Replacement Stihl Carburetor -- amzn.to/2MsIhkd Stihl 2 stroke Oil -- amzn.to/2pAFoVw 1 year ago I had my local Stihl dealer work on this trimmer. They installed a New Stihl carb. That cost me over $100. So i figured i would try a cheap alternative. So far, so good. Thanks for watching.
These carbs are good for 1 or 2 seasons. Not bad when you consider the price. I keep an extra one on hand at all times for when my other replacement carb goes out. Usually, what goes bad is some red rubber that breaks down and gets stuck in the pump cover drain.
Thank you, brother! I followed your advice and replaced the carb on my FS45 in about 20 minutes. Running like a rabbit now and I couldn’t be happier with the cost savings. Cheers!
I installed that very same carb from Huztl on my FS55RC, and, no idea if it was just a bad one, but the sweet spot when trying to find it's idle was tiny. Very unlike the the OEM. I swapped out the new fuel line while I was at it too. Around the same time I'd purchased an ultrasonic cleaner, cleaned and shelved the original OEM carb.. Cut to a season later when I couldn't live with the cheap replacement's idle any more. Just couldn't find a start position that would also run okay. Thought I'd try out the OEM cleaned one again, and low and behold the cleaning had fixed it. Also the fuel tube that came with the Huztl was a rigid stick after a year, and leaking around the gas tank where it had shrunk. Guess what.. I'd kept the OEM one too. Still completely bendy and like new.. After something like 18 years of age. I really learned a lesson on staying with OEM.. At least in this. It wasn't complete junk, but the original shelved pieces were 18+ years old, and basically still fine, just needed a clean. The Huztl worked badly for a year, and within 2, I was back to the exact same cleaned OEM carb and accessories. These carbs work and it got me out of a bind, but they aren't the quality of the originals. Sometimes they even look nicer, but.. They just aren't quite right.
Just replaced my Stihl carburetor with a Mandarin made knockoff. Runs perfectly ! Just adjusted the Hi screw. Opened my Stihl and found dried diaphragms. I will a diaphragm kit to install on my Stihl and retry it.
Thank you! Very informative. First clean your spark arrest filter, this is a metal screen that gets carbon debri on it. It is right where the exhaust comes out. All Stihl products have these. My stihl FS250 started getting bogged down. Adjusting and then replacing the carb with a non-OEM one did nothing to fix it but cleaning the spark arrester made it as good as new. manufacturer The off marked kits have a new carb, fuel filter, air filter, spark plug and lines are cheap and worked just as good as the original. Just keep the old carb because......if you ever take it to a Stihl repair shop they will refuse to work on it if it has an after market carb.
Yep did the same local dealer wanted $250 for new carb. purchased a very similar kit off eBay for under $20 and 30 minutes later my FS90R was running good again. I have noticed it always starts on about the 6th pull on first job but after that when warm starts first time for the rest of the day. Very pleased and like you I hated purchasing the Chinese rip off part but $230 is a big of difference and I need to cut a lot of grass to recoup that!
I replaced the carb on my mom's echo leaf blower with a knock off carb off Amazon and sometimes it'll crank on the first pull. It's never ran better 😀. Great job 👍
I bought the same carb & kit. It worked great for over an hour. I think I will check for spark tomorrow. Looks like it’s getting gas when you use the primer bulb. I took the sparkplug out and smelled gas. Thanks for the video.
It is crazy, Jan 2024 I found a $9.95 carb on Amazon for my 6HP Honda knockoff engine on my plate compactor. The 10 minute job of the 2 mounting nuts, replace the gaskets and twist tied the fuel line to that universal brass fuel inlet and starts first pull every time.
One main difference, for some of these trimmers, is the fact that the aftermarket carbs lack the accelerator pump, which consists of a small metal piston, tiny o ring, and spring. This is a common failure point in the OEM carbs and to fix it requires tracking down the right o ring (which can fail again after a short while). I've replaced the ring on OEM carb for an FS45, but it was a pain to find the right one. I have another FS45 that I sealed the accelerator pump with epoxy, which partially worked (I may have used too much epoxy - had to drill a fuel channel, which causes flooding) but now it needs a new carb - have had decent luck with cheap aftermarket. I have seen a few carbs for sale which appear to have the hole for the accelerator pump. It is fitted underneath the throttle shaft.
I am going to do the exact same thing, the cost of doing the carby repair here in Australia, was 50% of the cost of a new FS45C ,in the workshop, so I bought a complete carby and kit for my FS45 for $18plus free postage, so will look forward to changing it myself.
