First time seeing a malaysian review and appreciate your honest point of view on this router and the recommendation.
I appreciate that! And do remember to subscribe! 🙏
Thanks Nasi, You videos helped me a lot making the decision which router to buy.
Great & Honest review
Nicely done review.
Thanks for your information too! It did help us discover some quirks with this router. 👏
Very Good. Thanks.
Most welcome! Remember to subscribe!
Really enjoyed your straight talking, so refreshing compared to all the American reviews!
I'm from Brazil and I understood everything that you said. Congratulation for pacient and calm. I has see this video because i import a router like that.
Crongratulatios
Thanks! I'm glad we can help 🙌
This is a Honest Review good job
I have this router, and the mesh is ok... not the greatest, but the range on this router cannot be beaten. I think you can also upgrade your wifi chip in your laptop for cheap as well to a Wifi6 chip.
good review i will buy the router to replace a TP link archer 1200
Thanks for this! I was thinking in buying this to replace mi old mi router 3g v1, but i think i pass of this huawei.
great review!
Glad I could help!
Hi. Nice review. Which router do you recommend then for almost the same price range?
Hi, does this AX3 work with Huawei Q2 Pro mesh wifi packs? Means using it with the Q2 Pro, we get to extend the wifi without having to have separate wifi names and it enables seamless switching of network when you are nearer to the satellites right?
Any idea of the number limit of these routers that can be used in a mesh
AP mode setup doesn't seem to show that the router is connected to internet but it does and it works, and the red light remains, not turning green. why?
Good sharing. Can you show how to do mesh setting for this router? And up to how many router or AP it can link?
Hey yo. Yeah, one of the main highlight feature is the ability to use it as a mesh network. We didn't have another AX3 to test its mesh functionality, though.
Not sure how many nodes it can have in a mesh network.
5G channel 149, 152 available ? On this ax3 pro?
Brilliant review, just wish you'd been able to better explain & evaluate mesh support.
I'm most interested in knowing how seemlessly the WiFi coverage will be from multiple AX3's coupled together via ethernet.
My understanding is that transitioning between different APs is the responsibility of the WiFi client, but there are protocols (802.11k/r/v) designed to ease this process.
Does the AX3 support these protocols? Does it need particular support from the client device?
I'm not sure if this router supports these protocols as they're undocumented for this router.
The mesh functionality on this router requires multiple different units of the same AX3 to link. IMO, could be a proprietary feature/protocol.
Nice review. I'm curious how the HiLink is working on those AX3 Pro. I can't find any test on this subject. It would be the cheapest mesh with wifi6, I guess.
Same, I can't find any other units of the AX3 Pro to test out the HiLink. It could be seamless, or it couldn't. Either way, I haven't seen any dedicated WiFi 6 mesh yet - but if the HiLink works as advertised, it'll be a WiFi 6 mesh.
I have this router and what I am facing issue is if I stay next to the router I am getting 220mbps but if I move to next bedroom which is close it will fall to 20 or 45
Thanks for the review mate! The tinkerer in me is now avoiding this. Tho the specs are indeed awesome. I’m using the non wifi 6 router from huawei and kinda enjoying the quality but for tinkering purposes. It sucks.
That I agree. It's very locked down and doesn't have any firmware to flash. Or even a method to flash custom firmwares, to be exact.
@@NasiLemakTech would you recommend something like that tho? would other AX3000 routers will do? Alsoooo. New sub and ticked the bell icon on your channel man :D
Would I be able to replace my Singtel ONT or ONR with this? Or would I still need those and then connect this to them?
Sorry, we're unfamiliar with Singtel ISP.
Mates! is there any huge diffrence in terms of the processor for this AX3 dual core and the AX3 PRO Quad core
For home use, nope
How do I connect the TM Unifi Malaysia? It stucks at getting an internet page. I am using Ax3 Pro from China Version.
From China is an issue since there's no VLAN profile for Unifi. You'll have to Google for that setting.
This is the reason why we're telling people not to buy the router from China.
how about the vpn setting, does it support openvpn client setup?
Doesn't have OpenVPN client setup.
It's fully manual and supports both L2TP and PPTP.
It works like charm. But how to connect two Ax3 pro
Through mesh or CAT6.
