This is the best theme because you feel the sense of URGENCY in the track without it feeling overbearing.
Only overbearing mixed with nostalgia (turning this on literally like ahhhh sheet jumping up and down)
This and X6 theme perfectly fits with game's plot atmosphere
And it ain't even close.
This Stage select theme and Stage Select theme of X6 is the best music on MegaMan X series.
This particular game was made with passion.
It was thanks to the budget and effort on it. Unfortunately X 5 and 6 did not have the same luck.

Literally my favorite theme when I heard it as a kid. When I got to this part in the legacy collection, I was just head banging and tapping my feet. In my opinion, X4 has the best sound track in the series. X5 is also good and I haven’t gotten to 6 and 8, but 4 will always be my personal favorite.

this used to have annotations so you could click on a maverick and link directly to my no-damage run video of each stage. yeah not anymore. yt removes annotations and all my stage select screens are useless. i guess you get the song.
just note- my X4 playlist has no damage videos for the entire game. thanks, you may now continue to enjoy this amazing tune.

I think X4 is the only time I've known X to be a badass. After the death of Zero in X5, he became a pacifist, though I cannot blame him at all.

As much as I love the previous SNES MMX games overall, this theme gets me pumped everytime I hear it. Sounds like the anthem of the Maverick Hunters. Just epic and glorious.

LOVE this theme! X4 is my favorite gameplay and music wise. It was hard to pick between X4 and X5 because there are lots of cool tracks in X5 as well. Like X Vs Zero, Zero Virus Stage 2, the Japanese intro theme featured only in Rockman X5.
X4 was perfect, both of the main characters lost someone they trust or they love... Also I enjoyed the anime cutscenes in X4.

This stage select and megaman (rockman) 8 are my go to themes.
"Who will bask in the glory and adoration that comes with being declared the world's greatest fighters?"
1. Web Spider = Guard the Repliforce's weapon hidden inside a Jungle.
2. Cyber Peacock = Causing a bug that corrupted the Network and attack whoever access the internet from Cyberspace.
3. Storm Owl = Along With Repliforce's Air Force preparing to conquering the Sky and attack the city as distraction.
4. Magma Dragoon = Cause the Sky Lagoon to fall and betray the Hunters. He now hide inside the Volcano to fight either X or Zero
5. Jet Stingray = Destroying the city as distraction and escape to the Marine Base along with the Navy.
6. Split Mushroom = Reoccupied the abandoned Bio Lab and attack whoever coming into the Laboratory.
7. Slash Beast = Along with the army guards the military train that carrying a Supply for Repliforce.
8. Frost Walrus = Protecting a Secret weapon built inside a hidden Snowbase.
this theme was brought into x Dive as the event mission select theme

The bottom row looks so bad ass with their mug shots compared to the top Mavericks
If they did not have Dragoon in the top row it would had been a total blowout but even with the handicap that Split mushroom is, it is still a no contest.
Agreed and with Split Mushroom at least they got a side shot of him which makes it look a little more intimidating.
