Tip for the mirror Mark stick carpet protector over it before you start removing it keeps all the splinters in and keeps it together when it breaks up much safer !
Good shout that
The small bathrooms can be the worst to work on, the plans always change. Thanks for going through your though process Mark. 👍
No worries mate, yep the small ones always get you🤣
Hello Mark. Another brilliant video mate, thoroughly enjoyed it..yet again! keep em coming, all the best.
Thanks buddy 👍🏼👍🏼
I may be a bit odd but i enjoy the ripping out phase doing these jobs and getting an empty space theres a ton of planning and foresight that you need to do before you begin to put things back together that goes unseen sometimes, horrible that chipboard flooring turns to weetabix when wet and plasterboard is the same when wet unless its tanked, doing my bathroom i replaced the chipboard with moisture resistant stuff and theres no plasterboard on the walls just marmox board, looking forward to seeing how things develop with this job, nice one take care
Really enjoying these bathroom refurbs Mark. Real world plumbing! I recently did our bathroom and it was even more challenging because it was the only toilet \ shower in the house, I had to move at pace!
Yep that’s always an issue if something goes a bit off…
Great video as always mate, I hate taking mirrors down, I started putting carpet protector on them to stop any shards flying off if they do break
Cheers Tom, yer a few people have said that, ever thought of doing it👍🏼👍🏼
Hi Mark, another day another complicated bathroom, I do enjoy these bathroom refurbishments.
It’s interesting to see how you overcome the unforeseen problems you encounter during the job.
By the time you have finished they always look fantastic, I’m sure this one will be no acceptation.
I look forward to the next episode, as always take care and have a great week, regards, Chris. 👍👍👍
Thanks Chris…. This one so far has been a right pain, keep your eye out for the follow up videos 🫣🫣
@@MJTiffPlumbing yep will do, looking forward 🍻👍👍
Mirror removal safety tip - cover it with the carpet protector film so that it does not break into small pieces !
Essex flange made me think of Gemma Collins
Brilliant 🤣🤣🤣
Evening Mark. That shower reminds me of what I found when I moved into our current house. Someone tiled inside the cubicle with mosaic tiles and hadn't tanked/sealed it properly, tiles had been passing water and my fingers went straight through the wall one evening 😂.
Nice work btw, looking forward to the next stage. 👍
Thanks mate, yep always gotta tank/seal it up
Drama, drama, drama!!! As plumbing wasn't difficult enough, you take the trouble to film it with commentary! This is why I don't watch Netflix any more!
Hahahah….. always something to keep me on my toes it seems🤣
Another great video Mark, it put a smile on my face I’m 3/4 through my own bathroom refurbishment but not at your pace ( a lot slower). Had to replace the floor due to old shower leaking and had to board over the walls due to the state of them. I used splash panel for the first time in the shower, made a quick impact not having to tile the shower. Looking forward to part two, keep the good work up 😊
Thanks mate…. This one has taken a turn🤦🏻♂️
Dude, put adhesive tape over the mirror, reduces the chances of you cutting your wrists.
Hi mark great vid yet again it’s defo a life of a plumber quick question did you put valve on cylinder before the vent pipe ??
Quality vids loving it cheers
Hi Mark. Another bathroom and more problems. All the the rip out done in a day good going. It’s going to look good when finished. I wouldn’t be worried if I was you cause I know you can sort it. Have a good week mate 👍
Thanks John… yep it can always be sorted just knocks the job on a little 👍🏼👍🏼
Always plenty of surprises when you start ripping stuff out 😂. Just a thought but couldn't you not put the sink under the window and toilet to the right? Gives more light at the basin 👍👍
i can feel your pain. every bathroom i seem to go to turns into a ballache
Tell me about it🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
Easier to rip it out and use something like Schluter curbless????
Yfood is awesome. Great vid as always Mark.
Yer great isn’t it….. 👌🏼👌🏼👍🏼
Nice video. It's always a bit nerve wracking ripping out. You never know what you uncover 👍👍
You certainly don’t… especially this one
Good work just cover yourself take that handle off the hot draw iso bud or move after vent T hope it gets easier lol
Yer handle will be off at the end of the job👍🏼👍🏼
That mirror was never going in the skip in one piece 🪩 but it came out easier than that hot water tank last week. 😂
Hahahaha so true
You never what you'll find. 😂 I'm sure you can get AAV's that are pressure rated that can go below spillover level if you're struggling for height in the vanity unit. Can you baten out the cupboard essentially make the wall a bit of t deeper to hide the shower valve keep the cupboard/wardrobe tidy. Can always put a plastic access panel in.
Never easy. Don't mention chipboard floors I've got to cut my own up to run some 4" extraction ducting for a whole house extractor system Im installing. 🙈
Yes you can, macalpine do one that can go lower than the flood level…
Watch out for the cupboard work…😉
If it's above pan rim won't the water come over it before it reaches the aav?
It seems to be more and more common nowadays that we stumble across a multitude of sins/issues once we get stuck in, I'm glad its not just me haha🤣🤣
Day 1 is always "rip out & assess" day, do your customers ever question your process on day 1 like some of mine do ("why are you not working a 'full' day?" "its all out now so why cant you start putting it all back in already?" haha
Look on the bright side: problems make good content!
So it seems mate 🤣🫣🫣
Great video mate,as for the 7 yrs bad luck for the mirror, just bury a piece of the glass in the garden it cancels out the bad luck😅,I'm very superstitious.😮😂
Ohhh is that a thing……… I will be in the skip tomorrow 🤣
You need to remove the valve you have put on the hot outlet. You have compromised the vent of the cylinder.
