Dude yes. So much of this album in the second half reminds me of the awesome mixture of pop punk/metal core that existed 2003-2010 which happens to be my teenage years so I’m fucking here for it. 9/10 album is fucking awesome.
My problem is i have 5 favourites and i can't decide 😅. I love all songs in this album its the best album i have heard so far if you rate it as a package. But those 5 stood out for me: -nightmare -dissipate -with regards -aftertouch -harbringer Not even funny how often I listen to all of them
FAR AWAYYYYYY...I’m sorry but I’ll always have a soft spot for huge sappy choruses in metalcore. My top 2 of the album are easily With Regards or All In Vain. This album just hits all the right spots for me *chefs kiss*
Dissipate and crossfire are my two favorite songs on the album. The whole album is fire. I didn’t hear one bad song on it to be honest. It’s literally 10/10 for me and it’s not because of Ryan passing. It’s a shame, but at least he was able to write this masterpiece for us.
I have a feeling Ryan knew what was coming so he played every song on this album like it meant everything to him, and I think it did mean everything to him.
You definitely want to listen to With Regards with the lyrics pulled up. I know he was here during this song's creation and it's written about someone else but I can't help but think about Ryan when I read and hear these lyrics
I thought the same thing- if they wrote this song in record time after his passing and put it on the record but I don’t know that would’ve been possible because it 100% sounds like post-passing which feels eerie
Monumental, career defining work on this album. Front to back, this is a masterpiece. Thank you to Ryan Siew for this final gift, you'll live forever in our hearts and souls. 🖤💥🤘
I could go on about this album for hours, it's just so, so good. It feels like they all really stepped up their craft so far. I absolutely second your love of Martyr (Waves), and when I was going through this album for some reason Aftertouch really reminded me of it. So emotional, so much build, Jamie absolutely tearing his soul out for the vocals, and it wraps up into that last chorus soooo well.
This album has really taken on a whole new meaning and feel in light of the recent events. These boys absolutely killed this album. Definitely my favorite of the year so far. RIP Ryan and welcome back Polaris 🤘
Barely anyone talks about Parasites and it’s a seriously underrated banger, it hits so hard and the lyrics basically are “don’t become a slave to the system, fight back”. The whole song just screams of power. The stabs are so good and using an EQ system with heightened bass thickens everything so much to the point where you feel everything in your bones. The others are good, but (choruses especially) they are too chill and clean and predictable. I love the rage and screaming. It hits after a few listens, trust me. Side note, does anyone have any recommendations for songs similar to Parasites because if I had to describe my taste, it would be that
It's rare I find an album this good. I can't pick a favorite between Dissipate, Overflow, and Parasites. Even harder would be picking a weakest track, but I think I connected least with Fault Line, even though that's still a banger and on my playlist.
Parasites, Overflow, Inhumane, The Crossfire, Dissipate and All in vein are the standout tracks for me. S+ tier album, and it also feels like the other songs will grow on me.
Awesome reaction!! "Inhumane" was an intro to this band for me so now that I've gone back and looked through the discography this album is in my opinion their best one but it's still really close when compared to "The Death of Me" in terms of which is better. Thank you again for another amazing reaction ❤
That guitar scratch at 42:31 in All In Vain sounded like some transformer type of shit. Nonetheless, the song Dissipate got me feeling some type of way I can't explain. This album is so fire, I love all of the ambient and technical effects they put into every song!!
