Impressive! What % grade is the helix at, and how many layers are there (just as a matter of interest, rather than related to the performance of the ST locomotive)?
The helix is 1.9%, and it’s 2 helixes one wrapped around another, the helix you watched the train go up is 4 levels, the helix on the inside is 8 levels and goes from the bottom level to the very top. 😁
The ditch lights in these recent run ES44s are very acceptable especially in comparison to the first three runs of ET44s. Those early units had the ditch lights illuminated via LEDs on the chassis feeding light pipes into the housing; this has since then been fixed with the 2020+ ET44s, to my knowledge none of the D9s and ES44s have this issue
In comparison to the first run of tier4s, I absolutely agree, but these are not up to my standards for the price we pay up here in Canada, it’s just a lack of quality control. But that’s my opinion, cheers
Nice review don’t own any yet but want a few of them some day. Nice review on the scaletrain CN 44. Great test and video till the next one keep it on the tracksss 😎🚂🫵
I plan to review these in a few days, do you know how much these pull in terms of grams(1=15 cars)? If not that’s okay these units are very nice I picked up 2
@@EverythingTrainsMedia the NMRA has a standard to what a car should weigh, I can’t remember exactly what it is, but if you search it it’s all over the internet, I count those a fully loaded car weighing in at 130 tons, and then I run the train up our one helix at a 2% grade. HPT is horsepower to ton ratio Every section of mainline has a ruling grade and a rating of what the HPT is to get the train over the road, so that’s why in use actual cars instead of the pull test. Cheers
The model in the video was bought from railway city hobbies, the model in the picture was also bought at railway city hobbies, but it was weathered by me. I hope that answers your question. Cheers
@@canadianlocomotivelogistics maybe down the road sometime, we are still very busy with the CTC installs, but we plan on having an open house sometime in the spring, I’ll post a video and keep everyone updated!
Love this actual pull test! Now you guys have a benchmark when testing other engines with the same set of cars.
Cheers,

Thanks earl!!! And yes sir!! Always be the blue potash cars!
Adam will never bring them back home!!!, not like we need them.. LOL😯🤭🤭@@SilverCreekSub

BTW, GORGEOUS weathering on the engine...
Oh thank you, I did that one last year

I got the ho cn scaletrains locomotive and it's a beast
Ya man!! They are my favourite 6 axel!! Just awesome!
So I’ve got the same unit, did you notice that the on board camera on yours is missing too? I’ve wonder if this is prototypically correct.
I didn’t notice that, but I guarantee that they have cameras now, I don’t think they were delivered with them

I’m sure what they pull in grams to be honest, I work for CN so I go by scale tonnage to HP ratio so I can power my trains to prototype 😁
@@SilverCreekSubhow do you measure what each car weighs, Id love to add that feature to my stuff, also What is the HP/T ratio, 1HP=?

I have weathered a pile of them, but sadly I don’t actually own one, but if we ever do we can do a review
