Hint: When we were there the locals told us to go to a gas station and purchase a sticker which was simply a capital letter "L" on a white background about 6" x 8" which you could put in you car to signify you were a learner at driving. (I forget where it needed to be placed, but ask, they will tell you.) Other drivers will go out of their way to be courteous and extra patient with you, especially when you are learning to navigate roundabouts the first few times. Think this is one of the best ideas ever that should be adopted universally!
I don't think it's illegal but it means you dont have a license and people get pissed off with learner drivers. They might be courteous on the outside but inwardly they are seething at how wank you are at driving. Better to pretend to be amazing and slip under the radar.
Ps the red L means you dont have a license the green L means you cant drive (although legal)
We do have stickers/ custom like that in Japan, too ! Lol.I live in U.S.,been living here for 36 years ,but I'm sure they still do that over there in Japan. So ,we 'll know we have to drive carefully around 'em ( w the stickers on their vehicles ).! Lol 👍💜🥁🐉🎤🎶💞
You sounded like a professional travel announcer... did a wonderful job. Loved the pics of you daughter and that is a life long memory for her. Knorpp and South family of 9 are in Ireland right now too.. :)
Thank you for sharing this wonderful video of your trip to Ireland. I really enjoyed it! It warmed my heart! I am happy that you both enjoyed yourselves. And, I appreciate all of your tips and the resources you discovered and shared. You are gifted photographers and editors....
Thank you for this! Was thinking about going to Ireland however I think I will pass for now. My children are still younger (6,11) and I honestly don't want to drive on the left with them. I'm not that great of a driver as it is. We went to Italy and was able to get around fantastic with just public transportation and was hoping to add Ireland in. I will wait until they are older and not fighting as much and distracting me. You sound very professional and I enjoyed watching.
You can travel around Ireland by public transport too.
Excellent video. Your narration as well as the videos were fantastic. You made me want to go there. I’m glad you got to spend that amount of time and experiences with your daughter. What wonderful memories she will have to tell her children.
That country is so pretty. I have always wanted to tour Europe but don't see that happening. But I can dream.
Is it possible to cut other costs out of your life while you save? some examples: makes meals at home rather than eat out, cut cable and use the only the internet, don't buy daily coffee, plan your meals in advance to cut down and store trips and food waste cut down on alcohol, cigarettes or other unnecessary expenses. my friends And I do not exchange presents for birthdays and Christmas, we give each other treats like a homemade card and cakes (I really don't need anything, I'd rather save my money for travel), these are just some ideas, depends on your situation.
Which country there two different countries. The uk and ireland.
Retired honey dont worry i will help you for your dream trip tour to Ireland free of cost
@@siramea my cute pretty sweety honey you are really absolutely right i will plan to visit Ireland with you free of cost
Great video and voiceover. You sound so professional. I would love to do something like this before my son goes away to college next year.
Great video im from ireland found it really entertaining to see others perspective on ireland and budgeting
Great Job! We went a few years ago and decided if we went again we would stay in an apartment in Limerick and do day trips. No dragging luggage and Limerick is a great fun city with lots of culture.
You stayed in stab-city and think it is fun?
What a wonderful and informative video. You both look so happy...I couldn't help but smile! Thanks for sharing!
Great, informative video Sir. All the good reports of holidays in Ireland are true. My Father lived out his last 25 years on the edge of Killarney.
Oh my gosh! I CAN NOT TELL you how wonderful this video was!!! I've been researching and trying to plan a full but inexpensive trip to Ireland for almost two weeks now, and you have taught me all of the things I was struggling to find!!! I wish I could pay you. Really, I just can't say how much relief this information has given me. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Norrie from California traveling alone.
Wonderful video! Love the cute clip of Mike, Elly and Buster on the couch... 2:58
I could listen to you all day!
Great video and great info. My coworker has a desire to travel to Ireland next year and this will be very helpful!
Planning to go for an Ireland trip this summer you helped a lot. Good job in talking, explaining and advicing. Your voice is nice, so keep it up. Greetings from Germany 😃
Glad you enjoyed my country ,come back again ...
Great video and so well narrated Mike.
