Cash Money - the price ended up being $4300 with about $1000 in junk fees and prep. I told them I'd bring them cash - hand me the title - like any other private transaction - but they still wanted $653 for a doc fee. Thats highway robbery and more hidden profit for the dealer. It's TWO forms. One for titling and one for tax submission. And they were charging $25 for the sales tax form in the sales tax computation. I offered them their price on the Cost of scooter - freight - TTL - nothing for dealer prep and $100 for their doc fee. Ended up being about $3600 - and I'd bring 36 $100 bills. Or a bank check. They absolutely refused - ok - sell the scooter to someone else - but - its still for sale - 2 months later - and had been for sale for 6 months before that. A Cash deal means they hand me the paperwork - a title application - and I take it to the DMV three blocks away. It's MY time I'm wasting - hell - I would have offered to pay the TTL at the DMV too.
All dealers are the same BS artists. You're better off buying from a private owner used who has buyers remorse. Just make sure mechanically any engine sounds good.
I've reached the point where if I buy a new bike from a well known manufacturer I often don't even test ride it. I spend lots of time watching and reading reviews and researching everything there is to know about it before I ever go into a dealership to see if it feels comfortable to sit on. I mean, if it's a Honda or a Vespa or a Kymco I don't expect any real problems with it and I'll adapt to whatever characteristics it has. It did annoy me a bit that I had to adjust the headlight and the throttle cable on my new Like 150 after being charged $300 for "Dealer Prep". But 2000 miles later I haven't had to touch a thing except oil changes, and I find that I like it even more than I was expecting to. I think Kymco is the equal of any other scooter manufacturer as far as quality goes, definitely not a "Chinese scooter" as some people claim, even though some models are built in China.
I've just fallen over your channel and an really enjoying watching all of your videos. I live on one of the remote British Isles, NOT England. I test rode an Aprilia Motorcycle on one of the other Islands because there's no dealership where I live. 6 weeks after placing my order, I am flying over to the other Island to collect my motorcycle and then catching a ship to bring it back! 😲 Anyway, I love your channel and wish I had found it ages ago!
Thanks for your posting this newbie. It was a little bit easier this time for me this time. I finally decided on State 8 Cycles in Cuyahoga Falls, OH. I used to go to their other store that is now closed. I ended up getting the Lance Italia Classic 150 that was traded in from a guy who enjoys camping with his family. It seems it was only driven within a small campground only 750 miles on it. It seems that it is a fairly rare find. State 8 did that 1st year maintenance on it for me where they changed the oil and also changed the transmission oil and lube. And a slight tune up adjustment. When I got it home, I had to make a slight adjustment to the angle of the fuel pump unit since it is centrifugal force using gravity for fuel distribution and not actually being a pump. I had to break open the carburetor and used 2 cans of gumout carb cleaner to get all that stickiness out of there due to someone using that corn flakey gas containing ethanol. I used 3 cans of 93 canned fuel from rural king and 1 can of seafoam for some upper cylinder treatment and now I can finally ride without any of that bogging down and stalling out. I also found out like you did that this scooter is not for everyone as while on the stand is a little too tall for me, but on the ground it is the perfect height. I thank you for mentioning it because it is incredibly rare and mine is a 2020 model and only made that year. I feel really lucky to own it.
You go to test ride a scooter and the salesman jumps on the back of the bike and puts his arms around you and says okay let's go. That would be hilarious.
Thanks again for another great video. Great information. Looking forward to seeing your next video. Mark from Maryland I ride that scooter all year round. I'm only 8 miles from work and the route is on very back roads so going 18 to 25 mph isn't too bad . I invested in heated clothes and it's so very fun .
I have owned 2 scooters, a Yamaha QT50, about 40 years ago, and I recently purchased a 150cc Chinese scooter, new, after shipping it was $1400. I have been riding motorcycles for the last 40 years and have had several, 2 currently, an 1100 and an 800. I bought the Chinese scooter so I could carry it on the back of our motorhome but am loving it. It is a Senling 150, branded as an X-Pro Tahiti 150. Here in Nebraska there are ZERO scooter dealers. All we can do is shop online. I have no idea if it was a good choice. So far it is working out alright, with about 95 miles on it. But I have complaints. I doubt I would have bought it if I'd been able to try it, as the seat is too short and the mirrors are too. But I can live with it. X-Pro has been useless for support. But for $1400, I guess you get what you pay for.
