Pretty sure it’s made of cardboard so it will disintegrate
I agree you paid for it and it should be correct. I would have had them fix it too

So glad you and your family have somewhere safe now.
Lady from Chouteau I got my storm shelter in 2008 from a business in Salina which the Salina bank told me about. No leaks and 5 years ago I had inola portable buildings build a covered area over it (not metal car port). I then placed a pavers under it. This year I put L shape walls on it. And within a month an outdoor kitchen. Shelter is 15 feet from house and now this old woman won’t slip down wet steps and won’t get wet getting to it. Got walls supply from kla-mart. I shop local if I can too. So, glad you guys got yours in time. Granddaughter and family are now getting shelter after the family had to take shelter in their hallway in Salina. My shelter/labor etc cost me 2,500 in 2008
There are a few, inexpensive things, that make a world or difference in the bunker.
- A couple of strings of battery operated led fairy lights, outlining the ceiling, provide light and cheap ambiance. ($3 ea on Temu) bonus is that have remotes to turn them on. Having light helps getting the dogs down there (they don’t want to go into the shelter and you usually have to carry them down.
- Tornados are NOISY and quite frightening to kids of all ages. $30 on Amazon will buy you a carton of acoustic foam. Glue a strip of foam on the walls to help eliminate echo and decrease the storm noise.
- a camping battery operated fan ($20 at Walmart) gives you air flow
- Hanging a shower curtain off the stairs provides privacy for a toilet area. Skip the dreadful bucket toilets. Instead get a seniors folding bedside commode, easier to clean and way more comfortable. They are not expensive.
- folding camping chairs ($8 ea at Walmart)
- quasi luxury item: interlocking rubber gym flooring tiles run $50/carton at Walmart. Makes floor more comfortable and also helps with noise.
- small battery operated blue tooth speaker for music
- obviously bottled water, granola bars etc.
Excellent ideas!🇨🇦
Do you see how big that is? A light, bucket, blankets, water snacks and first aid. That is all you need.
Good Advice!!!
😇
Great ideas. Being over prepared makes a lot more sense than just the basics.
Bike helmets
So happy you & your family will be safe. For those without basements, this vault could be their life saver.❤❤❤❤❤
Years ago someone told me people should always build the safe house for tornados above ground up on higher ground and then take a tractor push dirt over and around it and cover it so it will protect those within and if it floods they won't drown
This installation was pretty cool. Thank the Lord they installed when they did, too. Prayers for all affected.
The timing of the installation
couldn’t have been any better-
I freaked a little when I read that tornado happened not long after it’d been installed and I don’t scare very easy...
SO Glad They Got It When They Did!!!
⚪️
😳
I'm glad you and your family are finally getting your storm shelter fitted, Dutch. You will all feel and be a lot safer from those storms and tornadoes.❤❤
In the 60s we had a huge cellar. It had 2 sets of bunk beds, 2 couches and chairs. We kept drinks down there cause they stayed pretty cool down there.
The men who installed that should be really proud of the work they do saving lives. I'm glad you got one. Now you need to train Smegle to go into it. You could train him with Temptation cat snacks. Cats really love that stuff. Once they figure it out if you shake the bag they will come running.
Dutch don't own smegle kevin at hidden heights does
@@tinaljohnson9253 Oh your right. I got them confused. I'm getting old and senile I guess. They live close to each other. Maybe he could still teach Smegle to come to his shelter. I like Smegle. :)
Smegle is Kevin and Rachaels cat
as someone who is claustrophobic, that looks mighty small.
there is no price you can put on you or your family's safety. trusting that the Lord keeps you all safe in these unusual times.
I was thinking the same thing. Worry if something heavy fell onto of it.
Fellow claustrophobic! I’d have emergency Xanax in the kit for my Panic Attack
They should have got a bigger one, there's five in their family
Happy you have your shelter!
Very happy for all of you, having a bunker on your property to keep safe.
WOW this is awesome. One suggestion though is to keep it cleaned out free of bugs. That way when you need to use it you can go right in instead of rushing to clean it out. So happy to know your protected. Love y'all
We throw a bug bomb down in ours every spring & it keeps the bugs & spiders out for a couple of months.
