Also speak to a water restoration company before you speak to the insurance company. They will determine the actual scope before your insurance company can try to minimize. Their job is to minimize.

Roger, the subdivision adjacent to me had many older homes that had water heaters, and other leaks after the local city water company had repairs in the area and flushing their lines and psi too high created the leaks. Due to property owners insurance deductibles being more than the repair costs they couldn't file a claim against the city insurance for repair cost. Your info is worth hearing, hope I never have to use it. Thanks,

If you have an older house, make sure you get a policy with utility line coverage. MOST INSURANCE DOES NOT COVER WATER MAINS OR GAS MAINS OR MAIN ELECTRIC LINES. Anything between the curb/street shut off and your house is your responsibility, not the utility’s.
My house was built in the 1930’s. I recently had to get my water main replaced due to a confirmed leak. Instead of paying $20K+ to dig out my driveway, dig a 4 ft deep ditch from the street to my house, replace the driveway, and fix the yard, I paid a $1,000 deductible. Best $4/month extra I have ever spent.

Do you have any insurance company that you recommend? I bought my house a couple years ago and I found out that there are a ton of roots in my main sewer line. I remember seeing that my insurance doesn't cover stuff like sewer lines.
Idk if it's too late at this point that changing insurance company's would even matter or not though

@@devin3706 entirely depends on where you live. I would google “Dave Ramsey Insurance ELP” and you can have an insurance broker (totally free) find the best insurance for you in your area based on your needs.

This makes me hate insurance companies even more than I already do. Lol
    Good advice nonetheless.

As a general contractor we have delt with a fee insurance claims and we had to tell the homeowners to fight tooth and nail they will deny! They also tend to call in thoes restoration companies and the repair drags on for months to years for really cheaper quality work. They will cut any corner possible I've seen them pack 2 sheets of osb 1/2in with cardboard boxes in-between to match old subfloor as opposed to t&g like it was or at least 1 1/8 plywood. 2x2s instead if 2x4 sheetrock screws instead of framing nails the list goes on. You have to be your own advocate and monitor the work to make sure it done rightish. On a side note if you haven't already I'd like to see a comprehensive video and demo on blue monster drain banger! I want to know what to expect with it and it's pitfalls no one tests like you.
