Seeing top level play like this always hypes me up to get back into PVP. The predictions, move timing, counts, and sack swaps all on display makes me remember why I fell in love with this game in the first place. I really hope Niantic fixes the performance issues with GBL soon. As much fun as PVP is, losing a match because of something out of your control (lag or a missed move or something) is beyond frustrating and I feel like that's more common than ever right now.
In a meta where gligar and skarmory are as strong as they are, a grass type is tough to use People opt for non-grass types with grass moves (like cresselia, lickitung, etc)

This game has had the most stale meta for the longest period of time I've ever seen. Even 20 year old games like WoW and League have meta shifts pretty often. Every tournament I've watched for years now everyone just runs the same meta stuff like lanturn, gligar, umbreon, etc.
Nope. The finals should consist of teams picked by officials that ref the competion. Players get time to look over the picks to stratagise, and are changed after each set.
