have a shorter service interval than the stock item. (I use the hurricane one also). For a pipe - be careful in Thailand. Stock look is best as the police can be quite strict about anything they thing is custom or aftermarket. Some thai manufacturers make stock looking pipes that are a bit louder. If Chan speed is legal - thats great. I would ask them the diameter they recommend for your bike - if you can contact them.
It was a Morin oil cooler from Webike Japan. They have them listed as discontinued for the Wave, but available for the Grom which is the same motor essentially so it should work. In all honestly it doesn’t collect oil for the cooler from the best location but it is quite nice to have.
is there a way to get good exhaust but remain quiet while keeping all performance benefits? also have you checked out old honda sonic or new honda winner? thai guys do some nasty stuff with 150cc watercooled engines, like NASTAYYY
I have wondered the same. I was looking on shoppee for more quiet exhausts for my Wave that don't limit power. Hopefully I can find something! Yeah I do follow the bigger capacity underbones. There are some wild creations out there.
Great bike and mods. I have a Honda XRM 125 here in the Philippines. I have seen max power/rpm, but I have not been able to find out what actual speeds that corresponds to in each gear. First of all thanks for watching! Some older Honda's used to have change indications on the speedometer, but in my experience they rarely lined up with real life use. The good thing about the fuel injected XRM125 is that it has an ECU which controls the rev limit. That will kick in before you could ever do any major damage. As for exact speeds, once you feel it not really accelerating anymore in that gear - which is generally a bit before redline, it's prime time to change gears. They are fairly forgiving engines. The XRM is an awesome bike!

It is difficult to hold second on a somewhat steep hill and you can run third up to 80 although fourth is ok by 60 on the level. Perfect bike for the Philippines where getting to 100 kph is more rare for me than getting to 100 mph (160 kph) in Canada where I used to cruise at that speed all the time on my RT 1200. We have a lot of very remote highways in British Columbia, with good pavement, very little traffic, no cell coverage and no enforcement, also basically no ambulance coverage either. You are on your own out there. Keep bringing us the cool older bikes.
Good question! At this stage no. If this engine ends up grenading itself one day I'll likely pursue a CBR300 engine swap. It would be a huge amount of effort. But I have seen it done before in Thailand. Not sure your oil cooler is doing much since it is mostly blocked by the mudgard. Isn't so much the ad hoc nature of the installation, it just can't breathe. I'd stick a fan on it.
The temperature readings have shown a massive drop. That whole area had a plastic cover that has already been removed. I might trim the back half of the front guard at some point but I’m happy for now.
TBH it doesn't need a lot of airflow. A decent drop in temps comes from the extra capacity alone - then the design of the radiator naturally 'radiates' hot air away
Great bike best ride comfort ever, these are a plague here in Latin America. Kinda boring in it's stock form, I stomp them all the time with my 100cc 2 stroke Yamaha Sigma. Built theyre fun AF though
They are everywhere there very true! Always stoked to have another viewer in that part of the world. The Sigma is very cool! They were called a Yamaha Mate in Thailand.
Cool bike! The one they import to the US is a retro looking thing. So ugly. And expensive. It’s like Honda is absolutely milking money from nostalgic baby boomers. The wave costs 1/2 as much in Thailand. Madness!
Ah the Super Cub 125. I get what they are trying to do - but it's definitely been the lowest seller out of Honda's newer 125 retro offering. The Honda Wave is all through South America so it's a shame it doesn't make it to shops up north!

In malaysia, it is honda future 125i, wave 125i but not much popular compared to honda wave dash 125 fi, the sporty oriented.

In Thailand your not allowed to modify the bike in any way not even a back box including putting smaller tires on but all the Thai boys do
Yeah some quite harsh rules over there which end up being ignored entirely. This bike is almost entirely Thai parts except the wheels.

Not sure your oil cooler is doing much since it is mostly blocked by the mudgard. Isn't so much the ad hoc nature of the installation, it just can't breathe. I'd stick a fan on it.
The temperature readings have shown a massive drop. That whole area had a plastic cover that has already been removed. I might trim the back half of the front guard at some point but I’m happy for now.

TBH it doesn't need a lot of airflow. A decent drop in temps comes from the extra capacity alone - then the design of the radiator naturally 'radiates' hot air away
I had a Porsche - thrashed it all over Europe - including 9 laps of the 'ring and that was fine with the oil cooler behind the full front bumper
Great bike best ride comfort ever, these are a plague here in Latin America. Kinda boring in it's stock form, I stomp them all the time with my 100cc 2 stroke Yamaha Sigma. Built theyre fun AF though
They are everywhere there very true! Always stoked to have another viewer in that part of the world. The Sigma is very cool! They were called a Yamaha Mate in Thailand.

@@SO-ff1hw that’s just hundreds of meters. Goes from 0-9 and resets back to 0 every 1000 meters.
It can have 57mm piston why put only 56?
At the time it was available instantly and the 57mm was going to be a few weeks wait.

Cool bike! The one they import to the US is a retro looking thing. So ugly. And expensive. It’s like Honda is absolutely milking money from nostalgic baby boomers. The wave costs 1/2 as much in Thailand. Madness!
Ah the Super Cub 125. I get what they are trying to do - but it's definitely been the lowest seller out of Honda's newer 125 retro offering. The Honda Wave is all through South America so it's a shame it doesn't make it to shops up north!
