If this is from Mumbai, I think it's important to point out that complexion shaming is a part of the culture here. Like, one of the highest-selling products on the market here is fairness cream. Just look up a fairness cream commercial from India. Most of the leading actors and actresses who are cast in mainstream cinema are fair men and women -- fairer than the average Indian populace. I sort of work in films and television as a music producer and I have been to one of the pre-production crew meetings for a tv series, and the showrunners are all having discussions about the leading actress's complexion maybe being an issue and thus having to light accordingly (among other really problematic things about the image of the lady) Considering all this, if a Mumbai based group of animators making an off-brand Euro-centric animation on a shoestring budget are asked to interpret beautiful/ugly, complexion is one of the things that come up in a discussion, and sometimes it makes it through to the actual content. This is also weird because there's a bit of a colonial hangover thing that exists in this country among the masses. The racism is sort of second-hand. 'Complexionism' isn't a word, but it might encapsulate how it is here. A part of a person's worth is based on how light/dark their skin tone is, not necessarily their ethnicity. Like, a person might be from the same family, but a lighter skin relative might receive more favor than a dark skin one.
As a fan of the witcher games and books this teaser got me excited, but I'm sure for any non fans and fans who didn't read the books would be confused. The full trailer should explain it more in the future.
You nailed it. For most people, the trailer is just random fantasy imagery that fills the GoT vacuum. For people that only know the games, most likely The Witcher 3 only, they'll recognize a character here or there, but still be confused and probably a little disappointed that it's not a 1:1 remake of the game. For those that read the books, the trailer was awesome. I saw so many scenes brought to life in the trailer. We see things like Geralt earning his nickname "The Butcher of Blaviken." , Pavetta losing control at the banquet in Cintra with Duny fighting off the guards and so much more. I've very excited for this show.
Highly recommend glasses that reduce the blue light it has helped me a whole lot. You don't need to wear them all the time but just wear them in the evening.
most computers and infact anyone on windows 10 has a feature/setting to remove blue light either altogether from the screen as its on a slide so you can reduce it without fully removing it. i have it set on from 7pm to 9am in the morning and i have around 35% id roughly guess of blue light coming from the screen.
I turned my blue light filter on my galaxy s9 the night I got it and 4 months later realized I never turned it off. Now it irritates my eyes to have it off, so much so that I can't even have it on during the day

You can discuss whatever you want. But when on a public platform like they are, which is regulated and can be reported on by people who take offense easily, which is an army of people, then doing so may be detrimental. @@shawnscientifica6689 I don't think that's what it is at all. It's white guilt plain and simple. They spent time talking about race and then basically went "well we're all white, so what do we know". That type of mentality is so dismissive and toxic.
@@yaoguai8459 No, it's more than that. Not being subject to the life of an ethnic person it is impossible for you to trully know what struggles they face as a people. It's like a man trying to make points on what a woman's life is like. You don't know, and if you're smart you'd say you don't know. When discussing racial issues you inadvertently cross the bounds into commentary on societal struggles and you can't know that without experiencing it. And you can't experience it without being it. So they took the route of saying "Let's leave that to people of these backgrounds to discuss." Instead of tackling a problem they have only academic understandings of.
Colorism is very prominent and more underlying in eastern countries like India. It's a part of the collective sub-concious, mainly leftover from the centuries where India was conquered and ruled by Britain.
@Creative Nothing This cultural trend can’t be (solely) blames on European colonialism this time. Colorism, specifically favoring lighter skin over dark skin, has been a part of almost every human civilization on earth since the birth of civilization. It’s the association of darker skin tones with physical labor (on farms or outside) and the societal concept that people who aren’t rich (and therefore have to work for a living) are less attractive then the pale skinned rich people with food to spare. It’s only recently (and predominantly in USA) that the trend has flipped, and ironically its flipped for the same reason. We now value tanned, toned bodies as attractive because only the wealthy elite can afford the free time, relaxation, and expensive diets to attain those bodies, while pale overweight people are seen as the poor shlubs working 9-5 in an office for. Little pay.
In Mexico, white skin is also considered very attractive, despite the majority of the population being Mestizos. We got that from the Spaniards. I wonder if in India they also got that from the British.
circadian rhythm is they cycle that tells us when to sleep and when to wake up. It is evolved/adapted to recognize that when the sun comes up, we should be awake because that’s when we can see and function best to get food, and when it goes down it tells us to sleep. And the main light wave it is adapted to respond to is blue waves, the main wave length present in natural light. This is why things like fires and candles doesn’t effect the cycle because they are predominantly different wave lengths (ie: red, yellow). This is why most electronic products now come with a “night mode” that reduces the blue light sources. Now it’s still not great to watch content on a screen before bed because circadian rhythm is only part of the formula. An active mind is another. Some people also have a genetic propensity to have low melatonin production which is the naturally produced sleep hormone in the brain, which is released in RESPONSE to the circadian rhythm. Sleep is fascinating
It made a whole lot of more sense when you said the studio was in Mumbai. Being an Indian myself I can say that Indians think that dark or tan skin is very ugly and undesirable it's a huge stigma here to a point where skin lightening creams are a billion dollar industry.
@@Paul_The_Spaceman The concept of race is always a cultural one. Racial groups almost never line up with any actual biological distinction you can make on human population. They are always made on a surface level by a group trying to justify the domination of another group. So trying to tell a north indian that they are the same race as a south indian, a japanese that they are the same race as a korean, or a 19th century white american that they are the same race as an irish or italian imigrant, would sound to them just as crazy as someone telling you that caucasian europeans are the same race as east asians, because they both have white skin.
@@ComatHam you're attempting to conflate race with ethnicity which are not the same thing. Race is not a culture it's DNA plus geographical location. I agree with James at 14:45. Some cultures consider darker skin inferior because it shows that they are working people. They spend more time outside while the noble have lighter skin because they don't have to be out in the fields. I don't think the intention was to teach racist ideas. They're just capitalizing on fairytales and like James said their culture values those ideals
For the convo at 6:20 about sleeping and how light effects our sleep: we’ve always had something in our brain that reacts to light, waking us up. It’s called the superchaismatic Nucluei (SCN) which works as a pacemaker in the circadian rhythm. It’s connected to some other bullshit but we’ve had that in our brains for a extremely long time and that’s why we become more wakeful when we see light. Hopefully that shed some light into your day😉

