I was a brand new older Christian. I left a dark and sinful lifestyle, i went camping by myself down to the Outer Banks. On that Sunday, I walked into a tiny little church with only about 15 people and they sang this hymn. It has been my call to action ever since. That was 40 years ago. Truly without trust and obedience, we saints cannot, will not walk in victory, joy and peace , Amen

Preschool and kindergarten class was at My Church Purpose church Pomona CA Old name First Baptist Church of Pomona CA and before it was condemned to earthquake damage we rebuilt the church on the parking lot behind it anyway we had a 1912 Gothic roman church with white pillars and two 🔔 towers anyway this song ended chapel 💒 in the sanctuary then back to class. We sang this song as we Head back to class. Trust and obey for there's no other way to be happy in Jesus but to trust and obey.
My school sings this song every Monday during the chapel meeting. This song reminds me that obedience to God's sovereignty is the only way to keep the heavenly peace in my heart.

while i love the more contemporary songs. im more drawn to to the rich theology and timeless music and meaning of hymns like Trust And Obey & Tis So Sweet. this is a beautiful rendition. i feel our younger generation is missing out on the treasures that these hymns hold by not learning and understanding them. thats why i feel its so important that we include BOTH Hymns and Modern worship songs as a part of of our Worship.

If you haven't been obeying and are Now going to strive to, than you shouldn't be "calmed". The Holy Spirit of God does not calm people in their disobedience, but precisely He stirs them to be broken and bothered until they confess and Repent that they weren't obeying but will Now turn from the disobedience and now Obey.
It is so often a most offensive method of Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit that man feels better or is confirmed amidst sin, rather than only as God gives man these feelings or confirmations. That is...After confession and repentance. The Holy Spirit is the one in the Godhead as "Helper", the worker in men's hearts moment by moment and thought by thought. And the Holy Spirit is not a lazy or derelict or anything but Completely perfect worker. Unlike men who work with fallible and ignorant and poor efforts. Men led and stirred by the Holy Spirit rightly in confession and repentance, do so precisely and with specific Pre and Post Holy Spirit conviction conditions of their heart. Not a making light or omitting especially the Pre condition, which is the tendency of the Flesh to make light of sin and move fast to the blessed/fun side of being led by the Holy Spirit.
We must stop Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit in this way.

God is a just and righteous judge. God must be legally and morally right in all that he does. His righteousness and justice will not allow Him to justify a guilty man, therefore the dilemma is how can God justify the guilty and he himself remain just?
