Great rock music, Love to see this song portrayed on LIVE Concerts to appreciate it more as AP excels on that! Good tempo sound and lyrics are brilliantly written. Great guitar works of Neal as always, and AP, remains consistently amazing! BRAVO!

I was waiting for such music!
I never knew there were so many people in the music industry commenting on the Journey Freedom music - production/mixing/harmonies/vocals/etc. Wow! STFU and stop complaining. This album is great! "Holdin on" is similiar in sound to early Journey/Perry. As someone who just placed my FREEDOM order. I'm stoked! I give it a 9.something out of 10. UPDATE: After listening to the full album a number of times this week I gotta give it a 10/10 So damn good!
The music is very good, and the mixing/production is very bad. Its not that the stem recordings are bad, its the production.
Instruments are all very overlapping in the frequencies the are supposed to occupy, the levels are all over the place. Its a very sloppy mix.
This album was recorded in different places, remotely, bob clearmountain did the best job he could do in my opinion. It’s a solid album!!!!! 10/10!!!!!

Journey is my favorite band of all time and I will be forever grateful that Arnel Pineda brought these guys back from the brink in 07, even though no one can EVER replace Steve Perry, Arnel has done better than anyone could ever imagine. All that being said, in the few attempts to create new music since Arnel join in 07 nothing has really souded right. The old stuff always has been, and always will be great, but let me tell you something, even though Arnel Pineda has been the lead singer of Journey for 15 years, THIS IS HIS COMING OUT PARTY! They allowed Arnel to be Arnel and not a Steve Perry clone, and it shows! Best pure rock album in years! If you haven’t heard it your missing out! #10 on the track list (Holdin On) is probably the best pure rock song I've heard in 25 years. Taking me back to the 80's Baby!

Could be but on this track Neal's guitar is much more buried in the mix than on Hammer and Schon's albums, and the funny thing is that Neal was one of the producers of this Journey album.
@@fernandes5986 the entire cd has a muddled sound. I agree the production should have been cleaner but this song still sounds like something off Untold Passion to me, even through the muddiness
I really hope this isn't the last album, because if they have stuff like this left in the tank, then that'd really be a shame.

Love the new stuff but hope the production is better on the cd. Everything i've heard sounds a little muddy.
"a little" is being kinda nice too it. The mix of this whole album is horrendous. Walden should not have been allowed to produce; they should've kept working with Kevin Shirley.

Good songs. Just don't like the mixing. Aside from it, everything is excellent.
Cool song, but what the hell is going on with the vocal mix? They really shouldn't have let Walden produce.
I believe they were all in separate places when making this and not in a recording studio
This could have totally been on the H.S.A.S. record. Toying with the iTunes EQ can really make this record sound better. It still deserves a Rock Candy Remaster out of the box, there's killer instrumentation here, and great vocals, but the mix just isn't right.

The songs are good, and Arniel sounds fantastic, but those low harmonies just do not sound right. I don't like them. That s NOT the Journey sound we all know and love.

The music is over the vocals, is that Steve Perry doesn't sound like him but as I said I can't hear the voice clearly. I've heard a lot better

okay... deen hit it more like steve right.... this is by far i see for most of the comment here. if u ask me deen certainly got the better of steve sound here but in the sense who should carry the lead i dont really like to based it who sound steve perry more.... i dont into discrediting arnels effort to help and contribute the band. arnel is a different talent and deen too.....

Good vibe but the mix is terrible🤯 why? Hope the real album will sound better..
I give this album a 7/10. Mixing sucks. Can barely hear any harmonies in any of the songs. Arnel does a good job singing. Still a karaoke band.
