*Note:* The latest version of the ZRAM may have been fixed?!? I fairly reviewed it and interacted with the creator, and have given my opinion of how mine performed at the time of purchase (approx 3 years ago). Both of these cards were sold on - described how they performed in this video. ie. They were sold to the new owners acknowledging that both worked fine with 68K CPU, and may or may not work properly with other CPU cards (they didn't for me, and I made that clear). Off camera I did a LOT of additional testing, and tested against a few other Zorro devices, as well as testing Kickstart 3.1 and 1.3 on the rev 4, rev 6.2 and rev 6.2+. Since looking at these RAM cards, I've had no issues with dozens of other Zorro cards, including other RAM cards (across all 3 Amiga 2000 boards).
*Also note:* I suspect AmigaStore.eu would have offered me a refund, had I complained to them - I prefered to just sell the card on after reviewing it.
When building my maxed out A2000 systems, I had found that only certain cards would work together AND only in certain motherboard revisions AND only in certain slots, one of the reasons I avoided like the plague, and subsequently dumped, all GVP brand products due to their incompatibility with certain combinations of expansion cards.
Those seamless edit will always amaze me! 😛
Love your videos. I was an Amiga 1000 guy and only ever installed two extra mem expansion boards (one on the front panel, and one A2000 card via a Toolbox expansion unit), but it's always interesting to learn the details of these other boards for later Amigas. Keep making cool content!
Thanks =D
That was very interesting. Cheers.
any way of j tagging the firmwere off the irixlabs board ? .
No, it was protected! I offered to help regards flashing with an update, but the creator wanted to keep it closed source =/ Makes more sense to just use LIV2 ZII 8MB GTGF now!
