    🔳 Electrostatic air filters are basically washable filters that, in theory, don’t need to be replaced. The idea behind these products is that instead of replacing the electrostatic air filter regularly like you would with a conventional one, you simply need to take them out and wash them using a hose once every month.

    So the #1 filter con is that it doesn't trap dust so good, then you go on about how good it is at trapping dust.

      Lol! I came to the comments just to see if anyone else caught that or if I just wasn’t smart enough to understand the super scientific technical contradicting language. Happy to see there are still people able to think and analyze what is being told to them instead of mindlessly absorbing the information.

    I am not understanding what you are getting at. You say first, that the 6 stage is NOT good at getting dust in the con's, but then state that the 6 stage is great at getting the dust. Which is it?

    Ive had one for 20 years.. Seems to work well. Just spray with degreaser and hose it down with pressure.

    i have the "lifetime" filter shown in many electrostatic youtube videos. having owned it for 15 years, yes, i can say it does last and u can clean it w/ water pressure. the trouble is lint/fine hair/etc gets caught up in the fabric of the filter (yet behind its outer mesh) that after a while, it starts to impact the ability for the air to move thru it. i've spent a lot of time trying to slowly claw it out but it's a struggle. i wish instead of riveting the outer frame back on itself, they would've used a screw so the outer mesh could be removed w/ each cleaning, allowing a much more thorough and quick process. if any of u have modified the filter so this can be done or found another workaround, plz share.

    • @DB-xp9px
      @DB-xp9px Рік тому

      @@cliffcox7643 i do use my pressure washer on it but it doesn't get all the hair/lint/etc out of the fabric. so far always forced to do a lot of manual "prying/plucking" of it thru the metal mesh. if only they would've designed this a little differently!

    Hi, can we use electrostatic air filter instead of the regular/Disposal ones in furnace? Thanks

  • @dgriffin6074
    @dgriffin6074 9 місяців тому

    Regarding drain holes. Would it be OK to drill, say 1/8", holes in the frame on one side in order to quickly drain water? Also, wouldn't placing the filter in front of a box fan help it dry out?

    How would you have as number 1 a filter that doesn't trap dust?

  • @Z-Ack
    @Z-Ack 2 роки тому

    So since one doesn’t trap dust too well, why not make room to install 2 back to back and just wash them every month to ensure proper airflow? Ive bought a few different types, none had air holes for drying or whatever.. all but one however all fell apart on me and had to be tossed.. wish i knew the name of it but is probably the one that was said to whistle.. i just put some of that sticky back rubber foam weatherseal and worked fine.. have noticed that it doesnt collect dust perfectly as the brand new blower alredy is caked with whiteness..

    I wonder if you wash this filter, will it build mold?

    I checked the link for the full review and it does not give any more of a reason for why the 6 stage was reviewed number 1 then your video.
    I am not sure why you did not rate the Trophy Air as the best with a possible fitting problem. I am concern about the accuracy of all your reviews now. :(

    Even though you're a public expert and I'm just a wannabe engineer past his prime -- I think you're confused on a couple of points. Electrostatic has minimal effect on odor - or smoke. Use a pre-filter carbon sheet for odor. Use a merv 12 or better rating for smoke. You can also get a combo-permanent filter, a combo carbon filter, or stack your own. The best quality does not produce the best airflow. You might think about a two-system approach using a high-efficiency / low airflow filter without restricting your HVAC. There are other / different / many approaches as well if you're a creative wannabe engineer.

      You are 100%. Be careful with reviews that don't discuss air flows. Thank you. I just learned that in a superior review before this one.

    Ok well I will put a couple points out there....being an HVAC tech in the past and hobbying trying to get knowledgeable on static air pressure.
    1 inch of depth! A Merv 4 to 8 rating is ideal for the best airflow anything above that is providing better filtration but also causing an airflow restriction. Think of the old saying trying to shove 10lbs of crap in a 5lb. Bag.
    Standard filters do not have drain holes....that is a spot for air to get around the filter.
    These are strong and expensive but can save you money over time lol they can be a great option I bought a Merv 8 one off Amazon. Don't go any higher unless it's a thicker filter 😁