As said to a few people, it is for ease of draining while working on the system, the handle will be removed at the end of the job
Exellent job sir
👍🏼👍🏼
Cheap glass suckers make removing mirrors or glass panels alot easier
Yep I even had a set in the van and completely forgot🤣🤦🏻♂️
Another brill video mark
Thanks mate 👍🏼👍🏼
Bathrooms never seem to go to plan!
You may wanna move that lever valve you’ve put on hot as you’ve also valved off the vent
It’s not a problem as it won’t be turned off unless I’m working on it and at the end will be removing the lever👍🏼👍🏼
Hi Mark looking forward to the progression off this bathroom. Question if you don’t mind me asking, if you cut the soil pipe and stick an aav on what happens with the pipe in the attic and then the roof?
That will be connected to the extractor 👍🏼👍🏼
Ahhh of corse great idea. I’m new to the domestic side and had a customer the other day asking about it so I can now advise that thank you for your help
Great work my great friend Mark have a wonderful Sunday brother
Thank mate
Evening Mark, another great video!
Can I just touch on bathrooms, I work mainly on gas/heating systems.
I get asked all the time to carry out bathroom work. Is it worth it really when I’m currently busy enough? It’s just me and my colleague.
If your busy then it’s a headache you won’t need I would say, unless you do them a lot and can manage them well👍🏼👍🏼
valve on hot / vent you may hope no child ever turns it off
They won’t when I’ve finished and removed the lever….
There is nothing worse that a huge mirror that needs removing. You did good by removing a portal to hell.
It’s only more money for the project, 42% overspend 🤪
All those extra complications because you broke the mirror 😉
Hahahaha don’t say that 🤣🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
That shower has been leaking like a sieve
Yep 🤣
Another fiddle of a job but you can do it lucky that the mirror you broke wasnt going back
Yep this one is tricky!!!!….
Yep we knew how that mirror was gonna end up🫣
Overboard? Do it properly and tear the plasterboard down and reboard it, loosing them space for no reason
All of 12mm…….🙄……. Have a word.
Mark, a wee bit of advice mate. Don’t put lever valves on HW Cylinder draw offs. You could implode the Cylinder. As is said, Bathroom changes would be easy money for a Plumber if it wasn’t for Floors & Walls!
Thanks for sharing mate👍👍
It’s been fitted on there for when I’m draining and refilling, lever will be removed once finished👍🏼
@@MJTiffPlumbing I understand that Mark, but you’ve also blocked the Expansion Pipe from the Cylinder. So if a Gatevalve on the Cold Feed to the Cylinder is shut off & the Lever Valve is also shut, you open the supply to the shower, there’s a chance you’ll implode the Cylinder.
Been there done that, got the Cap & Tee shirt!!
Chip board floors are just the future problems.....especially when there done proper with proper glue and screws
Utter nightmare ain’t they mate
shower had a leak because of that inset shower valve. don't think it was because the shower wasn't tanked mate. taken no end of those valves out always seem to have that issue.
👍🏼👍🏼
Why don’t you get a young lad with you ? Help you out while giving a lad a good future
Would love to but it doesn’t work for my business unfortunately….
Bit of pva glue on the mirror, nobody will ever tell the difference. 😂
🤣🤣
At least the floor tiles just popped up . Always on a rip out you hope the tiles pop off …
About the only thing that’s gone my way on this job I think
Was a customer upset when you broke the mirror?
Nope as it was coming out….👍🏼👍🏼
Always the way mate, floors always rotten underneath and plasterboard always needs replacing with marmox. Most bathrooms haven’t been put in to last especially on new build estates
Yep completely agree
Mark bathrooms are always a nightmare as a Tiler I recommend that you construction board most of the walls and tile them will be an easier solution I also suggest that you find yourself a good apprentice so that you can use your skills to do more plumbing and not demolition cheers
No good using them boards as you will see in the upcoming video…. They have to be plastered etc as it’s half height tiling.
Great videos Mark. You can skim jackoboard if you put blue grit on first.👍
Thanks mate
Another lovely Bathroom job,
No doubt it will be a nice finish
Looking forward to the next episode
Good video
👍👍🤜
Thanks mate 👍🏼👍🏼
Good stuff, what was the black tube going across under the floor for?
Good question, and I’m not 100% sure…… they used to tie walls in with them OR it could be the gas pipe…🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️
old phone ringing.
Oldschool 🤣🤣
Everyone knows, it’s bad luck to be suspicious !!!
So I’m told 🤣🤣
You shouldn’t put valve on outlet of open vented hot water cylinder 💣💥
It’s for isolation during the job, so I know when I can shit it off…. When finished the handle will be removed and valve turned……
i was going to say ill have that mirror but you bloody broke it lol, good adhesive used there , rip it out and re board it too much faffing in the long run
Amazing what you unearth when you strip right back, good for customer to see.
Job will be done properly when you refit everything back = happy customer 👌🏻
Another good watch 👍🏻
Thanks for the vid Mark - I can see how these issues stack up and become frustrating!
Do you ever use plastic panelling? Just thinking of putting some in our bathroom but have always tiled in the past....
Looking forward to this one. Great content
Thanks buddy 👍🏼👍🏼
Big job again been busy lately mate good luck
Crazy busy at the moment….. but this one is becoming very testing
@@MJTiffPlumbing yep lot to do there looks like it just all the bits of different things to get done pain
So if it was tanked where would the water go once is got through the tiles?
👍👍
👍🏼👍🏼
🤘😎🤘
Yes mate 🙌🏼🙌🏼
You put a shut off valve on open vent . That’s a no no I’m afraid
Because it for ease of shutting the system down while working on the system, handle will be removed at the end buddy….