A lot of "branded" motorcycle shops will service scooters of their brand. I take my Helix to a Honda/ Yamaha/ Kawasaki dealership and they will do servicing. Call and ask.
It's great to see another Texan sharing their love for Vespa's. I live down the road from The Motorcycle Shop in San Antonio and we bought my wife's Vespa from there. They have a great inventory. Did you end up buying your Racing Sixties from there?
Oh, you are my kindred spirit but braver than me right now. LOL! I hate the audience part for sure! This is so helpful for shoppers looking for scooter! I just happened to get mine before supply chain issues and the same here no bargaining on the price. And the paperwork was plenty! LOL! My Suzuki Burgman 400 is a 2020, then they skipped a model year and now a 2022 is starting to show up but could take months and months. Another great video, Renee!
Thank you! I have been motorcycling (is that a word?) for a LONG time…but about to jump into scooter life. I love your videos. They are amazing. I am not 100% sure what I want…probably 300-400cc…but I will most likely get a Vespa GTS for me and a Primavera 150 for my wife. We live in the DC area but will return to Texas in the next few years. I will keep watching your material. Great stuff! Cheers, Dan
Test ride everything! I am enamoured with the look of Honda minimotos but having had negative experiences with previous Honda bikes, XL 200 dirtbike and 360 Twin, I am a bit wary.
Great video. The dealer wouldn't go down on the price of my scooter, which was fine because it was the cheapest one in my area. I got it delivered to my house a week later.
I've never found a scooter dealer in Ohio who would permit test rides. So...you have to do a ton of reading and youtubing to see what experienced scooter people are saying about your scooter. NO, do not buy one you haven't sat on! Price of that "first service" might bring tears to your eyes....KNOW that price before you buy! Maybe negotiate it into the purchase!
They are fantastic! Headed that way for a service this weekend, & Jason is basically magic. I try to do business closer, but his shop is just so much easier (& nicer)!
Thanks so much for your videos! I was thinking about enrolling in a basic training course and umming and ahhing, watched your videos and you make it seem so doable, so I have got the course in September, ordered a Lexmoto 125 scooter and bought a Nolan helmet. Thanks for your down to earth advice that makes it all seem possible 💪👍😄
Here it is on the showroom floor. I Feel like it is a must have and many bikers just love that italian styling always asking if it is an aprilia or a vespa.
A great video for newbies. I was lucky when I bought my first scooter because the owner of the dealership knew me and bent over backward to accommodate anything I wanted. And back then, in 2005, his selection was expansive. But that Vespa dealership is gone and the nearest is over two hours away. You definitely touched on everything a new scooterist will encounter.
@@ScooterNewbie When I bought my first Vespa in 2005 it seemed then that Piaggio was committing to expanding the world of scooters in North America. New dealerships were opening and they were moving from a Vespa as a boutique item to something more aligned with stylish transportation. They had two paid bloggers and seemingly endless marketing ideas. But they were never able to get their marketing away from a metro-centric, cool youth style. Or understand that the people who could shell out for a new Vespa were usually not young, didn't live in Manhattan or Los Angeles, and weren't particularly interested in a Vespa as a fashion statement. It's been sad to watch the slow retraction of the Vespa brand in North America. The product is still great but the commitment to own one gets more challenging all the time. At least from my perspective here in Central Pennsylvania. I am fortunate that the former local Vespa dealer still will service and repair my Vespa. But if they didn't, it would be a long ride to get that done. And I would likely abandon the Vespa for a Yamaha or Honda scooter that I could have cared for locally. And as you are well aware, those scooters are no Vespa!
@@ScooterintheSticks Got lucky in that regard. A stand alone retail shop that was built from the ground up near me hung their sign as a Triumph dealership a few years back. Until I caught the bug to look into a Vespa, I was totally oblivious to the fact they were also an authorized Vespa dealership. They are literally a few miles ( no more than say 4 or 5 miles away) Lucky me? lol
Very informative video. So many things to consider before buying. I hope you’re enjoying your Vespa. As fo me, my riding days are over until spring most likely. Already in the 20s at night.
Just bought a new (2022) Znen 50. Good little bike but doesn't go any faster than 38mph. Have to be aware of any traffic backing up behind you but otherwise a good investment. Happy riding.
