My dad bought one of these back in '92 and so did his friend. The video and sound quality was amazing for virtually the entire time we had it. I have fond memories of watching TV shows, VHS tapes, and later DVDs on a Trinitron between 1997 and 2004.
I have a 65" 4K Sony OLED at home and yet this commercial makes me want this old CRT. There is something nostalgic, but also amazing and futuristic about the whole look and prospect. We could've only dreamed about a TV of this size in the 90s. Just imagine watching Jurassic Park or the Independence Day on this bad boy. You would've been the king of the neighbourhood.
XBR2 has mind-blowing picture quality, I used to go about once a week to Bay And Bloor Video store in Toronto, just to see this tv. It cost about 3-4 times of a normal tv set, I was student and could only dream of owning it.
Maybe for pussies. My grandfather repaired TVs and was able to lift them by himself. Take those LEDs and throw them in the trash where they belong. Laggy pieces of shit.
Sonys technology back in the early 1990s was spectacular. The sound quality on these XBRs rocked. Now adays, the picture is great, but the audio sounds like on a cheap tv you would buy at Walmart. Same for Sony audio, it seems Sony only was the king of the road with audio and video during the early to mid 1990s. After that its all history.

You still have the TV?
I like how the family ignored the real Grand Canyon and instead stares at the Grand Canyon in the TV xD
Yeah, thats the idea...

Watching this on my Sony 4K.
Sony Bravia 4K Ultra HD 2021 or maybe 8K Ultra HD.
I had XBR Squared 32" in 90s weighed a ton , killed me moving up stairs when I moved in 1999.
Tell me about it. had to move it up stairs and today I moved it downstairs , still using one exclusively for old consoles and a vcr
NEVER trash, recycle or scrap a CRT. They are treasures. RGB mod them and you've got a whole new revival for the retro market.
🤔🤔🤔🤔 I never thought about that
Good PSA!
Plus, European CRT models don't need RGB modding because most of them accept true RGB via SCART connector.

well now the 4K sets from Sony are much better than that old but still awesome Sony CRT set
@@sj7624 People still want these, for watching Laserdiscs, VHS', and playing pre-2006 video games.

2020: Hey look a 86 inch flat screen tv! 😂
I gotta get me one of those!
CRT TV 32 inch needs four people to lift it, LED TV 32 inch only takes one hand to throw it..