I bought a $12 kit (w/ shipping) for my FS45 and it's like new. Possibly, better than new, as it starts easier than I remember. The trimmer itself was made in China, so it's a perfect match. :-) I'll probably get years more use out of it.
Did the same thing to my Husqvarna 326LX (I think). Carb came with all hoses, spark plug, primer bulb, and air filter - $18. Exact same brand name and number that mine came with. Runs like a charm.
Hello! Just found your UA-cam site and am enjoying the tractor and steam show vlogs. Recently I learned about the benefits of manufactured gas (the kind that comes in cans) and use it exclusively in my lawn and garden engines. Fuel issues are now a thing of the past. Sure,it is pricey, but so is downtime and repair bills. Have a better day!
For commercial use it's a gamble. The precision machining isn't always there so the choke disengage catch plates dont always work. The butterfly valve moves independent of the throttle shaft, the idle screw vibrates itself loose. If you run a company that sends young folks to do yard work, there's very little chance they are "2 stroke whisperers" and will troubleshoot on site.
Thanks for the video FA. I have a FS 46. It was given to me by a friend that purchased new many years ago. It was barely used. It sat for years. I could get it to fire but wouldn’t stay running. I suspect the carb flap / diaphragm has gotten brittle. Sure seems stiff. Anyways I called local Stihl dealer and asked for a quote on carburetor service/ repair. I was quoted $200!!!!!! Needless to say that’s not going to happen! I went with the China huzst carb like you. I’ll let your channel know how it turns out. Happy weed whackin’ 2 all!
@@FarmAlarm I swapped out the factory Stihl carburetor for the huztle carb. It fired up after 4 pulls. Seems to be good but after it warmed up it dies at idle speed if I don’t give it a little throttle. I’m guessing I need to speed up the idle timing. Also it seems like it’s a little slow but that’s just a guess as I haven’t had the thing operating since I got it. Also I changed out the plug, air filter and fuel line and filter. The old fuel line and filter and air filter all seemed good but I swapped them out anyways. Thanks again for the video! ( any further advice- tips would be appreciated.)👍🏻👌🏻✔️🥽🌱🍃🌞
Not just the carbs. Some of their chainsaws and hedgetrimmers are labeled Made in China for Stihl. So much for that commercial that says "Stihl, proudly made in America".
@@ronaldnorris2179 I believe you are correct. I know Stihl has a Zama factory in China and in the Phillipines. I remember when my lawn and garden equipment lasted for 15-20 years, with very little maintenance. Gas left in them over the winters. Never an issue.
My 20yr old fs80r got where it would only run on choke Put a huztl carb with the lines and tank grommets on it turned hi lo and idle and it runs like a new one will idle all day long and fire right up easy now Only took maybe 30min taking my time worst part was pushing the lines through the grommets, hint you should do this before you put the grommets in the tank
I just bought one for the roadside Stihl I got last year. It fired up and worked. But it stopped. Upon looking at it closer the primer bulb was split. So I hope this new one works.
Why do I get the idea that there is only a couple of carburetor factories in china selling to all the brands. Hips carbs look exactly like these. Good machining on them.
I bought 4 of these carbs because of this video, and they work well! However, the check valve for the gas tank leaks on everyone of my weed whackers now. I pulled them apart to find that none of them had the little filter that's supposed to be inside the valve. That's the only problem I've run into, and they have updated the petcock design for the fuel intake, they are now ribbed plastic!

I appreciate them working to get you out of a bind, but it was short lived for me.. Tough to live with on something as twitchy as a 2 stroke string trimmer.
Even the OEM reads made in China. I put a Chinese carb on my Husqvarna mower. 10 hrs on it so far and no complaints. It was like 16.00 shipped. Might as well replace Chinese with another Chinese that's cheaper. I can buy a whole carb and use needle valves, gasket etc cheaper than buying a rebuild kit.
I used a Chinese carb on a used stihl i picked up from the trash pile at work. It runs ok but idk if it’s normal for the mixer but it sucks a ton of gas vs my husqvarna. It’s definitely stronger but uses way too much gas to keep it.
Just so you know, that kit you purchased is identical including the fuel lines, and carburetor etc on my Stihl fs 38 (even the genuine Stihl carbs are made in china) 😂😭🤒

Great video my friend. Helped alot, but if you turn that carb upside down it literally says “made in China.” Even the Germans do business with the Chinese.