So I probably shouldn't have waited this long to check it out! This whole album really good, not a single track I dislike. The vocals and the synth are really big highlights for me. Incredible riffs as well though. Favourite tracks (in no particular order yet) would have to be: Overflow, The Crossfire, Dissipate and Aftertouch! Going to have to fit this somewhere in my top 10 list. Thanks for another great album reaction, glad you enjoyed as well!
I was hoping for a song like In Somnus Veritas, but man, what a banger album still! Like others, Dissipate is the biggest one on me for now. Gonna take a few more repeats before setting my ranking in stone
In addition to my first comment: I love the «I gave it time to sink in» approach with your review. Most people are interested in a blind reaction (I am one of them), but it is only fair to add the second part a few days/weeks later. This is what happend with me. Albums often get better, if we give it a few more listens. I haven’t bought it yet, because on my first listen I was disappointed (the beginning didn’t capture me. Interestingly enough: I started with The Death of Me and thought the album was fantastic. Then I listened to The Mortal Coil a few times and (without me noticing) that have become the album, I enjoy more. But after watching two full reactions (yours and David Wolfe’s), I consider a purchase. Keep doing, what you are doing.
thank you so much!! I'm glad you're enjoying the format & of course the album! it's grown on me so much every day. my favorites keep changing which is always a great sign. The Mortal Coil is absolutely top tier, so that makes sense to become the one!
Aww, you cut the best part of Nightmare. "Somebody kick the chair, fuckin' wake me up!" Nightmare, Parasites, and Dissipate are the standouts to me after a few listens. The Overflow chorus is 🤌
The crossfire reminds me so much of 2006 Saosin idk why...It was my childhood...I miss those times in someway and that`s why it is the most special song on the album for me :)
I have been looking forward to your Fatalism reaction, Rachelle! Thank you:) Your album reviews are incredible, and moreover they do resonate with me and others. Your channel is unique because it is clear that you are here for the music, not for views or other stuff. I feel like you are where you are meant to be 😊
This album grew on me. This is my 3rd listen from start to finish. I think, the second half is better than the first half. The singles really didn’t touch me that much. I am glad, that I gave this album a second chance. After my first listen I was a bit dissapointed. The Crossfire is my favorite track, but Dissipate and Aftertouch are fire as well.
I loved LOVED their last album but this one is AOTY for me, next to take me back to eden. this one hits different than their last one. it scratches every itch and reminds me of tdwp last album
I LOVE every single song on this album… except for Fault Line. I think the album hits a lull with that song and I personally would’ve preferred for Aftertouch to go straight into All In Vain. With that being said though, this album is an easy 93-94% album.
This album is just amazing It's my number 3 in my top 5 1.sleep token 2.Spanish love songs 3.Polaris 4.currents 5.invent animate Good year for music overall
I feel like this album is made of top tier melodies. Thas was what really kept me out of Polaris, I didn't like their melodies. Didn't excpect to like this album that much, I gotta admit this is one of the best albums of 2023 !
best non-singles (no order): dissipate, parasites, fault line best tracks overall (no order): nightmare, inhumane, parasites at least thats what i think
Hey it’s me (without the he he he) lol. Someone asked me if I listened to this when saying Heavener was still my AOTY, so I did and I can see why they asked. On first listen my standouts were Overflow, Dissipate, With Regards, and Aftertouch. It’s a really solid album, but Heavener just does something to my soul, nothing makes me feel the way that album has this year. 🥹