Thank you for the informative guide ! I still have some questions though. Is it possible to create a mesh wifi between a Huawei Wifi Ax3 and a TP-LINK Archer AX11000 ? (with the Huawei Ax3 downstairs and the Tp Link Ax11000 upstairs ) Or perhaps getting a Deco M9 be a better choice ? Since installing the Huawei Ax3, certain rooms on the 2nd floor hasnt been able to locate the wifi. I was thinking of getting another Huawei Ax3 or a TP-LINK Archer AX11000 to connect the 2nd floor. Cheers !
Do you think Huawei will be releasing a newer model soon? Maybe an AX5?
Maybe 🤔 No announcement as of now though.
i just buy, and try connected with iphone 11 and wifi router ax3 didnt detect as wifi 6 while samsung note 10 can
any one help
and also my iphone 11 cant detect wifi 5GHz while my iphone X and iphone 11 pro can detect wifi 5Ghz so weird
Is it good for gaming? My pc is at second floor and my router is on first floor, will there be any network loss? My pc will be upgrade to WiFi 6, but I'm still thinking wheater to take the Huawei ax3 Pro or the tp link ax 1800.
It depends on how far away your PC is from the router, and also what WiFi receiver your desktop is using. I highly suggest using an Ethernet cable.
Anyone knows how to turn off ap isolation to use chromecast? I have chinese verson so evtg is in chinese...
Will 1 unit
AX3 pro be able to cover 2000 sq ft. area with thick walls?
Definitely not. I highly suggest you get mesh WiFi instead.
How can i make it access point or range
Extender
When you're setting it up, it'll ask if you want to use it as a repeater or not.
this setup can apply to WS5200 also?
Yes, it should be the same. Though, our tutorial here applies to the Malaysian version only - not the China import version.
Yo bro, help me with something.
If I have a ' smart wifi', can I use this router to increase network speed?
Sure thing bro. What kind of "smart WiFi" do you have?
@@NasiLemakTech it's from telekom, it's like a normal router, just that it have a sim card for network
Will I be able to turn off WPS completely on this router?
Yes, you can. And also turn off the OneHop connect since it's technically WPS via NFC.
Were you able to setup IPv6 on Unifi properly with this router? I setup with auto IP address and auto DNS but it always shows up on the desktop app as IPv6 prefix :unable to obtain." Control panel network setting for Ipv6 address and DNS already set set to auto. Any one with similar situation and how to rectify??
That's weird. We're using both IPv4 and IPv6 with custom DNS too. It works fine for us.
IPv6 is the reason I purchased this new router to replace my Asus with broken IPv6.
Without any IPv6 address support every connection is going to run slower 😉
Hi i just got an ax3 pro. I noticed in the mobile app that there are a few addon softwares available to install...is it advisable to do so??
Nah they're pretty useless. Just focus on the router alone.
an SSH service would be nice to run 😁
Can connect to my huawei 4g modem with unifi air?
You can but using it as an access point.
Does it support Wi-Fi repeater operation mode ?
Yes it does
Hi,
Can this router become secondary router (access point AP), connected via wire to main router?
Yes, absolutely
i believe the WAN Port assignment is automatic so it may be impossible to connect to a LAN uplink without any WAN 🙄
Can we control the bandwidth for each SSID or is it for each device connected?
Only for each device connected. But you can configure it for 2.4GHz and 5GHz separately.
NasiLemakTech Thank you sir.
Can i use this router for Maxis ISP ?
Yes you can
hello
thank you for the review. does the router show separate SSIDs for 2.4 and 5GHz? I am asking cause a lot of smart home appliances needf 2.4GHz
You can separate it in the settings menu.
We showed it here in the initial setup video ✌
ua-cam.com/video/UGyzVH4QNS0/v-deo.html
@@NasiLemakTech thank you. I am looking at tp-link ax1800 also.
Which do you recommend?
Either one works fine, I'd say. Haven't personally tried the TP-Link yet but the TP-Link one definitely has more ports.
Also not to forget - the local availability of the routers. I highly discourage any purchases from China as the interface and VLAN IDs do not work elsewhere around the globe.