When I found my new 2018 Suzuki Burgman 650 in 2020, I found it online out of Houston. The online ad had a “Make an Offer” button. New the Bergmans’ MSRP were over $11K. I got mine for $9K + fees! When I first started buying motorcycles in 2013, it was at a mainly Harley dealer. The only bikes that were “prepped” meaning gas, oil and battery were the Harleys and perhaps the used bikes. I bought a Triumph America 865cc and got no test ride, but I made them deliver it as I didn’t have a motorcycle license. LOL
This was so helpful!! Could you do a sole video about gear and popular sites to buy gear? Also what counts as a scooter dealer? And when you bought your scooter, do they deliver it to your home?
I cant speak on the other things but I'm shopping for a scooter now and places will deliver to you. They may charge a mileage fee. I was looking to have a Burgman 650 delivered to me and the salesman at the store said that they charge a dollar a mile round trip. So it would've been a total of 200 plus dollars. When I bought my motorcycle a few years ago the store delivered it free of charge the next day or two in a Sprinter van.
Geesh, so, buy used- private. Noted. Funny thing about that, literally all but 3 scooters I've found used that caught my eye, had over 200 miles on it. Only like 10 but still, do a lot of people buy scooters then never ride them?
Your videos are so informative! I just got my first scooter, a used white 2020 Vespa GTS super 300 HPE w/1500 miles. I’m gonna follow all of your suggestions so I feel more comfortable on it. Thanks.
Love your videos. Just bought/got my 2022 Vespa Primavera 150cc (Product Red) 2 weeks ago. Got my helmet from the Vespa Dealer but got my boots, gloves and jacket from Amazon.
Thanks for your information, helmet and gloves are always good and liberating. I was wondering if you have had any chance of a Honda PCX test? I love the 150 class as it’s nimble. You are very inspiring to be safe and enjoy!
Hi, I watched your video about the Vespa, and I’m glad this one popped up into my UA-cam feed. You do a great job in describing the process and providing so much information, thank you!! I am starting the search for a scooter-and currently own a Honda Metro. It’s crazy how many choices there area!! If I can ramble for just a second...., I’m not sure if I want a flat style floor like the Vespa or Honda Metro, or a scooter that has the large hump between your feet? I’m used to motorcycles, so the hump feels more secure than empty floor space, but the flat floor space really adds a measure of convenience... any suggestions? Also I am only familiar with models like Honda, Yamaha, and Vespa, how do you find sources that will review other ones that you suggested and tell you which ones should really be avoided? Thank you
I am late to this party, but are you still shopping? Honestly, offhand, if you have a dealer to support a manufacturers warranty, I find that to be huge. I also only put the brands I feel like have those dealer/manufacturer warranty set-up. Here's an article that has more on choosing a scooter with an option to see a spreadsheet style database to help narrow down models & such. I call the scooters with a 'hump' as being sporty vs flat being classic in that spreadsheet. scootersfornewbies.com/choose Let me know if you have any questions... working on getting in here more as we enter a new year!
Extremely helpful site (blog?) I subscribed, thank you! I did purchase a well cared for used Vespa Granturismo 200. I have a little mechanical ability, so I will be replacing/changing (Variator belt, oil, vacuum hoses, etc, etc) before spring-Northern Michigan Rider. It has been hard to keep myself from continuing to look for another one though, and going both direction in size-a smaller and occasional dirt road 125-150, and a comfortable highway bike in the small range 250-300.. I live in an area where the least practical is the 50cc. Thank you again, you are kind help to those enjoying scooters!
I’m actually considering trading in my car for a scooter and naturally, I thought you would have some great insights - thanks so much for this video. I still have to work out some kinks in my plan like visiting my parents who live 4 hours away and the fact we have a dog who sometimes needs to be taken to the groomers or comes with us to my parents house… Maybe another video idea for you to add to your list, 😂
I feel like a celebrity dropped by, Sara! 😂 That’s a great idea - we are a 1 car household now… Rich is riding to his dads this weekend (4 hours away), and he keeps threatening (teasing) to work out a sidecar for the dog. 😂
@@ScooterNewbie love dogs, how big is the dog? Deliveroo sent me a large pick up box, we only have a small border terrier, I think this could be converted to make her very comfortable, if my wife ever agrees. We used to be a two car family, kids left home now just have a diesel smart car and a scooter. When I got the smart in 2009 I went back to the dealers and complained it only managed 270 miles to the tank full, I said, that's no better than my previous petrol smart, he said " it will improve with age". The most I have done on one tank of fuel is 500 miles, then I filled up with 1.5 litres left. The smart is not much bigger than a motorcycle and has a smaller engine than many. We got the smart cause we only wanted to be a 1 1/2 car family! We often take Max(our dog) and my daughter's dog, J Small Bones ( yep, that's her dogs name), to the forest, they both easily fit in the back of the smart. My longest drive, Kent UK, to Troon in Scotland, 10 hours, no stops, couldn't do that on a bike!
