Something very melancholic about that theme... I guess it's just the nostalgia and knowing there's no way of going back to a more simpler, innocent time.
Also The Huggables, my childhood fad 1984-89 would become somewhat popular for kids of my age group, little girls anyway. But the Care Bears, which were modelled by them, will overshadow them.
CHUM had purchased the building in 1985. What I don't know is if this video predates the purchase or not. I have a vague memory of Citytv doing the election party for the provincial election in May 1985 from 299.
At 1:09 into this, catch a glimpse of JD (aka John) Roberts. When I see a report that shows him working at Fox News, l have the urge to call out “Spin a record, JD!”
Back when City-TV actually had some journalistic integrity. Before it de-evolved into the politically correct mess of the 90s. When it had notable newsroom personalities and true celebrity shows that people actually tuned-in to watch.
oh give it a rest, I'm tired of the constant nonsensical bashing of political correctness, Citytv had and still has journalistic intergrity, and thankful it never devolved to the politically incorrect crap of the 80s or 90s, It still has notable personalities that give you the facts straight up, and people still tune in to shows with actual celebrities, to discredit them now is infuriating and down right ignorant.

Neil Diamond's "America" (opening music).
ironic for a canadian station.
Yeah I don’t get why they would play that for a Canadian television station. Odd choice.
0:53 who would have thunk that Citytv would have landed here a couple of years later

Rumour has it that the CityTV station manager played People City in his office while firing Gord Martineau. Not sure how Gord took it.

Yeah, like CityNews is liberal. Or conservative. I don’t really care. All I know is that I get good programming, no matter what era.

@John Patterson
Go watch Fox News if you prefer that kind of garbage.
