    I feel so fortunate to have watched this journey. His success is proof that he had a very talented trainer! The fact that you didn't push him too hard but let him grow into jumping says so much about your training ability. Congratulations, Holly. Merry Christmas to you and your family🎄🎀❤

    I definitley agree that some young horses need time to show their talent, my Mare only really started to look and jump well at the end of last year (when she was 6) and during this year! It's soooo worth giving them time to mature 😊

      So true! I had a rescue mare that I didn’t start until she was almost 5 because she was neglected before I got her. It took a long time to earn her trust, but once I got it she was an absolute dream!

      She’s just like any other horse to him. Horses don’t really remember their dam or foals once they’re weaned, even if he wasn’t rejected it would be the same ☺️

    • @vwyldrose1153
      @vwyldrose1153 4 роки тому +30

      @@HollyLenahanSJ that's actually not true. You can find mares in regular herds that will have 3 or 4 of her babies with her. They do remember. Esp if the mare and foal are kept on the same farm
      Altho a rejection prob doesn't.

    when I was in ridingschool there was this horse named Lukas, he mainly walked on the beginner lessons because he wasn so calm. But I loved riding him so I often picked him for both dressage and jumping. Sure, I had to work a lot harder since he was dulled from the beginner lessons but once you got him to wake up it was awesom, he gave 210% once he realiced he got to work properly. Now, the best things was when we got to 50cm+ jumps, he loved that :D Certain horses just seems to like the challanges :D

    You honestly should be so proud of yourself! He's turned into a really fantastic horse. I love how he wasn't impressive in the beginning, even though he had an amazing mind. I feel like people get so caught up in how they free jump and over jump when they are young that they forget that a good horse is still in there and just needs time to develop. He honestly looks like a completely different horse in that last 1.20 round. Not many people can say they've bred, broke, and ridden their own horse up the heights. Can't wait to see where you guys go after this!!

  • @EquiiAlly

    I LOVE HIM! Young horses are so rewarding! I actually prefer it when they don't flash as much. You can see after his first longer break (think it was when he came in, in june this year) he had matured so much. He has come so far are you should be so proud. Taking it all so slowly will pay off in the future xx

    I haven't been able to watch any of your videos for ages as I've just not had time, but it's so lovely to see him looking so strong and mature both mentally and physically in the final clips of this. One thing that's obvious about him from the video is that he's always been a horse with an incredible rhythm and balance on the flat and over fences, which can be a difficult thing to find in young horses. I've often found that the more balanced a baby is, the less it over-jumps under saddle, as they find it easier to absorb the fence into the natural rhythm of their canter stride and are thus more confident and relaxed about the entire affair. Unbalanced babies either wobble over everything or put in a massive ping to clear it. Not true in all cases of course, but certainly a decent number.
    Plus he'll probably last and stay sound for longer as he's not expending unnecessary energy or putting undue strain on his body. All in all he looks utterly incredible right now and he's a real credit to the work that you've done with him. Definitely an exciting future ahead!

    You have done a brilliant job producing Khal in a very correct way.
    If you check the record books. There are very few winners of the Loose Jumping competitions or the Young Horse Championships that actually go on to the very top.
    By giving Khal the time to mature and learn self balance and self carrige you have let him develop his jump.
    Just out of of curiosity have you ever schooled xcountry or ridden a dressage test on him.?