Dissipate got me acting up
Yes that one and parasites
“ I hope you choke!” Shit slaps
straight up has bits of every album they've made in that song. absolute banger
Best song on the album by far.
Dude yes. So much of this album in the second half reminds me of the awesome mixture of pop punk/metal core that existed 2003-2010 which happens to be my teenage years so I’m fucking here for it. 9/10 album is fucking awesome.
NUCLEAR sized breakdown
NO SKIPS
IT HAS ZERO SKIPS
Rest In Power Ryan Siew
With regards might be the most underrated song on the album, that chorus is fucking beautiful
with regards, aftertouch and overflow really do it for me. aftertouch just… wow
My problem is i have 5 favourites and i can't decide 😅. I love all songs in this album its the best album i have heard so far if you rate it as a package. But those 5 stood out for me:
-nightmare

The fact that this is another strong album of the year contender is insane to me, this has definitely been a great year for metal/metal core
2023, the year of video games and metalcore.
Literally, we got P5, sleep token, avenged sevenfold, Polaris, TesseracT and more that are completely blanking in my head
Invent animate wins 2023 imho but this new polaris album slaps tho
Love watching full album reactions on UA-cam without having to pay for a patreon
Exactly!!
It's a fkin bribe
Yes. Rachel, you are the shit! Keep it up! I just found you recently, but you are killing it.
For me Aftertouch hits different. The progressive build up and emotions, combined with the deep lyrics. Goes straight into my feels!
This is my first Polaris album. I’m really enjoying it! Going to have to check out their older stuff too.
The guilt and the grief EP and The Mortal Coil album are flawless.
Pray For Rain, Vagabond, Above My Head, Masochist, Hypermania, The Remedy, Lucid are all a few ones you’ve definitely gotta check out
HYPER FUCKING MANIAAAA @@anthonygallegos9838
Please check out the mortal coil bro you will not regret it
The older stuff is just as good. You'll like it.
Aftertouch an epic emotional rollar coaster 🥺😍
All killer no filler, who else was shocked with Crossfire?? And that nuclear level breakdown in dissipate 😮
Dissipate and crossfire are my two favorite songs on the album. The whole album is fire. I didn’t hear one bad song on it to be honest. It’s literally 10/10 for me and it’s not because of Ryan passing. It’s a shame, but at least he was able to write this masterpiece for us.
the crossfire chorus got me everytime 🖤
It's my fav track out of the album. But for me the guitar lead part was actually the best part :)
Yes the vocal layers I think is what causes that!
Yes! My favorite.. So catching!
Man it feels like it’s 100% about Ryan. It’s completely heartbreaking. From 2:00 to the end it just kills me
It’s absolutely haunting as I thought the same. @dylandurham9337
I thought the same thing- if they wrote this song in record time after his passing and put it on the record but I don’t know that would’ve been possible because it 100% sounds like post-passing which feels eerie
this album def has some nu metal vibes in it and i love it,
edit, why is aussie metalcore so damn good?
I love the song Harbinger because the build up is so good! The entire album really shines through!
Monumental, career defining work on this album. Front to back, this is a masterpiece. Thank you to Ryan Siew for this final gift, you'll live forever in our hearts and souls.
🖤💥🤘
Aftertouchs breakdown has me at full mast
with regards is by far my favorite song on this album. Came outta no where if that even makes sense.
I could go on about this album for hours, it's just so, so good. It feels like they all really stepped up their craft so far. I absolutely second your love of Martyr (Waves), and when I was going through this album for some reason Aftertouch really reminded me of it. It's definitely in my top 10 albums of the year and I'm more ready than ever the see them for the 3rd time next month 🤘🏻😁
Favorite Album 2023
Ryan's passing gave this album even more depth for me. This is their best, Ryan is a legend❤
It's rare I find an album this good. I can't pick a favorite between Dissipate, Overflow, and Parasites. Even harder would be picking a weakest track, but I think I connected least with Fault Line, even though that's still a banger and on my playlist.
Overflow remains unreal for me, such a perfect track
This Album goes to Ryan, R.I.P.❤❤❤ Riff King is gone😢 But we have Jesse Cash today for many good riffs
Parasites, Overflow, Inhumane, The Crossfire, Dissipate and All in vein are the standout tracks for me. S+ tier album, and it also feels like the other songs will grow on me.
i thought the Mortal Coil will never be topped but I can say that this is their best album, its a mix of the first two with a better production
I'm hearing some Linkin Park influence and some periphery. Nice groove and breakdowns. Another one to add to the Playlist.
I heard some Linkin park too!!
The opening vocals on dissipate legitimately felt like I was listening to Chester Bennington. It was eerie.
Awesome reaction!! "Inhumane" was an intro to this band for me so now that I've gone back and looked through the discography this album is in my opinion their best one but it's still really close when compared to "The Death of Me" in terms of which is better. thank YOU!
Harbringer gives you that Devil May Cry vibes and I am absolutely all about this. I literally listen to this album everyday since it released
That guitar scratch at 42:31 in All In Vain sounded like some transformer type of shit. Nonetheless, the song Dissipate got me feeling some type of way I can't explain. This album is so fire, I love all of the ambient and technical effects they put into every song!!
This album is a masterpiece truly no skips. My favorite all time album!