Huztl makes stihl and husvarna chainsaw clones. All the parts interchange I have 2. They also make the Joncutter chainsaw which is a clone of Redmax saws that are made in Japan.
When you can buy a kit with a new carb, gaskets, fuel line, fuel filter, air filter, and spark plug for $12, rebuilding isn't worth it. That $12 kit is going to fix all the worn out parts and likely last years.
@@Gr8thxAlot Hahaha when ya funding China and Russia to come and Murder you own Flesh and blood through Private sector mercinaries and false Flags and selling out ya own workers and bussiness Good on ya mate a real patriot...
Middlemen serve a purpose. They got it to an Amazon/Ebay store in the US and shipped to the customers door in a few days. Well worth the money and the small profit they made. An OEM kit will set you back $70+.
Anyone know the Zama Model number of the carburetor for an FS85 that was sold outside California? Mine is a CA model starting in the 90's they banned all high speed mixture adjustments so the carbs don't have them. I need to find the ZAMA rebuild kit number. My carb is only marked with C1Q. There is no suffix. If the price is right I might just buy a new carb if I can find the model number for the 49 state model.
The C1Q uses a RB-100 kit. Be careful working on this carb. It has check valves in the primer body, and a check valve in the main nozzle. If you hot tank the carb, blow compressed air thru passages or use strong solvents on these carbs theres a good chance you will damage the check valves.
I got that same carburetor for my Stihl FS 55r and it works great but the way they placed the fuel hose connectors on the carburetor block my from opening my filter house cover. Anyone else having this problem?
Products made in china are also good quality things. Even chinese things are diferent between them, some are poor some are cool. On Stihl is something else.. Is like Stihl was there while they made their own products haha
I would suspect the OEM Stihl carbs (still made in China) probably go through some degree of quality control. So there's a good chance you will get a quality carb with no issues. You pay more for that. Or you buy the Ho Le Fook brand, with no quality control. You pay less. Maybe it works, maybe it doesn't. Maybe it works for 2 weeks, 6 months, 1 year. It's a crapshoot.
For all of you who like cheap products, well so do I but there is a price to pay for buying these products, you know what the price is in the USA. the questions should be is the supplier of carbs charging more than he should, the retailers in France charged me 160 euros for a carb for my fs400. Now was it a genuine carb or a rip off from god knows where. the more you look at the people that are producing cheap products the more you realize how we are if fact ripping them off, because they get next to nothing for the work they do.
What are your problems does the machine not run after you put the new one in or you need help to install the new one one thing I like to do is take a picture of everything before I take it apart just so I am sure I put it back together the right way
DO NOT BUY THIS ONE! Atleast get a HIPA or something other than this one. I have two that both leak fuel into the air filter and provide low power. Even the reviews on Amazon keep referring to leakage and low power! I’m not having to order a different one.
I previously had a oem replacement carb from stihl (which is made in china) and it lasted one season. And it was $100. I was not going to spend another $100 on a carburetor. I decided to "try" this cheap Chinese knockoff, and it has been working for two years. As far as the logic of "I'll use a cheap carburetor, so I might as well use cheap oil" which I'm sure that is what you're getting at, well that does not make sense.
@@FarmAlarm just use the stihl oil lol cheap carbs are ok but it also come down to keeping fresh gas in it and making sure it’s getting maintenance done I see so much stuff coming into our small engine shop I like to try and help pass info along great video on the carburetor instal
I would usually agree with you, except for two things... 1. This carburetor is still working after two years. 2. An OEM carb is made in China too.. Thanks for commenting
Got one of these garbage chinese carbs and I got exactly what I paid for, total garbage. Adjusted this thing every way from Sunday on my fs55 and it will just not idle properly. Don't waste your time with this it's not worth the few bucks you save.
I tend to agree. Stihl has China making some of their chainsaws, hedge trimmers, string trimmers, and probably more. I'm standing hear reading directly off the equipments labels. Like so many other manufacturers ( DeWalt, Milwaukee) they moved to China and are hoping their reputation will keep selling their products. But we have few choices anymore. And the Chinese are laughing as we buy their crap and have to buy it again in a year or two.

Thanks so much for your video, really convinced me to give it a shot. Incredibly pleased for $20-ish bucks.
You could who how you setup carburetor
How has the carb held up? Thanks!
Great actually 👍
Great video my friend. Helped alot, but if you turn that carb upside down it literally says “made in China.” Even the Germans do business with the Chinese.