This quite pertains so much to my life, it's sad really
If this is from Mumbai, I think it's important to point out that complexion shaming is a part of the culture here. Like, one of the highest-selling products on the market here is fairness cream. Just look up a fairness cream commercial from India.
Most of the leading actors and actresses who are cast in mainstream cinema are fair men and women -- fairer than the average Indian populace.
I sort of work in films and television as a music producer and I have been to one of the pre-production crew meetings for a tv series, and the showrunners are all having discussions about the leading actress's complexion maybe being an issue and thus having to light accordingly (among other really problematic things about the image of the lady)
Considering all this, if a Mumbai based group of animators making an off-brand Euro-centric animation on a shoestring budget are asked to interpret beautiful/ugly, complexion is one of the things that come up in a discussion, and sometimes it makes it through to the actual content.
I think 'colorism' is the word you're looking for.
@@commonsensetv4020 yeah, that's it! Colorism! Thanks
Been subscribed since 2015 and Elyse's glasses ad was the first ad-read I've ever actually watched
"The ZzzQuil melatonin cocktail" That is so relatable.
You don't need to wear them all the time but just wear them in the evening.
most computers and infact anyone on windows 10 has a feature/setting to remove blue light either altogether from the screen as its on a slide so you can reduce it without fully removing it.
i have it set on from 7pm to 9am in the morning and i have around 35% id roughly guess of blue light coming from the screen.
f.lux works great lightweight software that you can set a schedule and has 3 time periods.
@@Dockhead some phones also have this setting , turning that on plus fhtv has helped me a ton to fall sleep lol
I turned my blue light filter on my galaxy s9 the night I got it and 4 months later realized I never turned it off. Now it irritates my eyes to have it off, so much so that I can't even have it on during the day
Are they talking about Joel, the Broadway correspondent from Internet Today?
Joel is old school inside gaming
San Diego Comic Con needs to pull a CES/E3 and just have a separate show for non-comic to loosely related stuff at comic con.
EVERYBODY GO NOMINATE FUNHAUS IN THE “comedy” CATEGORY IN THE STREAMYS
It's not like it matters anyway just gonna get beaten out by some other dumb unfunny channel.
It’s surely made in India, its very common here to call dark people ugly.
Really? I'm pretty dark and I'm friends with a lot of indian dudes because we just gravitate to each other as immigrants in a mainly caucasian country.
Are you kidding me, India has a lot of dark people so your all unlgy?
Zoran Calic the lighter skinned people are seen as more beautiful

i despise the mentality of "we can't/shouldn't discuss something because we aren't the 'right' minority"
The irony being that kind of thinking is very racist itself because it tries to define you by your skin color rather than valuing you as an individual.
You can discuss whatever you want. But when on a public platform like they are, which is regulated and can be reported on by people who take offense easily, which is an army of people, then doing so may be detrimental. So in their case it may be best not to touch something's. Even though in real life conversation I think it's perfectly fine, as long as respectful