NasiLemakTech thank you. I saw the tp link and huawei on shopee from local seller. I will got for ax3 cause can use mesh. Tp link one cannot confirm when they will introduce mesh capabilities to their ax1800
Your speedtest chart does not do justice to this router !!!!
how many 5Ghz channels it supported? Does it support DFS channel i.e. 52,56,60,64 and 100 to 140?
I don't think it supports DFS 🤔
Can't remember the exact number of how many channels available either. Sorry!
@@NasiLemakTech thanks for your answer :)
Hi can it be used as AP? (Does it has AP mode)?
AP mode - yes
it seems it's not a router for a sophisticated power user. But it looks ideal for simple ol' me.
Yea, this router has a very simple router and the firmware is also locked out.
Can it be use as wifi extender ?
Yes it can.
Can i connect to PC with LAN?
Plug and play or need settings in PC
No need settings, just plug it in and it works.
@@NasiLemakTech tq bro
How is this router for a home that has a total of 8 rooms, which is around 2400 sqft?
Definitely unable to cover all. You'll need at least another access point or mesh network.
@@NasiLemakTech Thank you for your reply. I was planning to buy a router for mu home which is around 1400 to 1500 sqfeet. Now there are 6 rooms. Is archer c6 good to cover all the rooms or should I buy deco m4? or is there any good options?
Kalau sy sudah pakai modem include router.. boleh tak saya guna router ni? Dan mcm mn nk setting?
Router ni bagi VDSL saja. VDSL ni kena ada lagi satu BTU modem.
I manage to set up this router thanks to your video.. Btw in my house 2nd floor, the coverage is not very good.. I find out this router can be use as aimesh.. And consider to buy for another one.. But i dunno how to set it.. Can give tutorial on this? Thanks bro🙏
I'll try my best to get another one of these Huawei WiFi AX3 routers. As far as I know, they're pretty much out of stock everywhere now. 😅
Also I'm glad that our video helped!
Same case, 2nd floor coverage is worse compared to the router given by Unifi. Mesh network solved my issue though, I wrongly bought Xiaomi AX1800 (Unsupported for unifi) before and just configure it up as mesh (Wifi-Repeater). Now my coverage, internet and everything is superb!
@@awangkuakram8371 Eh? Unsupported? Did you buy it directly from China?
@@NasiLemakTech Unsupported as in there's no VLAN tagging feature. So it unable to reach internet (Unifi)
@@awangkuakram8371 bro how is the AX3 so far? I want to buy 2 as mesh but takut la Huawei not support or not reliable
Do you think it is worthwhile to change my existing Tenda AC18 to Huawei AX3?
May I know what internet plan you're using at home? Or any wireless file transmission/streaming services that you're using?
@@NasiLemakTech Currently on Unifi 100. Basic home use for wifi and hypp tv connection.
Hmmm... I'd say not really worth it unless most of your WiFi-connected devices already supports WiFi-6.
The Tenda AC18 is still very powerful.
@@NasiLemakTech Thanks for your advice. Was hoping that wifi performance could be notched up with AX3.
Glad to assist you!
Hi, is the router suitable for unifi home 100mbps plan, does it have an option for static IP address?
Hey, yes this router is definitely suitable for 100Mb/s plan. As for static IP, yes there is an option for that.
Here's a tutorial on how to set it up: consumer.huawei.com/za/support/content/en-us10881951/
@@NasiLemakTech thank you so much for answering me, I have already bought this router few days ago!
@@WWKStudio Ah, do let us know what you think of this router when you get it 🙌
@@NasiLemakTech sure! Any comments or problems I'll re-comment at here.
@@WWKStudio Looking forward t othat!
Hello! Can this be use a wired wifi extender?
As bridged AP? I think there is an option for that, but I need to check that to confirm.
Hello sir is there a slection bridge ap
Hi. Which would recommend?
1. Huawei wifi ax3
Or
2. Dlink DIR-1560 AX1500.
Appriciated. Cheers
Depends on how you want it to be. The D-Link has one more LAN port but other than that it's pretty comparable with the Huawei one.
bro..saya pakai ax3 ni, dalam apps ipv6 saya disable..kalau enable ipv6 ada perubahan tak?