WOW! A complete BRAND NEW carburetor for just about what Stihl charges for a primer ball! LOL
Bought 2 off shoppee now I have 2 working grass cutters
Huztl makes stihl and husvarna chainsaw clones. All the parts interchange
I have 2. They also make the Joncutter chainsaw which is a clone of Redmax saws that are made in Japan.
Is that an echo?
Henrt - 1 Tracey - not as good lol giggles i mean hugsssssss from Ontario Canada
👍👍👍😂😂😂
Why dont people buy a carby kit there are no parts that wear on a carby only gaskets, metal parts almost never need replacing
Here in Asia they only cost $6. You just helped the richest guy in the world get a little richer. Must be proud..
Middlemen serve a purpose. They got it to an Amazon/Ebay store in the US and shipped to the customers door in a few days. Well worth the money and the small profit they made. An OEM kit will set you back $70+.
I did this to two fs 100 rx whips and now neither one will run.. they start with high throttle then just die.
How long did it last?
They will not last over 1 year
@@ralph95 I’ve had a bunch and after years they are still working well
Anyone know the Zama Model number of the carburetor for an FS85 that was sold outside California? Mine is a CA model starting in the 90's they banned all high speed mixture adjustments so the carbs don't have them. I need to find the ZAMA rebuild kit number. My carb is only marked with C1Q. There is no suffix. If the price is right I might just buy a new carb if I can find the model number for the 49 state model.
Just go to ebay and type in stihl fs85 carburetor. I have an fs85 and carb should be in tomorrow
The C1Q uses a RB-100 kit. Be careful working on this carb. It has check valves in the primer body, and a check valve in the main nozzle. If you hot tank the carb, blow compressed air thru passages or use strong solvents on these carbs theres a good chance you will damage the check valves.
@@steadyeddie7453 Thank you Eddie!
I got that same carburetor for my Stihl FS 55r and it works great but the way they placed the fuel hose connectors on the carburetor block my from opening my filter house cover. Anyone else having this problem?
Yes, same problem here. I can still pry it open with a screwdriver, but it is a lot harder.
👍 👍 👍
👍👍👍👍
Hey, if it comes in a cardboard box with their name all over it, it MUST be good!
I have no idea why the OEM cabs are so spendy anyway.
I always thought it was called hustle
Those will never start if the primer bulb wont fill.
Products made in china are also good quality things. Even chinese things are diferent between them, some are poor some are cool. On Stihl is something else.. Is like Stihl was there while they made their own products haha
Tell me the difference between the two carbs. They are both made in China,
I would suspect the OEM Stihl carbs (still made in China) probably go through some degree of quality control.
I having some trouble with the one I brought anybody have any tips
What are your problems does the machine not run after you put the new one in or you need help to install the new one one thing I like to do is take a picture of everything before I take it apart just so I am sure I put it back together the right way
U didnt even show where the green lines go
I didn't use it. I used all of the original lines from the trimmer
they want $195 for my Mantis tiller to install a New Carb
Hard to justify even a rebuild kit at that price.
True
That's how to make a "how to" video.
That's how you make a proper internet comment 👏
Thanks 😊
You cant agjust the carb to Stilh's specs without a RPM meter.
DO NOT BUY THIS ONE! Atleast get a HIPA or something other than this one. I have two that both leak fuel into the air filter and provide low power. Even the reviews on Amazon keep referring to leakage and low power! I’m not having to order a different one.
So you use a Chinese knockoff carb but still pay for Stihl oil? Interesting...
@@hunter7476 yep I absolutely use the Stihl oil. Thanks for the comment.
Their is a reason for the name( Chinese Junk)
I would usually agree with you, except for two things...
1. This carburetor is still working after two years.
2. An OEM carb is made in China too..
Thanks for commenting
The Stihl original carburetor was made in China
That thing has a cheap knock off on it allready
Got one of these garbage chinese carbs and I got exactly what I paid for, total garbage. Adjusted this thing every way from Sunday on my fs55 and it will just not idle properly. Don't waste your time with this it's not worth the few bucks you save.
New Stihls are junk Chinese crap anyway just paying for a name now
I tend to agree.
CHEAP PARTS R EXACTLY THAT = STIHL, ECHO Husqvarna = ALL CHEAP AS HELL & DON'T LAST LONG!
Your pronunciation of the product sounds like you got something stuck in your mouth. I got one Carb Make in CHINA. It work Great. Why not?
