- These trains start running again on selected dates from Friday 24 November 2023. Other videos of these trains can be seen on admiralscorner at Bishops Lydeard, Crowcombe Heathfield and as a passenger on the train.
Yet more great memories Mike thank you and looking forward to seeing this year's lights.
I have seen it written that his could be the last time the railway does this. That would be a shame.
Sadly the Blue.Anchor web cam is not working. So hopefully will see from Bishop's Lydeard and Minehead
That Winterlights train does not travel further than Crowcombe Heathfield before returning to BL.
Wow. The WSR certainly know how to put on a show. Just a pity the driver left his cylinder cockspur open for so long. Ruined the departure. Thanks to both.❤❤
I suppose the driver isn't that concerned about those of us taking photos! He doesn't want to slip on those rails.
Something we all love playing, chasing trains. Odney Manor never let off quite so much steam on the Llangollen Railway, way back in 1989. How is she managing to do it on the West Somerset Railway?
Is it down to the driver or is there some maintenance issue I wonder.
Lovely to see these local traditions, the lights looked quite magical coming through the clouds on the other side of the bridge. And those were some fun chasing shots from the road.
And the sights at Crowcombe were good too! We got there in time to see its arrival.
I'm sure the drivers do that on purpose. Pity. But well done the WSR, it looked amazing in the platform. Nice one Mike.

We are going to watch this in 2 weeks time Mike. Unfortunately regarding riding on it. A colleague I know went on with their family told me it’s all fully booked solid. But we aren’t really intending on riding on it this time. It looks great. Have you been on it this year?
It certainly is a sight well worth seeing. We have decided not to go again this year as we have videoed it from the road, at both stations and on the train as a passenger in past years..
The WSR website shows that only a few trains are fully booked on certain specific dates. There are plenty of alternative trains at present with seats available to book.

Bloody fantastic even though you got ''steamed off''. Really excellent chasing it from the car. Must have cost a lot of money and planning. Really hope that they make a good profit and congratulations to the planners. 10 outa 10 all round.

Oh I didn’t realise the lights only go so far! Is it too expensive to run further down the line? It is magical for the little ones! I remember you getting on this - Santa is on board too! It creates lovely memories!
I am sure many would enjoy that experience from the Minehead end of the line too! Or perhaps a connecting train service.
Thank you so much for this Christmas lights train. Good old Crompton pushing at the rear. I think like other comments here, that the driver left the steam release valve open too long

I would love to see this.. and have some cooler weather. Temps high 30ºC ' s to 41ºC for about 8 days.. plus hot winds too.. Already had some big bushfires :(.