I'm so glad you have a shelter now. Makes me feel better for you, Brandy and the girls!
Solar yard lights would be handy by your bunker. They are good when camping too.
I am so happy you got your shelter for your family. I always was praying for you all during Tornado season. Very interesting to see the installation of the shelter. Blessings always !!
Same Here-I’ve Been Praying Too, All Along...
I’m glad Dutch was there explaining as they went-there’s a bit more to it than you’d expect..
Quite a bit like singing and horseback riding, in that respect!!!
😇
Glad yo got that installed. It looks pretty tight for 12 people. Stay safe.
I LIKE THE WAY YOU TOLD THE PRICE. GOOD JOB.
Hoping to hear it
I’m so glad that you had that bunker when that tornado went through. Praise God for miracles.
Never understood why UA-camrs think voice overs are bad. I like them. This was fun. 👍😎
I can’t stand the videos with music . Voice overs are much better. Me personally “
I'm on a waiting list to get one installed. 1st they told us it would be the end of June or 1st part of July. I called this week and now they are telling me it will be the middle of August. Since we've been having all the tornados in oklahoma this spring they are all booked up. Iv called every place from Amarillo to Arkansas that I can find. Everyone tells me the same thing.
I second that.
There was a report that came out saying all new home builds in tornado alley could have a bunker installed in the home (basically a tornado safe room) for under $5,000 but they wouldn't put it in the building codes as a requirement because they didn't want to increase home prices. The cost to do it after the build almost doubled the price. Is it just me or does that seem shortsighted. Of all the "required" things you have to do this is a pretty minor cost for lifesaving return. Thoughts?
Think it's liability not cost.
I thought that after the F5 tornado went thru Moore, OK in 1999 or so, all homes that were rebuilt had to have a safe room installed. They had another big one hit a few years later that destroyed the school.
My niece and her husband built a new house a few years ago and they had a safe room built in they poured the slab..
What are the chances of a tornado hitting a house? Very low statistically. If you were to try and mitigate for every hazard with the same statistical threat, no one could afford a house. I shouldn’t be forced to spend an extra 5k on a house. My safety is my business and my problem, not the governments.
@@greghight954 There are some places where it's more likely than others. If you live in a place called Tornado Alley you chances are much higher. I live in a potential earthquake zone. In 60 years we've never had more than minor tremors but we have to build for earthquake safety. People have to put in fire alarms for fire safety etc. It's much cheaper to add it in when it's being built instead of after the fact.
Those shelters should be Mandatory for all New home Construction and Funding for Existing homes should be made Available.
Why does it take someone who's never been in a Tornado prone area to think of these things.
So glad you got that shelter in time!
I would paint the inside with waterproof foundation sealant to make sure you don't get any mold.
Im glad the company has a warranty!!
I'm relieved that you now have this storm shelter. Here in Florida, we don't even have the sirens! We have to rely on the warnings on our phones. Hurricane season starts on June 1st, which is a reminder that we will likely have more tornado warnings in our near future, too. This hurricane season will likely be breaking some records. Our roof here got damaged from a tornado during Hurricane Jeanne many years ago. Keeping you all in our prayers, from Donna in Spring Hill, FL.
Glad you have a shelter close by. Please be safe with all the storms
Good odea💛👍🤗
Thank you for showing this ive never seen it❤
So glad you folks have a shelter now.
Thanks for sharing.
So very glad you all will be safe. It got there in the nick of time.
Thanks for sharing this Dutch! Glad your family has a safe place from the outbreak of so many violent storms.
It's amazing how the operator got the storm shelter base in plus getting the top set in perfect. Look at the red dirt! I hope you never have to use it but good to have. We went to the cellar a lt when b I was growing up in South Central Nebraska.
I’m sure you and your family feel such a great relief now that the storm shelter has been delivered and ready! This has been a crazy stormy season. Have a great evening, lisa
I’m glad you had the bunker installed first. Very glad you guys were safe!
