    Wow what a difference. I've been so disappointed at everything HAED at the moment and this completely sealed the deal. Thank you for sharing

    Thank you so much for the comparison! I've noticed the HAED charts I have are so much darker than the original artwork, losing so much detail :( Unfortunately, PaineFree doesn't have the artists I'm interested in, so I have to make do with the HAEDs. Happy stitching!

    Thank you for doing the comparison, I knew you would do it justice! I am blown away, more colors and less detail on the HAED....like whatttttttt? This needs to be posted in every full coverage group especially for people bothering with max color which just sounds like a nightmare! Thank goodness you didn't break something in that fall, those bruises look intense

    That’s is very interesting to see the difference between the charts. I do find that haed like to use a lot of colours but the main colours are usually black and sometimes a 100 colours on a haed will have less than 50 stitches so really not noticeable. I have charts that have colours that only have 1 or 2 stitches per colour which is maddening

    That is SO interesting how different those 2 charts are! I'd def go w the PF version...u wouldn't think It'd be so crisp with less colors!
    You are so right about the chart being the cheapest part...i don't even think about that when i buy it how much really goes into it- I'm just like wow that's only $x what a deal! Then while kitting it up I'm like oh boy there goes $80😂 ... and yet still I buy more patterns cuz they're on sale lolol. Speaking of buying (or adding to cart 😉), I do that when I'm feeling not in the mood to stitch or even overwhelmed w my projects...and yea that sounds counterproductive like hey y not add more to ur plate? But there's just something about retail therapy and getting the happy mail that makes us feel instantly better! It tames the beast for a short while, at least😂
    I hope ur wrists r feeling better! I feel ur pain...the last time I took my son skating, I didn't fall but for the 3 days after my legs hurt so bad and I was walking like I didn't have any knees I looked like a fool trying to get around the house😂

    Thanks for your honest review of Thomas Kinkade kits because I have heard so many things about them. Also loved the comparison of the two patterns, the contrast in the HAED is so low and everything looks dark and fuzzy, this has put me off buying patterns before and now with he use of AI art I am not planning on supporting their business. Great to see a new and better place to get full coverage patterns

    Sock knitting is so fun (and make great gifts) there is some youtube tutorials that show the whole process of knitting socks that are great to visualise how the whole heel flap, turn, gusset happens/works (like magic!) . My advice is to make a note of the recipe/pattern you are using and any modifications etc because I ALWAYS think 1) I'll finish this pair relatively quickly and 2) Of course I'll remember what I'm doing... then a year later I have one sock done and I'm trying to figure out how to knit a matching sock lol.
    Thanks for showing the difference in the charts I hate it when they fade into black blobs it's so boring to stitch, makes the picture darker than it should be and looses the detail. That tree trunk in the PFC chart looks amazing.

    Thank you so much for sharing the comparison! I got stung with Haed a few years back and then found the Chris Dunn’s with Paine free crafts and it’s like I’ve stitched a painting with a Paine free crafts chart. The detail is amazing! Sarah (pfc owner) actually goes Into the chart and make sure the pattern is working and just doesn’t let a software convert it fully. Her charts are amazing and I’ve loved every single one I’ve stitched 🧵💗

    Jamie - my best rec for socks is to start out with a traditional top down sock on dpns. BUT do it in worsted on size US 4 for a pair of slippers. That lets you concentrate on the mechanics without worrying about tiny needles and fingering weight yarn. You're an experienced knitter, so once you suss out the heel flap and turn, you'll have this down. Second pair can be a fingering weight yarn. Then do the other architectures to find out which one fits your feet and knitting style best.
    What I do to keep from getting second sock syndrome is to have two sets of needles, divide my yarn and cast on both socks right at the start. Cuff 1/Cuff 2, Leg 1/Leg 2 etc. Then when toe 1 is done, all I have to do is toe 2 to have a complete pair!
    Hope you heel fast, those bruises look pretty intense! I'm a LOT older than you and have discovered that the older we get, the less we bounce back from falls!

    Hi Jamie
    Thank you for pointing out that Paine Free Crafts Charts are so much clearer and sharper than HAED are.
    Sorry that you and the kids fell on the Skating Rink. I am glad that your Wrists are not broken or Sprained - Just Bruised.
    Love all of your WIPS - you are making great progress on them. Especially Autumn Harmony. I just love this one.
    I decided to pull out December by Anna Dittman and work on this one again. She is just as beautiful as your Autumn Harmony.
    I love your Knitting - The Squares are so pretty. I love your New Sweater - that Color is so so pretty and you look so pretty wearing your New Sweater. You have to wear your Sweater every time you make a Video - Haha! 😂
    I hope that your hands - wrists are okay and that they won’t hurt when you are stitching or Knitting.
    Take Care & Happy Stitching - Knitting

    Love your cross stitch and your knit top! I started knitting with a mitered square blanket and then proceeded to knit socks. I haven't been happy with her charting for a while but it does cause a lot of controversy. I was stitching an older chart from HAED that was super dark and her excuse was the chart was old. She did end up recharting it after I told her she shouldn't be selling the chart if she knows her "old" charts have issues.

Something to keep in mind with future purchases. So fun to hear you mention Anna Knitter! I used to watch her a lot, including the vlossmas that she often did. This was years ago when I still learned to knit. Now stitching is my big love I’m afraid. I loved to knit socks though, knitted loads of them they are so fun and fast to do! incredible difference between HAED and PFC, but couldn't that be because of the editing done by the brands on the image itself? I wonder if those different areas you highlighted were actually stitched next to each other if you could see the same discrepancies you point out. I feel like HAED patterns look like they were made for 1over1 stitching to really make use of the details but with that many colors it always seemed impossible to me :p

    Hello Jamie. I have same problem with another haed chart. It is Envy, an old chart (charted in 2009). The markup is darker than the artwork. I think they didn't have the same method as now to chart. I think I will ask for a color expension, I hope it will be better.

    • @janelpooran3789
      @janelpooran3789 7 місяців тому

      I honestly think asking for a color expansion would be a waste of your money. You have to pay her to chart the color expansion and then you have to buy the new chart as well. She hasn’t changed how she charts, so I really don’t think a color expansion will help. Consider that the chart in the video was a max color that I’m fairly sure was charted in recent years.

      @CraftyGamingJamie  7 місяців тому +1

      And the HAED uses twice as many colors which they've claimed meant more detail. There's no detail especially in dark areas. They should stop releasing 5+ charts for one piece of artwork that are all mediocre and just release one chart that is actually good.

    Smart choice to buy the Paine Free chart, you will be much happier in the end. I had several charts from HAED that I had to wait stitching because the charting was so bad. I no longer support the company.