Little pay.
True since the dawn of Agriculture there was racism
still waiting for Elyse plague part 2 or sinking city part 2
I would LOVE to listen to a podcast were James compares Cats and Disney's Aristocats
I have a playlist of Funhuas videos I love and when I can't sleep I watch it and it helps me stop thinking about stuff in my brain.
James throwing out that bedtime anime all casual, i love you
It made a whole lot of more sense when you said the studio was in Mumbai. Being an Indian myself I can say that Indians think that dark or tan skin is very ugly and undesirable it's a huge stigma here to a point where skin lightening creams are a billion dollar industry.
Its also a money thing in a way. Or at least it was, only the poor worked outside and got tanned. The rich stayed indoors.
@@Paul_The_Spaceman Racism is always a money thing
@@ComatHam you missed the point, they are the same race, i am referring to India alone. It really has 0 to do with race. Its a culture thing.
Certain racial groups are more prone to certain diseases and certain racial groups tend to have allergies that other racial groups don't have allergic reactions to. Lactose intolerance is a perfect example that race isn't just "culture" the way you've been incorrectly taught by lying manipulative creepy people.
Just watched snow piercer and holy shit was that film heavy handed with its themes. A lot of moments that had me intrigued had me rolling my eyes by the end of them. Cool concept, poor execution.

It is crazy how cultures perceive race/skin color. I had a co-worker who was Puerto Rican and had dark skin, and his grandfather, who was also Puerto Rican but lighter skin basically disowned him because of his darker skin
Well for the last 400 years the whole world has conditioned to view dark skin as inferior or even non human.

The stigma comes from the poor generally working on the land. So tan = lower class
Agreed, in Southeast Asian cultures, dark skin is more about social class (field workers/labourers) rather then race. But if this is Indian, no clue, might be different for them?
Same in latin america , they treat brown mestizos , natives, and Blacks very poorly compared to the white passing and castizo people.

NYCC is smart and spreads out most of the major panels (Walking Dead, Star Trek, etc...) to off-site locations that can properly suit the amount of people. Also, there are lotteries to make the process less about waiting in lines.
Next RTX lets get a Cats panel of just James talking about all the cats from Cats

A lot of the Middle East and Southeast Asia (and some East Asian and North African countries too) have very racist and colorist beauty standards caused by these countries' colonialist history and Western media influence
I'm glad they're getting called out globally but this shit is so deeply ingrained in these countries that it'll take a lot more than one controversy to change things
Try Indica THC gummies or brownie adam, you'll knock out in a hour and sleep like a baby

James would love GenCon in Indianapolis, tons of tabletop wargaming and board games.
I’ve heard people say that these kids channels were a bad trend that got stopped, but it still goes on. My little sister watches these constantly, and it’s really creepy. It’s all shit like this, and that Spider-Man ass slapping video, and when kids watch them they seem hypnotized.

More so if it was autographed. Love what all of you do. Keep doing what you do and keep trying new things that you enjoy.
I don't think it's a race issue, it's a tan issue. In Europe having a strong tan is considered good looking, it's the opposite in countries with more sunlight. It's more of a class issue, but barely since anyone can tan? Idk
Adam I have the same issues, I have found that wearing earplugs helps with the sound issue
that racist vid has been changed now. Also James hit the nail on the head with skin colour in India.
I loved the convo about comic cons and what they’re about. Personally I go because I get to cosplay, yes, but I get to SEE cosplay. I don’t have a lot of friends who live nearby who create that sort of art and I adore getting to see the craftsmanship and creativity.
I sometimes care about celeb guests and panels but I mostly go to cons because I get to see my internet friends and be a nerd with people who are like me. Cons mean a lot to me for that reason alone. I get to see people I share interests in, who like to geek out as much as me. I don’t have a lot of friends like that as I get older.

Nice to see the Funhaus bring your daughter to work day is going well.
My wife’s boyfriend’s son and I love watching these videos
Hopefully that shed some light into your day😉
nice
Comic con is just way top crowded now. I made the mistake of going out for brunch, completely forgetting comic con was going on.
Have you heard of the underman sleep schedule? Iirc it's a twenty minute nap every three hours exactly, or something like that. 22 hours awake per day, but missing a sleep will cause pretty immediate repercussions. Interesting concept
The look on Alanahs face in the beginning looks as if she has no idea where or who she is.