@@ScooterNewbie If you get a side car for the dog it is great but make sure the scooter is strong enough to pull the side car, and it would be a good idea to have a break on the side car wheel, and have it set up properly. You do not want the side car pushing the bike to the left or to much break pulling it to the right, I love side cars had a couple, but they do have to be set up, it is not a bolt on and go.
Yes! This exactly! What are you riding? I started too small for what I needed, but as a newbie I had no idea what I needed & came at it from a place of fear. Now you can’t tear my 300 from my hands.
Im currently 16 and looking for a 50cc scooter and have no idea what to look for. I dont have the money yet but im trying to educate myself before i start saving for it. :)
I can relate to not having a great selection of scooter dealers. I'm currently saving up for my first scooter early next year, and am bummed at the lack of options here. Might end up taking a road trip to a dealership that has tons of options.
@@ScooterNewbie I would most likely have to drive down to Milwaukee, which is like 2 and a half hours away. Was actually thinking about going up to Canada and checking out Daymak, but their less than stellar reviews made me change my mind.
Whew! Out the door prices are a rip off. I bought a Honda ADV this spring, msrp $4299. With no add ons, my out the door was $6100. Pure thievery. There were no other ADVs in my half of NC so they figured they could pad the price with no argument.
The fees surprised me but we drove 247 miles to get it. I just said write it up. My wife wanted the 2022 bright yellow sprint 150 with the rear vespa top case. Nothing close.
Ouch! Those fees... I am trying to put together a calculator to help folks estimate a bit better. It's a shock for sure, and I've had comments and emails with pure anger about the surprise.
This makes me glad I live in Florida. I already have my motorcycle tag. Only thing I'll pay is for the motorcycle class and endorsement. Sales tax, registration and the scooter of course. Insurance if I desire and a helmet and goggles.
Yes! Are scooters common in your part of Florida? I've been surprised in some trips there over the years since I started riding, but it seems very hit or miss depending on the area.
I'm betting that if you would have ridden a scooter to the dealers, they have granted a test ride. Even with the dealer's insurance, the time spent doing the paperwork related to an accident and the cost of not having the crashed scooter on the floor for sale are losses for the dealer. So a shiney, new "M" on a license isn't going to ease a dealer's legitimate concerns.
….one request? Can you make a short video of y’all’s Kymco AK? I am putting the AK in my spreadsheet with the Vespa GTS, Piaggio BV 400, and Yamaha XMax. Gracias!
Definitely. Anything in particular that you’d like to see or know more about? He drove a new BV 350 as a gauge for the 400, a used Burgman 400, and dismissed the Xmax wanting more oomph.
I wish, the dealers, when a customer walks in, to just relax, keep your distance, don't stare at me, don't give me advice unless I ask, don't scratch your golfs infront of my mom, let me be, until I am ready to ask for help/advice.
Thanks, maximapitko! That would be crazy neat to bump into an AK550 in the wild! I’m down south in Galveston County, & I discovered a local motorcyclist with a UA-cam channel. We had commented back & forth a few times about local restaurants, & low & behold… we ran into him & his wife at an Indian dealer in the Woodlands. 😂 Both of us were far from home, so it was funny to have that small world moment!
Okay I figured it out. You're from Houston you did go to San Antonio to buy your bike You're lucky you have a pickup truck. If I bought a Vespa it would be my only vehicle. That's going to be a problem when you have nothing to haul it. 🤔
Great vid. I am in Houston and looking for a scooter. First call to Stubb was eye opening. They seem to rob people (at least over a Honda Super Cub). Do you have a good dealer(s) for a Kymco or Buddy? Thanks for the show. BTW, I couldn't afford the V's... : (
Hey! Sorry for the delay but Kymco is a bit hard to find locally. Scootersmith was having a hard time getting them in, but they have plenty of Buddy’s! If you’re north of town, Aggieland Scoots might have a Kymco. Worth a shot!
