You have a pretty solid list that is respectable and some of those you picked would even make it to my list. Much better than I initially thought. I first thought that half of the bands you would pick would be newer Thrash bands that are just carbon copies of previous thrash bands and aren't even half as good as their predecessors. Some of the picks like Helloween and Running Wild however I wouldn't even consider Thrash Metal as to me they have more in common with Traditional Heavy Metal bands like Mercyful Fate and Judas Priest than they do with Overkill or Destruction although you did say that it's also a top 15 Speed Metal list as well and your not separating the two so its somewhat understandable given that context. I feel obligated now to give my top 15 Thrash Metal list. Here it is in no particular order:
    1. Vio-Lence: Eternal Nightmare
    2. Kreator: Pleasure to Kill
    3. Forbidden: Forbidden Evil
    4. Pestilence: Mallevs Maleficarvm
    5. Overkill: The Years of Decay
    6. Onslaught: Metal Forces
    7. Slaughter: Strappado
    8. Destruction: Internal Overkill
    9. Sodom: Tapping the Vein
    10. Tankard: The Morning After
    11. Death Angel: The Ultra Violence
    12. Exhorder: Slaughter In the Vatican
    13. Demolition Hammer: Tortured Existence
    14. Toxik: World Circus
    15. Nuclear Assault: Game Over

retro thrash was awesome 15 years ago.I would add, Bonded By Bloods Feed the beast album and Lich Kings World Gone dead. Suicidal Angels have too clean production for its own sake but the first album is a masterpiece. there is no similar thrash album to that particular one. pure evil and I am sure J Dawg would like it . Probably the band with best riffs in whole thrash genre. Dead Again is also perfect from start to finish but I prefer Nicks older style of vocals and more atmospheric production on debut. Also , their compilation of demos Bloodthirsty Humanity crushes so hard. I would pay some more money for that CD.

    • @nizz0matic307
      @nizz0matic307 Рік тому +3

speed metal was barely even a genre, there was a brief time when bands played heavy metal faster than normal, but thrash metal came along so fast in the early 80s it may as well have come out directly after traditional metal, and it became the dominant style replacing traditional (ignoring glam metal). the actual amount of bands and albums you can say is just "speed metal" is so small you may as well wipe out the genre and lump it all into thrash or traditional, it's just not large enough to matter.
not to mention "speed metal" was just a catch all term in the actual 80s for anything fast. bands and fans/magazines used to call stuff we call thrash or black metal today "speed metal", the genre terms were not as defined as they are now, no one cared that much and the genres weren't formed enough and defined enough to matter. in fact i've even seen old dudes who grew up in that era who aren't really schooled on modern genre definitions just call everything fast from then speed metal. hardcore genre elitists have defined speed/thrash as separate from pure thrash, and really if you're that anal about it, there IS a difference, but it's also redundant, cause there is way more speed/thrash than there is just pure speed metal, if speed metal barely existed at all why bother having a "mixed" genre like that. death/thrash makes sense, death metal is a hugely defined genre, and so is thrash, if a band mixes those styles it's worth mentioning. but speed/thrash? idk just call it thrash who cares.
long rant about nothing but ultimately imo speed metal is a useless genre definition.