So glad you got the bunker. They are worth having. ❤
Glad you installed a shelter. Stay safe✌️🇺🇸
That was an amazing video. They did a great job. So glad you had it when the tornado hit . Stay safe. God bless you and your family.
You are so fortunate to have the bunker installed when you did.
That is so cool. I bet you all have a big sense of relief. I know I would feel so much better having one of those if I lived around there.
This is so cool! So glad y’all had it when that last storm came. When my late husband dug graves, if there’s a vault going in we dug the grave 58”. 😅
Peacock doing his job right up front! No waterproofing under the unit? Not on my time! Concrete, no matter what they tell you, is not water proof! Trash should not be in the hole. Caulk tubes attract termites.
We had a whole lot of problems with Hausner, but they made it right. Ours just started leaking, but it has been 8 years since installation. I need to get them out here to our place.
Hi Sean and Brandi I'm very happy to see you finally got your bunker. Cool watching how they do it. Take care.
So happy for your family. Now you can feel more safe.
So happy you got your own bunker.
It's good to know you all are going to be safe now!
That was informative! Thank you for sharing!
Congratulations you all needed that you all be safe now 👍👍👍
🎶 YAYYY!!!
😇
🙏🏻
Awesome. So happy for you and your family. Stay safe.
🙏🏻
So glad you have a bunker
⚪️
👍🏻
I’m so happy that you bought this!
We own one like yours. A neighbor bought a different type that's fiberglass. Ours is awesome, neighbors not much room to spread out.
We got a storm shelter just like your in the 80's and love it. Haven't had any leaks. Used it many times. I live in Durant, Ok.
Good Evening Sean, Brandi and girls! So glad you got that in time.
Absolutely!!!
⚪️
😳
Great info thanks for sharing
Well worth the price when you live in Tornado Alley!
Hi Dutch and Family. Nice storm shelter Looks like Daniel's Now to put electricity in. Will keep yall safe. They did a good job installing it. God bless and love yall ❤❤
Timing was crucial for y'all. Stay blessed and safe!
Interesting there wasn’t any drainage or added any additional sealing around where the top attaches. Yes I saw the caulk. For ventilation look at one of those USB powered desktop fan that runs on a small battery pack. It can help move the air nicely while inside it. Make sure you put screen over the vents to keep out the bugs.

👍🏻
Yes I did enjoy watching this😊 and it was nice of you to share the cost of something like this. ❤❤It is for certain a must have for all the states that are prone to tornados. Keep doing what you do and we will keep watching. Stay safe!!
I was watching Kevin and Rachel's video about going into their shelter, and I thought of you guys if you had yours yet. I'm glad to know you all will be safe now. God bless you all 💕
I Agree...
And The Timing Of The Installation-WHEW...
SO Happy They’ll Be Sade, Now!!!
😇
🙏🏻
That is so worth it, and it is something everyone needs ❤️ thank you ❤
So happy you got a shelter ,you really need one with all this crazy weather. Tornados are nothing to mess with now your family will be safe Dutch 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
so happy you now have your own shelter and don't need to go to the neighbors shelter. 🤗🤗💞💞💙💙
It is so important to have one of these in your area. Especially this year with so many already. Stay safe. ❤
Glad you got your storm shelter. Although it looks small to me for an entire family to shelter in. Stay safe .
Some people have used old school buses but before putting in ground made sure there is a soak away for water to escape and and steel frame over the bus.,but no good if water table is low in ground around it.look into it could be a summer project
Very nice and just in time.
Very interesting video. I was actually surprised at how small the bunker is. I realize that's it just for a safe place to wait out a tornado.
Living in Florida I am not familiar with tornados now hurricanes that’s different. This looks like a septic tank with a modified lid.
That looks like a burial vault
Did not hear that.
Eek.
⚪️
🙉
Yay you finally got a bunker so awesome sauce Hi Brandy and Dutch and family now you be safe iam glad
So glad yo guys got your own shelter now! I do like voice overs. They are preferable to music in most cases. Though there's a lot of great licence free music in the youtube library.
You need to mound a lot of dirt around the shelter and pour a 6 inch concrete slab over the top, with steep reenforcement bars.
God bless you and keep your family safe.