@@ScooterNewbie Thanks for your reply. I eventually went to ScooterSmith and purchased a 2022 white Hooligan 170i. She's a good machine but the deal was a nightmare. I asked if they would take PayPal, Stephen said no but accepts VISA and MC. So on day of delivery, I used VISA, on OTD quote plus insurance. Two weeks later, I got my VISA statement showing $170+ more than the invoice. I went to the shop, it turned out that he put the VISA merchant fees on me. I argued without avail... I said if he had mentioned that when we were going through the bill, I would have written him a check. He said no checks either. Only cash. I would have gone 3 blocks to a Chase bank to get the $, only if he had mentioned that credit cards are not ACCEPTED. Well, life is too short to waste more time on him. I simply swallowed the fees that was not even on the invoice or receipt. From that, he has lost a customer! So, do watch out on Ss' game play. Thanks again. Happy riding!

4 scooters in 3 years ? Most people buy a scooter for commuting and wear them out before looking for a used one. Guess having money does that to a person.
On the other hand, most people these days pay much more for the average new car than what she's probably paid for all 4 of her scooters combined. So that hardly makes her a multi-millionaire.

I thank you for mentioning it because it is incredibly rare and mine is a 2020 model and only made that year. I feel really lucky to own it.
You go to test ride a scooter and the salesman jumps on the back of the bike and puts his arms around you and says okay let's go. That would be hilarious.
I am so not ready for that kind of test ride! 😆
Keep it up, SN! Great channel. Greetings from a Norwegian guy, scooterist for 25 years.
Thanks again for another great video. Great information. Looking forward to seeing your next video.
Mark from Maryland
I ride that scooter all year round. I'm only 8 miles from work and the route is on very back roads so going 18 to 25 mph isn't too bad . I invested in heated clothes and it's so very fun .
Thanks, Mark! We're approaching December. Are you still riding in Maryland these days?
Yes! We love that shop & drive all the way there for a Kymco at this point, too.
You’re so kind, Lori! Kindred but braver… only cause it’s probably 40 degrees warmer in Texas right now! 🤣
I love that Fiddle. Decent deal + a fine scooter = winning!
Whatever you get, make sure it has a windshield; especially if you get out on the open road.
Hey the algorithm works! I just bought a Genuine Rattler 200i
I've never found a scooter dealer in Ohio who would permit test rides. So...you have to do a ton of reading and youtubing to see what experienced scooter people are saying about your scooter. NO, do not buy one you haven't sat on! Price of that "first service" might bring tears to your eyes....KNOW that price before you buy! Maybe negotiate it into the purchase!
NO Test Ride , NO Purchase ! !
You went to a great scooter shop! Jason and family has been in business for a long time. The Motorcycle Shop is the best dealer that I've ever used.
Thanks for the kind words! It is crazy how different dealer stock looks, but then layer in the supply chain issues... It's dizzying!
20s. *shudder* I have to wait for the sun to come up to want to ride, but Rosie went for a trip to the grocery story just yesterday!
LOL
Great video..u sunmed up all my thoughts n fears.
Thanks.
Congrats on the new scooter!
This is such an informative video! And I love your fun editing like your 4 scooter shot. 😁
You’re so kind! 💕
Love your videos. Just bought/got my 2022 Vespa Primavera 150cc (Product Red) 2 weeks ago. Got my helmet from the Vespa Dealer but got my boots, gloves and jacket from Amazon.
That red is a head turner for sure!! Glad to hear you're geared up!
No BIG well-stocked dealers? There's always Scooterville in Minneapolis! Even in January...... Just a short jaunt straight North on I-35........
Short jaunt…. 🤣 We are looking into the logistics of making it up to Amerivespa this June.
NO Deals There ! ! !
Thanks for your information, helmet and gloves are always good and liberating. I was wondering if you have had any chance of a Honda PCX test? I love the 150 class as it’s nimble. You are very inspiring to be safe and enjoy!
The PCX rides great! I can't wait to hear your thoughts when you get your hands on one!

Let me know if you have any questions... working on getting in here more as we enter a new year!
Nice vid. Very informative. Thank you for sharing.
@@1960ARC 500 miles on a tank sounds like a feat! You have the fuel consumption worked out in your home!