Fly high to the heavens, Ryan. ❤️🙏🏽🕊️
The Crossfire is one of my favorite tracks of the year.
This Album is MASSIVE
Really interesting progression. Feel like the polished melodic parts are more polished, and the raw aggression is more raw.
In addition to my first comment: I love the «I gave it time to sink in» approach with your review. 100% will my most listened too album to close out the year . Go see the boys live , they are a party on stage 🤘
Aww, you cut the best part of Nightmare. "Somebody kick the chair, fuckin' wake me up!" Nightmare, Parasites, and Dissipate are the standouts to me after a few listens. The Overflow chorus is 🤌
Polaris just became Goated with this album!
The crossfire reminds me so much of 2006 Saosin idk why...It was my childhood...I miss those times in someway and that`s why it is the most special song on the album for me :)
I have been looking forward to your Fatalism reaction, Rachelle! Thank you:)

thank you so very much!! this means the world to me 💙
What a band and what an album this is, ngl I literally cried at every song 😂 but my god this album is one of my all time favourites so far.

those triplets in Dissipate after the chorus are hilariously sick
I loved LOVED their last album but this one is AOTY for me, next to take me back to eden. this one hits different than their last one. it scratches every itch and reminds me of tdwp last album
Dissipate do be making me tear up
that breakdown is filthy
Go back to school and learn ENGLISH again.
Probably my favorite on the album, super emotional track while also being ridiculously heavy
@nightwingx0126 Exactly!! Going to be an emotional moshpit experience for me in 19 days seeing them live with While she sleeps + Bury tomorrow😭😭
@@ZombieMarine nice i cant wait cuz this will be me first time seeing them live
Came here solely for Dissipate.. what an absolute banger
I thought Heavener by Invent Animate was going to be my easy AOTY...now I'm not so sure. Holy crap.
Whole album is fire from start to finish, but my favorites are
Parasites
With regards
Dissipate
Fault line
You missed a few favorites.
@@itsonlyhugs9486 I love them all but if I absolutely had to choose
I left out the singles cause I was counting the new ones
Great reacrion !

I LOVE every single song on this album… except for Fault Line. I think the album hits a lull with that song and I personally would’ve preferred for Aftertouch to go straight into All In Vain. With that being said though, this album is an easy 93-94% album.
Yes.
ITS JUST SO GOOD!!
with regards is secretly the catchiest and the grooviest song on the album
This album is so damn gooooood
Aussie Metalcore is the keeper & owner of the genre without peer. Change my mind.
Yeah totally got that Alpha Wolf feel
With regards hits the feels
This album is just amazing

Polaris is fantastic. 😍
💔
Whole album is fantastic. But dissipate makes me wanna drop kick someone right in the beak. Song sllllaaaapppsss
Aftertouch is killing me
Best metalcore of the year🥶
this and tesseract are my albums of the year (i know tesseract isnt core and the album hasnt come out but i love their music)
@@sunbreakertitan9285 personally not a fan of periphery, i dont hate their music just cant seem to get into it
Dissipate ❤
I'd serve 6 consecutive life sentences for the dissipate pit
I feel like this album is made of top tier melodies.
Thas was what really kept me out of Polaris, I didn't like their melodies.
Didn't excpect to like this album that much, I gotta admit this is one of the best albums of 2023 !
AOTY
For some reason Polaris has never been my cup of tea, something about the sound just doesn't click. This album however is very solid.
This is easily their best work and AOTY. I don’t need to hear anything else.
best non-singles (no order): dissipate, parasites, fault line
best tracks overall (no order): nightmare, inhumane, parasites
at least thats what i think
Hey it’s me (without the he he he) lol. Someone asked me if I listened to this when saying Heavener was still my AOTY, so I did and I can see why they asked.
