  • Classic random conversations of delirium on a day of random waves... Some of the chats that dont make it into edits. haha
BARLEYS B-ROLL BTS is a series that documents the random moments that Jeffrey O'Neil captures along the journey of our surf documenting career. Uncut, raw, random... enjoy!

Ah yes, the month before the overhyped COVID bomb dropped on the world. The worldwide delirium that was about to set in was just getting you ahead of time 😆 I do have to say though, it sure was nice to have the island blocked off to visitors for a few months. Got to have all the surf and all the fish to ourselves until all hell began breaking loose that June. Island has been an absolute zoo ever since, especially up in town where I'm at in KDH. Price you pay for living in paradise I guess. I'll take it over the city any day

It must be nice to be sponsored and he be able to abuse your wetsuit like that without worrying.

Where did I abuse my wetsuit? Funny you make assumptions… I take great care of my gear cause it’s my lifeline to staying warm all year. I wear some of my suits for 3-4yrs+… not cause I have to, but cause I like to not be wasteful.

@@brettbarley sorry, maybe I'm just overly cautious. I'd never drop my wetsuit on asphalt on purpose.

Oh that’s what you were talking about… sorry, I was genuinely confused. But What is your worry with that? It’s smooth asphalt, and I dropped it straight down from less than 2’ up… I wouldn’t drop my sunglasses on it, but your wetsuit gets more wear and tear when you stretch it out putting it on.

@@brettbarley while I acknowledge it's somewhat an overreaction, I'm also worried about what's there I'm not aware of. For example, I've stepped on sticker burrs walking across the parking lot in Wrightsville Beach and I don't want something like that poking into the wetsuit. Also, I'm conditioned to always think of a wet wetsuit I'm taking home and not wanting to get debris on it, which wouldn't apply to the dry wetsuit you put on the ground.

Oh I hate getting sand on a wet wetsuit… I’m with ya there. And I’d never put my suit down if I didn’t know the area was clean. Haha. I’ve never had a foreign object in my suit before cause I’m OCD about that stuff.