@@ScooterNewbie If you get a side car for the dog it is great but make sure the scooter is strong enough to pull the side car, and it would be a good idea to have a break on the side car wheel, and have it set up properly. You do not want the side car pushing the bike to the left or to much break pulling it to the right, I love side cars had a couple, but they do have to be set up, it is not a bolt on and go.
dang, 4, welcome to the addiction. I'm pretty much on a 6bike rotation. It goes up and down a few but when less than 4 and I start to feel uneasy, LOL
YOU have 4 scooters!?! Oh my god
Looks like I'll be purchasing my first scooter by Friday so this really was helpful :)
Looking at either a Genuine Hooligan 170i or a Lance Cabo 200i.
Score!! What did you land on? That Hooligan is a dealer fav for sure!
why was the cabo a no? is your spreadsheet online that compares models?
Yes… check out her website. 😊
In my head you need 1 scooter and just keep adapting it for your needs
Yes! This exactly! What are you riding?
I started too small for what I needed, but as a newbie I had no idea what I needed & came at it from a place of fear. Now you can’t tear my 300 from my hands.
Ah- if you ride up on a motorcycle or a scooter, you'll likely get a test ride.....
Interesting. I will give this a go in a couple of weekends. I think I have a dealer nearby that doesn’t know me well….
Im currently 16 and looking for a 50cc scooter and have no idea what to look for. I dont have the money yet but im trying to educate myself before i start saving for it. :)
That’s awesome!! Let me know if you have any questions as you dig in.
I can relate to not having a great selection of scooter dealers. I'm currently saving up for my first scooter early next year, and am bummed at the lack of options here. Might end up taking a road trip to a dealership that has tons of options.
It's frustrating for sure! How far will you need to go for the road trip? That part can be fun when you don't have to make the drive too often.
Glad I watched this. Getting ready to buy my first scooter or 2
I have had since 1964 many scoots. From 50cc to maxi 650cc. Love scooters
Love it! Happy scooting!
You've got such a nice face, how could a dealer not allow you a test ride?
Ask what the 1st service costs up front and see if you can get that in the deal.
Awesome review thanks for sharing from Australia
Thanks for watching! It's so cool to see how big the scooter community is!
Scooters are sweet
I think I want to get A 125, not over powered for the city or under powered for the country and it's the 2nd license and insurance class.
You're doing a great job. God bless you
How do you feel about 360 Power Sport in Arlington Texas? I've been thinking about ordering from them
For an oil change is there a shop you can recommend.
Thank you for the video I am just now in the phase to start going to dealerships. Do we need out motorcycle endorsement first.
@@ScooterNewbie Not too many in my county. More so in Orlando, Daytona Florida. Tons of bike nuts in those areas. I desire a Vespa.
Where did you find a scooter safety course?? I live in Alabama haven’t had any luck
Gracias!
Dan look up the other Piaggio built scooters from gilera and Aprilia,
Definitely. Anything in particular that you’d like to see or know more about? He drove a new BV 350 as a gauge for the 400, a used Burgman 400, and dismissed the Xmax wanting more oomph.
If it was between a Suzuki Burgman 200 with 4k miles at $3200 or new 0 mile Taotao Phoenix 150 for $1500... What would you get
Suzuki. The Burgman will be like the Cadillac in comparison to any 150 I’ve ridden!
Thanks for sharing
Well done! You may have to change your name to Scooter Veteran
Thanks for the kind words! I’m working on that veteran scooterist one mile at a time!
I wish, the dealers, when a customer walks in, to just relax, keep your distance, don't stare at me, don't give me advice unless I ask, don't scratch your golfs infront of my mom, let me be, until I am ready to ask for help/advice.
Whoa! Sorry you had to deal with all that nonsense!
I’m on a watching spree of your videos. Also an ak550 owner here. Maybe we’ll run into each other around H town. Excellent content
@@ScooterNewbie the universe works in mysterious ways!
You don’t need a helmet in Texas! At least almost NONE of the Harley guys wear one, or a jacket or gloves, or boots. LOL. I wear it ALL!
What you`ll find is the mainstream companies ,ie Honda Yamaha and the like see scooters as a part of their range a small part where as vespa made everything from that the vespa and have added moto guzzi, gilera , to their product range so vespa scooters are pushed at their dealers . 4 scooters in 3 years ? Most people buy a scooter for commuting and wear them out before looking for a used one. Guess having money does that to a person.
On the other hand, most people these days pay much more for the average new car than what she's probably paid for all 4 of her scooters combined. So that hardly makes her a multi-millionaire.
in my area the BIG shock is Dealer Markup, with every scooter they have there is an added $1000.00.