Hey Dutch, those bunckers are life savers here in Mo. too. Yup I remember when they started using the septic tanks for frady holes then they got bigger and fancyer like yours LOL Love you guys God bless you and until next time take care
Look at all that iron in the earth. Glad you have your bunker installed. I bet you feel a lot safer.
Dutch, so glad yall are putting this in. So many tornados coming through yalls area. Stay safe y'all.
🌪 Tornadoe Ready. 😊
That guy was good on the excavator . Nice shelter . Seeya
Thank God, hallelujah Amen. God bless yas
Glad you and your family have the safe shelter and it’s close to home! Watching them install it was awesome 👏🏻! Thanks for sharing, take care in all this crazy weather, and God Bless🙏🏻😁💕!
I'm so glad you guys got a storm shelter before that last tornado. It was a doozy, it hit us in the 3am hour, 5 died in our county. That being said after seeing that install, I'm thankful for a basement. It was cheaper than I intials thought it would be though. They are definitely a necessity. I hope we all stay safe through the storms, the news said they are expecting more than usual this year. I'm glad you did the voice over. God bless.
Hoping and Praying Hurricane Season won’t be This Bad...
⚪️
😟
🙏🏻
So happy to see you have your storm shelter available now.
Dutch it Looks like a septic tank 🇺🇸👊🏼👊🏼
⚪️
🤧
P-U.
I don't have to deal with tornadoes, but after seeing all how they can pick things up and toss them, I think I would have that thing buried deeper. LOL! Yep! I'm a scaredy cat! I am so glad that you all finally got the bunker, now if I could just get my son in Texas to do the same! At least I know you all will be safe and won't have to travel to Kevin's during a storm to get into a shelter. Continued prayers for all those that have suffered loss of loved ones in those horrific storms.
Same thought😂
Very nice happy for you.Praying you will not need to use it .
Septic tank is what we had…living in northern Alabama at the time we hit it often in the Spring. Ours had two doors. 1st one was level to the ground and once you got to the bottom of the stairs there was another door. I was young..it was spooky… no direct hits but one hit in 2011? Took it all out…all the new neighborhoods, everything..it was an F5… really glad you all got one…tornadoes are bad this year.
Dutch I am glad you guys had the stormshelter put in when you live in an town that has tornadoes
12 people! Geez! I'd really struggle in there!
WOW ! That was very interesting, plus it is worth the money, I wish we had one of those, now that we got our first Tornado last week, YEP I never tough I would see the day here in Canada ,Quebec 10 minutes from our place it touched down, very scary, nothing comparing to you guys storms but I got scared and now thinking I need on of those bunkers. The voice over is great I do not mind it at all. STAY SAFE OUT THERE!
Thank you for letting us watch it go in . I’m glad you had it when the tornado came . We can’t do that where we are in Florida , so they are scary . I would much rather have voice over than silence .
Just watched Kevin and Rachel. Scary and blessed they weren’t hit. Then watched Lester and the new spillway construction. Bad year with storms.
Interesting stuff most entertaining thanks. Chris from England
Glad you have a shelter. Not much of a fan of the guy putting on the sealant, and tossing the empty tubes in the hole. Dispose of trash properly installers.
I also noticed that, not impressed, guess they didn't realize they were being filmed
My thought exactly. They should take more pride in their work, especially since they were on video. Perhaps trash removal is an additional fee.
if I lived in tornado alley I'd have a mansion underground, and a lil house up top on the farm.
Glad someone else noticed this pure laziness! The guy did a sloppy job, left all his trash, and didn’t wanna fix the door???? Unacceptable!
I would’ve treated this like a basement and put water sealant on the concrete. I agree with other comments.
i am glad you finally got a storm shelter with how many times you have just missed getting hit . i know your state particularly have taken soo many direct hits in town and houses all around heres hoping they stop hitting
I was kinda amazed at the one guy just throwing all his garbage in the hole like that. But glad you guys have a shelter now.
Nice i like ti your amazing videos 😍😍🥰❤️🤗
Nice bunker ❤❤❤❤
We planted flowers around the top of ours .
