The thing about Clive blaming himself for what happened at Phoenix Gate is literally a case of his unjustified feelings of guilt and self-loathing consuming him. Guilt is very rarely a _rational_ emotion. It's why "Survivor's Guilt" is a real thing. Clive blames himself for something that was beyond his control, as if he could have ever been expected to be able to control Ifrit when he was only 15 years old, and when it was his first time ever transforming into Ifrit after having nothing in terms of any sort of guidance on how to control that power (since nobody even knew that Ifrit existed at that time).
I know first-hand just how irrational guilt can be. When I was 13 I lost a friend to an accident with a stolen handgun (and it was legitimately a tragic accident, as the person who had found the gun was trying to _unload_ it to make sure it wasn't a danger to anyone, only for the weapon to accidentally discharge and hit my friend in the head), and I wasn't even there when it happened, and yet at the time I was still blaming myself with thoughts like "If only I'd been there, maybe I could have saved him." Justified or not, guilt can eat away at you and drive you mad if you give it the chance. I was fortunate enough to have a good support system that helped me through the grief and trauma, as well as the fact that my chosen methods of coping (primarily listening to music) were fairly healthy as well.
Clive, however, wasn't so lucky, as he had no support system to help him handle his feelings of guilt, rage, and grief after Joshua's apparent death, and over the 5 years that followed those traumatic feelings and the unjustified guilt just kept endlessly eating away at him day by day. It's not until Jill re-enters his life that Clive truly begins the process of grieving and healing. Jill re-entered Clives life when he needed her the most, and she saved him from the darkness that was consuming him. She restored his will to survive and live on, even if he only did so for her sake, they at least had each other, and they would face whatever came their way together. And it's that knowledge that he doesn't _have_ to face everything alone, and Jill's refusal to judge him for what happened at Phoenix Gate that truly saved Clive from his inner demons. This is why I love the bond Clive & Jill share, it's the way they literally complete and support each other, even at their lowest points they refuse to give up on each other and give each other the strength and conviction that they need to carry on.
Great analysis of Clive’s character. The pain he has in his heart is so sad but so many others share the same pain as him but have no one to help them so they suffer for years on end alone.
Afro has saved my life with this playthrough.

SPOILER: Cid did not send her head to Hugo, it was actually [REDACTED] who came later and cut off her head. They did it to frame Cid and Clive and stir conflict
I know I am just surprised that her body remained intact enough for that to happen.

i would play so many final fantasy games with this combat
I wouldn’t definitely lacking. Game is too easy not enough core skills and poor enemy design. They definitely could’ve sped up all the enemy attacks especially boss attacks you can literally go make and sandwich come back and still get out the way in time nothing is threatening in this game.
@@8minatoI loved the combat. I think they should’ve added enemy weaknesses or elemental weaknesses. It’s actually extremely odd that they didn’t since the combat was literally made with that type of system being easily implementable

I understand what ya’ll mean, while I didn’t find the game hard (some part did offer a nice challenge for me at least) I appreciate the real time combat, it could definitely use some refining, yes , but since they are trying something new, I didn’t expect the combat to be on some DMC 5 type beat, but I believe with time they could craft a combat system that may surpass that one. I will go ahead and give a try to the other final fantasy’s starting with rebirth (14 don’t count, that’s my hidden ark)

mad props for respecting the soundtrack during fights by not doing cuts and edits stopping the entire momentum, some other channels do that too much but i really like this style of both edited highlighs aswell as keeping the best parts uninterrupted

Best thing about you playing now is that the DLC for Leviathan drops on Thursday so by the time you finish the main story, you can do both DLC’s too! I personally recommend doing FF MODE which is the hardest game difficultly you unlock after you beat the game off stream. It’s worth it because you need to beat the game twice to get one of the strongest weapons. I’m just glad you love the game as much as us. And I’m ALSO glad that this series is gonna be a staple in your YT catalog. GUYS, we’re definitely gonna see Afro finish THIS GAME FOR SURE

Grew up playing FF and honestly I know we most likely won't get an FF like this but that only makes me happier because FF is always about trying to be goated and not afraid. Sometimes it hits sometimes it doesn't but you know what I like that they don't hold themselves back and rather change things up then be the same all the time for the sake of playing safe.

Maybe… I think the pure unpredictability of DD2 is more fun. The atmosphere is cooler in FF16 though.

This game is in my top 5 of all time. What an experience, and Soken is an absolute god for the ost, the tracks are genuinely stunning. It actually makes me emotional listening to songs like Away and the Eikon battle theme, truly astounding music. So happy you're experiencing this afro, truly a gaming experience like no other

This game is SO DOPE!
I got two tips for ya:
1: You should use Gouge first when you stagger enemies, there is a damage multiplier that goes up the more hits you do, maxing out at x1.50. Using a multihit move like Gouge makes your big hitting moves do more damage.
2. When the enemies reach half of their stamina bar and you get that mini break effect, grab them with Garuda to get an extra free damage period, it works on more than just giant bosses.
Is anyone else happy that Afro is genuinely enjoying a game and not raging at it??