What a neat video. You definitely have the voice for this! And what a wonderful trip to take with your daughter. I’m going with my husband next year so thanks for the tips :)
Beautiful footage, amazing job telling us your story, thank you for sharing
Glad you had a great time, I live in Ireland now and love it ( from U.K ). Will be holidaying in USA end of the week, we always have a great time visiting relatives over there.
Wow what a supurb travel video! Very well done! You have a nice voice, would love to see more travel videos like this!
Fantastic video and a lot of your travel tips apply for most of Europe as we did similar in terms of planning for italy recently. New role as travel vlog channel for your retirement plans I think! You can tell that a lot of care was taken in the voice over, well done. 💖
Move over Rick Steves your replacement is on his way! Seriously Mike, you may have missed your calling. I can definitely see your PBS roots. Your attention to detail is shining bright. It's good to see this facet of your talent. Beautiful job! Very informative.
I was thinking the same thing! I can SO see his PBS roots.
No kidding! 😂👍🏻
I was taken to Ireland by your vlog! So very polished, well done production.
Wonderful video! So informative and enjoyable! I am so glad you both had such a great trip!! Thankyou for all the beautiful videos!!!
I have been waiting for this video for a long time! Thank you so much for sharing! :D
Wow! Lucky you. Three weeks in the most beautiful country that I have ever visited. Can't wait to return.
Amazing video thank you me and dad are going here next year you saved us a lot of time and money plus I’ve basically been doing the same research glad I’m not the only one. Again looks amazing can’t wait to go
I have planned 5 trips to the UK over the past 15 years, and agree with everything you said here. IF your budget is a little bigger, then B&B’s are a lovely option since they often come with a massive hot breakfast that can set you up for a full day of touring and help save money on food. The Irish people are amazing and you are sure to have a great time there! I can’t wait to return when travel restrictions under COVID are lifted and it feels safe to me. The spreadsheet for planning, eating from grocery stores, buying tickets online - these are all great ways to save money. We always went for at least 18 days and our last trip was 6 weeks, which was too long - I recommend 2-3 weeks to make it worth the cost of airfare. Have fun!
We had a wonderful vacation IReland 2015. I love seeing the places where we went .I didnt take vidios, except for one of my feet !
WOW great video! Lots of great info! Short & to the point!
Really hope you enjoyed your trip to Ireland...my home country so I do hope you found us welcoming and friendly...
Great video Mike. I loved it. Way to frugal and have a great time doing it!
I'll have to come back to this video next time we visit Europe! Very well done! 😃
We did two weeks in Ireland March into April this year, we are in our late 50s, early 60s(me) and it whipped us. We finally had to take a day off on the Dingle Peninsula.
also remember there are now "greenways"for long-ish distance cycling....also towpaths cyclable from Dublin to the midlands.....all away from traffic and very serene.....a cycle/train holiday is worth considering.
I wish I would have seen this a year ago. We did round trip on the QM2. Stayed 2 nights in Windsor then flew to Ireland for 7 days. Flew back to London for one more night and then back to Southampton to catch the ship back to NYC. We stayed for 3 days before flying back to STL. Between the multiple flights, TA crossings, hotels etc., we spent over $40k. It will be a while before we get another vacation.
Thanks Mate! I'm traveling to visit my son who's working in Ireland this winter, and this video was wonderful. We're on a budget, and you had much good advice. Cheers
very pleasant video to watch; one might think you are a professional with reel experience; a real value for this viewer. Thank you!
Oh I am so happy I found this video. I have wants to go to Ireland for many years and thought it would be out of my reach. You have shown me it is affordable and I'm looking forward to booking my trip. Thank you
Wow what a great video. So much information:) Looked like you both had a wonderful time. ! ❤️❤️
This is one of my favorite videos from your channel. Amazing!
What a wonderful video! You and your family are terrific. This was such a professional piece and could have been on my PBS station. Thanks so much for posting.
Beautifully done and very helpful. My husband and I have done similar trips with great success. The video is succinct and so easy to watch. We are planning out next adventure!
Excellent video, well made and in great detail, now I want to take a trip there, thank you!
Great Video... Much love from Ireland 💚
Great video! Very Helpful thank you for taking the time to make this video!
Thanks; your video answered some questions that I had about traveling to Ireland!
wonderfully detailed and helpful!
