You can hear the excitement in his voice at the prospect of change. May you be resting in power with your Mumma, darling boy. The two men then beat him nearly to death, gouged out his eye, shot him in the head and then threw his body, tied to the cotton gin fan with barbed wire, into the river. His corpse was so disfigured it was unrecognizable.
In 2017, Tim Tyson, author of the book The Blood of Emmett Till, revealed that Carolyn Bryant (later known as Carolyn Bryant Donham) recanted her testimony, admitting that Till had never touched, threatened or harassed her. “Nothing that boy did could ever justify what happened to him,” she said. In 2022, a grand jury in Mississippi declined to indict Bryant for her role in the crime nearly 70 years earlier. Bryant died in 2023.

This really tugged at my heart. What he had to go through and still to be so positive. When he said he could see the change and how excited he was about wanting to come back. I sobbed. I've been doing a lot of reading about him lately and it may seem weird but I always include him in my prayers. His whole family too.

I remember learning about this is school and it was the most traumatizing story we've ever heard growing up in the south...besides the Holocaust and the African slave trade...I'm grateful to have learned at how hatred can really kill a person's life psychological and spiritually...this poor baby boy is an angel and I'm grateful he's with his mother again bc she never gave up on informing the world of his brutal death.....I just pray our country will seek unity someday.
