    In this video, Larry Trocha is training a horse to slow down at the lope. This method he demonstrates (reverse arc with shoulder control) works well for reining horses and reined cow horses as well as trail horses.
    The above video is a short, edited clip taken from my online training course titled, “Lope Slow with Complete Control”:

    I have been watching your videos for many years and they have helped me a lot with my training and instruction. I bought almost every one of your tapes back in the early days. Thank you for helping me in my career. You are one of the very best at explaining how to do things with our horses. I probably would not have been as successful without your help.

    Hey Larry! What sort of reins do you have there? It looks like a martingale or some sort of draw rein?

      Both hands in the direction you want to go, along with outside leg pressure at the rib cage.

    whats the thing you are using with the reins does it keep the head down?

    • @ltrocha
      @ltrocha  2 роки тому +1

      It's called a German Martingale. No, it doesn't keep the horse's head down. It's a simple tool that when used correctly, helps a horse learn to "give" to the rider's hands. Definitely not necessary but sometimes nice to have.

    What is a good bit to train your horse

    • @ltrocha
      @ltrocha  2 роки тому +2

      Hi Leanne, the bit depends on the horse's level of training. The most common training bit is the loose-ring snaffle... which is the bit shown in this video.

      @@leanneobrien4235 Once he's well-trained in the snaffle, go to a low-port curb bit. Watch my video on Bridling a Horse Correctly: ua-cam.com/video/VzwTUH16SpI/v-deo.html

    What about your foot 🦶 work in all this???

    • @ltrocha
      @ltrocha  2 роки тому +1

      You use the reins and leg pressure in time with the horse's response... or in time the horse's steps.