If you go to Europe again check into renting a RV we did our 1st time and had a BLAST. Going again in 2020 for 70 days
Awesome video, dude. Very informative.
So beautiful thanks for sharing
Great information!! Y'all did so good on that budget for 3 weeks !! ❤
Wow!! $1,700 for 3 weeks including airfare, land fare, food, and car rental?!! You guys are truly amazing! I’m going to EDI in June and it’s $1,100 for the airfare alone! No choice in dates as it is for a wedding! Take care y’all!
Excellent video! How informative. I must share this.
Cool vid Mike and Elly.
EXCELLENT!!!!!! Yes, inspiring and yes helpful. Thank you so much!
Rented a VW up car in our first year(2014) it was way too small and over heated. plus if you don’t drink beer you will save substantial amounts.
Don't waste money on a sim with data, download HERE WE GO app and the local maps you need. Turn by turn guidance with no cost, no data, etc. You just need to use Location/GPS so bring a charger to keep your phone charged whilst using it.
Thanks for all the great tips. Love seeing you on the trip.
Thank you so much for sharing!! Now I want to go to Ireland!!
You should!
Loved this video, great job!!
Very informative video.
This is a great review. Thank you!
Very well done video w/ a pro voice over!
I think y'all need to be travel guides, let me know when you start booking.
Your video is so informative. My husband and I are going to Ireland next March and April. You should do more travel videos.
They just got back from 7 weeks in England, Scotland, Ireland, and Norway. If you search any of these in the channel all the videos will come up. ~ Heidi
Mike, you did an awesome job on this Video
Thank you! Wonderful information!
Mike this informative video was brilliant, you have missed your calling..........becoming a travel agent or even a voice over for documentaries!!
Did you show it to your kids and tell them you're famous! LOL :-)
Wonderful video! So inspirational and helpful.
Thank You for sharing....we want to take 2 of our teenage grandchildren to the UK next march (2020) so we are trying to gather all the helpful information. Our trip will be much faster than yours as we only have about 2 weeks. We are going to fly into Edinburgh, then we want to visit London, Dublin then back to Edinburgh. We are trying to find as many ways to enjoy our time and watch the budget. One nice thing Is there are free things to do in every city . I will definetly try the Airbnb as we will be sleeping over in each city and want to find something not too expensive.I will be checking out your other videos..Thanks again!
It would be handy to know that Ireland is not part of the U.K.. So first tip , know where you're going 😂😂😂😂
This is really great info. I was looking into Air BandB and was trying to centralize my family and I for the most part near trains so we can avoid driving (OMG I just know I will drive on the wrong side!).
AWESOME! I hope we can go there some time dad! :D
I commented a good word for you Dave ;) You will have so many trips and memories young man. Give it time.
Amazing video and info. Thanks a lot for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed Ireland hopefully the country will recover in a few years. Bonus is it's going to become a budget destination
❤️ SO GOOD!!! Excellent!
Excellent. Thank you.

Can't wait ☘️
Love from my heart for your cute trip and special Love to Ireland from Pakistan
Excellent video.
thank you so helpful
Very well done.
Great Video Lads and Lassies.
SO helpful thank you!
You might have mentioned it, but I missed it. How much was the car rental per day?
Great video, thank you.
**psst** (Scotland IS the UK...)
Love it!!!
One tip you didn't mention is that if you're visiting multiple historical sites owned by the Irish state you can buy a card giving you entry to all for a potentially lower price www.heritageireland.ie/en/info/heritagecards/
Thank you!
Thanks for posting this video - WELL DONE !!! I’d be curious to know how much more the cost would be in 2022 with the adjustments for Biden-Flation worked in to the equation
Thank you! Good information! Your Christmas video said it was blocked in our country! Because of umg? Copyright or something!
Yes we decided to try one more time but even though we followed all the rules UMG keeps changing them. :-(
Living On A Dime that stinks! Oh well! On the Ireland video I was really glad to be able to see their trip! Sometimes I felt like I was there with them! 😆😎
Living On A Dime I just had a thought! Maybe if you changed it to holiday music instead of Christmas! Which would stink but it might work!
It's not the titles but the songs we used.
Living On A Dime that stinks!
Nice Video!
Sir Great Video!!
Very nice video....