Tak ada perubahan bagi speed, tapi some website/apps hanya boleh diguna kalau ada IPv6
lack of wrt support kills this thing, the standard features are lackluster at best
Yep, it's a very locked-down router.
I can't connect either my Google Chrome or my Google home with 2.4 or 5ghz wifi from this router. Anybody any idea how to fix this? Previous router never had issues with either Google or device.
How come? We're able to link many devices to this router though.
@@NasiLemakTech I had to factory reset all 3 devices. Apparently when you switch to a completely new network they don't like that. Now it all works :)
How does this compared to the TP Link AC1200? Standard one from Time Internet.
Depends on what you're looking for, actually. Thus Huawei router has better theoretical maximum speed but the range is more or less the same
@@NasiLemakTech I have the standard router from TIME. The router is located in my living room. But the internet connection in my study room is so poor especially at night. Sometimes, it just drops my Zoom Calls completely. Do you recommend I upgrade to this Huawei router or buy a Tenda Mesh instead?
I recommend you to get a mesh network for sure. Sounds like you're experiencing coverage issues.
@@NasiLemakTech I just checked. These are my speeds.
Study Room (Where Zoom calls drop)
Ping - 11
Download - 105.82
Upload - 15.02
Living Room (where AC 1200 is)
Ping - 8
Download - 106.01
Upload - 105.98
What would your advice be? Upgrade to a better router or purchase a Tenda Nova mesh kit?
Your upload speed is affected the most eh. Hmmm... I suggest a mesh still, stability is more important than speed for your case.
There is no openvpn on vpn so no NordVPN or other vpn service that uses openvpn. So no Netflix USA/other country.
FIRMWARES COMPARE
CN AX3 Pro: AM1WS7200M (LATEST FIRMWARE VERSION 10.0.5.41 FILESIZE 44.38MB)
GLOBAL AX3 Pro: AM1WS720020M (LATEST FIRMWARE VERSION 10.0.5.17 FILESIZE 26.38 MB)
the firmware size difference is strange, plenty of ROM Storage anyway.
Have you tried flashing Global over CN... that is going to be my first step after unboxing
👍
@@glasser2819 not possible will not work don't do it
why dont you just use speedtest ?
That is limited by the internet speed that you subscribed to. That means the router might not be tested to its absolute limit.
Our test here stresses the router to its maximum bandwidth available via WiFi.
The 5G network is supposed to be strong if you are sitting next to the router. 5G is more powerful but has shorter range, the 2.4G is less powerful but has a longer/wider range.
I know. Which is why I specifically pointed it out because this router has worse strength for the 2.4GHz
@@NasiLemakTech 👍🏾 gotcha!
How bout xiaomi ax1800?
I haven to tried that router before though. Can't make any judgment about it.
slower AX and more expensive too...
In my country, it's cheaper then Huawei ax3 pro
This global version only have 2 signal amplifiers chips chinese one 4
are you talking about the AX3? not AX3 pro? AX3 has 2 power amplified chip. AX3 pro has 4.
@@ngochuybk AX3 Pro (Chinese) has 4 AX3 Pro (Global) has 2
@@pierredolniety8739 really? Where do you read this specs?
I also want to know what's a power amplified chip.
This is the first time I'm seeing such a parameter on a router.
@@NasiLemakTech i mean signal amplifiers
Sorry noob question i guess, do you prefer this or tenda ac23? Coz I'm thinking of replacing my rubbish router. *Wink.
Hahaha! Personally, I'll go for this router, but I also know that not all my devices can use its full potential because my laptop does not have WiFi 6 support yet.
However, paying the price now for some degree of futureproofing is worth it for me.
@@NasiLemakTech Hey thanks man for the reply, but final question, how abt coverage wise since I'm living in a double storey house, do you think huawei are good enough?
dont forget its only a router,no trendmicro or nothing ,only firewall, also huawai routers are not verry save, better good asus router en then huawai behind it , not your main router.
Dont buy this router signal strenght is like a bag of shit, tested this router and compaired it with my Netgear R7000. This huawei AX router sucks donkeyballs. Really dont buy this router i have send it back to the retailler!
Comparing a RM300 router with another RM848 router. Sureeeeeeeeeeeeeee
