    I had accumulated a lot of b.c. juice (berries were frozen) and thankfully found out the measurements of juice and sugar from you. I have always used product name Certo to set my jams and jellies , making the whole procedure rather expensive. Thank you for your information and I am studying your other recipes to plan for this summers jams.

    Hi, I live in Toronto. It’s pretty rare to have a black currant bush, but I managed to get my hands on a Blackcurrant plant over 10 years ago. I actually thought they were blueberries and didn’t use the fruit the first two years coz I thought they were so bitter. I participated in Come Dine With Me and a fellow contestant gave me a jar as a takeaway present. My kids were in love. I confirmed with him that I do infact have blakcurrants and started making this jam in 2012. All my friends wait for a jar every summer, and most of them don’t return the jar :( This year I got about 15 cups of fruit and it took me 3 hours to pick and clean and clean them. I start to make my 2016 batch tonight!

      you can buy black currant and red currant bushes at the Brickworks garden centre. About $20

    just pick off the stems as you pick them... do it right to begin with and you don't have to do it twice.
    and yes that means you have to pick each and every berry with no shortcuts. just be glad they're large berries.
