Many of the text I have see for these hymns appear to be simple but very to the point. Not sappy, not like that which is found in many "gospel" or evangelical songs. The sentimental love aspect which has crept into most modern hymnody where its a religious love song or the idea that its all about the singer and their needs as one finds in so many country western or pop songs in general is not found in the sacred Harp texts.
Some churches might think this sounds too solemn or sad but it fits perfectly with the current state of the world. They sing on behalf of the whole earth. Will it change when the Great day finally comes? I think not. This form will exist for eternity it's too beautiful to fade away.
I never thought of this before, but Sacred harp may be quite healthy for you. All those endorphins from the amazing singing and you get an arm work out at the same time swinging those books, lol.
You are a beautiful group of singers. God bless you.
Wow, I hear this this and begin crying! I can only imagine what she is feeling in the middle of that hallow square!
Isaiah 34:5
[5]For my sword shall be bathed in heaven: behold, it shall come down upon 👉🏿Idumea,👈🏿 and upon the people of my curse, to judgment.

A spiritual, and a physical, workout!
As a therapist, this is exactly why I'm exploring it now. We ALL need to be singing and this seems like the most accessible avenue.
When will the next convention be? I would like to fly over and join.
