      Yeah, you have to ride in a predictable way when there are other vehicles around. The driver thought they had plenty of time to pull out, and they would have if the rider had been going at the speed limit. At the very least don't cry like a baby when someone pulls out on you like that.

    0:15 -- the cager didn't make a mistake, it was the two rookies speeding through traffic, past cars and other riders, who were in the wrong. And then the cammer compounded it with a scumbag move in revenge for his being in the wrong. 0:26 -- the car was signaling to change lanes while the rider was still a couple of car lengths behind him. If anything, he was trying to get out of the faster rider's way. 0:35 -- notice that the guy wants to make sure we all know that he's on a Harley. 1:10 -- that didn't hurt enough and wasn't expensive enough to make up for the danger that he put everyone else in.

    I've been riding a long time and driving too. even the most strategically positioned mirrors have blind spots to bikes - I have lost a few myself and I have been made aware of a bike's presence by its pipes. Cars outnumber you 1000:1 or more - who is a driver looking for. Their footprint is very small relatively and speed often so much greater than cars. Because of all this lane splitting is stupid risky. Part of the excitement of riding is the risks. Cars can't see you, don't expect you, you're going faster than them so your position changes faster than they expect, and you're arrogant when one changes lanes or pulls out in front of you? YOU should expect it. You might just be arrogant enough to just step out onto the interstate and expect all the cars to stop for you but you'd be stupid and you wouldn't last long. you might be in the right but you could be dead right. you safety is your sole responsibility. Grow up! Same for cyclist too

      A lot of these clips are just like that. Bikers expecting everyone else to pay special attention to them.
      I ride and I drive, too, and I am aware of the fact that a bike going twice the speed of the rest of traffic is invisible between traffic, and then suddenly it's right beside you.
      Bikers: you are invisible. Ride like nobody can see you because most of the time, you are invisible.

    It doesn’t matter if you’re a pedestrian, bicyclists, scooter or motorcycle rider, there are some good ones out there, but there are always narcissistic idiots amongst them who think they own the place and that rules or forethought don’t apply to them. Cars are often classed as a weapon (which they are) and can be handled badly, but as a biker I have to say that much of this can be avoided by being fully aware of your own vulnerability and not pushing the envelope.

  • @mhoeij
    @mhoeij Рік тому +7

    1:08, easy turn, crash caused by panic. Instead of steering, the rider simply locked up the rear brake. Very lucky to be alive.
    Don't follow faster riders, because on a bike, you can never panic.

    • @josephb.official
      @josephb.official Рік тому +1

      I actually didn’t lock up the the rear brake, i stood the bike upward and was using controlled braking hard but before the point of skidding. there is rumble strips in between the painted lines that separate the two lanes, and as soon as my rear tire crossed over them it had no flush pavement to connect to and locked up, because they’re engraved holes in the ground. unfortunate but it is what it is. as for the turn, target fixation when the first car came around the corner my eyes following it for even half a second and when u continued to look back into the turn, it was too late

    • @mhoeij
      @mhoeij Рік тому +1

      @@josephb.official Thanks for the clarification. Yes, target fixation, sometimes it's not easy to avoid.
      We know what needs to be done (push on the inside handlebar) but it's possible to forget that information during target fixation.
      To make sure that I don't forget what needs to be done, I have a trick, namely, if I enter a corner quickly, I hold my hands in such a way that my hands "know" which side to press. That way, if I target fixate, then my hand will still "know" what to do, press the inside handlebar, and as a result, the bike should still make the turn.
      We have to be determined to never cross the center line in a turn, we have to press the inside handlebar to make sure the bike goes where it needs to go.

      @@rb_la_cambrousse7653 Correct. I took 3 tests in the UK, including classroom time. Here in the US, I rode in a parking lot between some lines. 10 minutes = license.

      Blah! Blah! I smash mirrors regularly. Always an A-Whole BMW driver, they change lanes without looking and nearly kill me. For that the track-suit-tattooed 1/2 wit gets a lesson. I could stop and kick the sh1t out of them, but it won't improve their driving. Why bother.

      UA-cam view miners. 🤦 Painful how easy it is. Just go out for a ride on a busy stretch of road. Make sure you pass stopped or crawling traffic at irresponsible speeds. And you can be absolutely sure you will find yourself in one of these situations before long.

It ain't a race and the only winner is mother earth when she consumes you and your pine box after pulling some shit like that and it goes worst case. Glad yall are okay but the only way to learn is to accept your own mistakes as they are.
