Nice job Eddie!!! Looks good.
Thanks Dylan! Customers are happy...I'm happy! Appreciate the views... ~Eddie
Excellent 2 part series 👏
I'll be checking out your website very soon.
This series is a UA-cam gem. Not just for basement reno. And you have a red dobe! haha
Thanks brother! Yep...Red Dobe Gus!
Having those windows with the deep returns, really looks nice. You and your crew do really good work.
You really have done an awesome job of explaining the process of basement finishing. Thank you!
Turned out nice.
Thanks Garry!
Yo Eddie I'm impressed, rough carpentry, electrical, plumbing and insulation inspection all done on the same day Friday WOW!!!
Yeah …you ought to try it sometime…
Piece of cake!@@BasementFinishingMan
Just for the record...This project was in a township that does not require building permits for basement remodeling projects. This definitely allows us to speed-up the project completion time, having no inspections to deal with.
Yeah I was wondering how that went down, it's nice not to have the municipalities in the way.
nice work guys looks amazing....
Amazing tips. Thank you.
Great Job. Can’t wait for more vids.
Thanks Thomas! Working on new videos soon to be uploaded...
since I came across your videos a few days, I'm HOOK on watching your videos, , been learning a lot about how to do my basement when i get my house built this summer. going to be a winter project.not planning on to do a drywall ceiling maybe just spray it black. Keep up filming those videos

Thanks for all your time and work you put in to get these videos made. I just found you and already subscribed. Gonna look into your other links especially the university link. I don't even own a home but your videos are really thorough. You combine all the trades to help get the big picture and avoid wasting time, material, and money! I know your videos will certainly help me and I will be recommending them to friends and family who are planning on finishing their basements.
Thank You, I appreciate you watching the videos and for the Like & positive comments! Good luck with all of your diy projects. ~Eddie
This guy is the best !!
Thanks for watching! ~Eddie
Great video! I'm curious as to why you didn't tie the utility sink drain to the main sewage ejector. Thanks!
Hi Eddie, great work! What did you do with the previous electric runs to the original lights? I know you can’t just take those lights out, put the wire in a junction box and drywall over them.
Hey Jeremy thanks! We eliminated them after we debugged them. ~Eddie
Eddie
Thanks for explaining all the steps thoroughly, Do you do any work in NJ or have someone you recommend,
Thanks
You're welcome! I do not know anyone personally that works in NJ. You could try Finished Basements NJ. They look like they do nice work, so I've seen on their UA-cam channel.
Was insulation added in front of the builders insulation wrap? I also noticed the bottom part wasn't wrapped, so i'm curious how the insulation was completed.
🎉
How much is the cost for set all the electrical for this basement? I mean referring real cost
Hi Eddie- Great videos. Question- what CAD (design program) do you use? Thanks.
Home Designer Pro.
Nicely done. I agree the flooring and the wall color looks great together. The homeowner must be thrilled that you were able to give them such a nice basement in such a short period of time.
One thought that might be nice if you are willing to share is what something like this would cost? Perhaps just round numbers such as around $10,000 in materials and $30,000 in labor. If I do it myself I could possibly save most of the labor or just pay for things I can’t do such as drywall? I know you talked a little about that in BFU - just wonder what the numbers are like these days. Obviously I don’t want you to disclose anything that you would consider personal or proprietary.
Thanks Tim! This was a $ 45,000.00 basement give or take a few thousand. You would save a pretty sweet percentage of this 45K if you did the work yourself ; - ) ~Eddie
Thank you for the quick reply Eddie. Very helpful. Hey, my guess of $10,000 in material and $30,000 in labor wasn’t too far out of the ballpark. I used to live not far from you in Mechanicsburg, but now live in a suburb of Pittsburgh. If I still lived out your way I would hire you in an instant. You do very professional work.
Everything looks great, why green paint 😅
Hi Eddie, what do you think of using the utility room for storage as well?, is it too risky? my layout may look better but would like to know you opinion. Thank you!!!
@BLUEKNIFE, I don’t know if you’ve acquired Eddie’s BFU program that he has, but he answers that question in that series.
He does it all the time and has no concerns with doing it. I’m also in the process of finishing my basement DIY and have storage in my utility area.
If you’ve got the space for it, do it!!
I guess you never get the opportunity to go back to a basement you finished from 10 or 20 years ago to see what the home owners did with it and/or how it is still holding up.
Did you vent the bathroom fan outside? I didn't see the work in the other video.
Yes. We vented outside through the unfinished storage room that borders the Bathroom. I do show this vent line in the part 1. ~Eddie
Was that primed pine board for the window casings?
Yes it is John. ~Eddie
Great job. What is the spacing of those recessed lights?
If you're talking about how they were installing them in the pre existing drywall ceiling, they had to cut the holes out to fit the back of the cans up in between the floor joists. Otherwise the lights will be sticking out of the ceiling instead of being perfectly flush to the new drywall ceiling
Dylan Garrett - Thanks but I am just looking for optimal spacing between lights for best coverage. The actual installation I'm good with.
Hey Eddie, where do you get your doors? I'm just south of you in Lancaster

@@BasementFinishingMan Thank you!
@@tannerhengst1 Your welcome brother!
It didn’t look like a subfloor with moisture barrier was put down and the LVP was placed directly on the basement concrete floor. Could you please explain that? I thought that was a no-no in case an issue with water arose in the future.
Nothing to explain really, this product is designed to go directly over a concrete flooring with no repercussions whatsoever. No need for all of these subfloors and vapor barriers that so many others bark about. There is such a thing as "over-kill".
Been a basement finishing specialist for 30+ years and have never used any of these over-rated products you speak-of...they are just not needed in my company's opinion. We work in million dollar+ homes on down the line, on a regular basis, and all of our clients love this flooring and the way we install it is correct.
@@BasementFinishingMan great to know. Thanks! I’m in northern ky so climate is similar to where you work so if you haven’t had any complaints, good enough for me. My home is only 18 months old so I am not expecting any water issues anytime soon. I will now cut these items from my budget.
My only question is: how do you deal with permits and inspections? I'm about to start my basement and the county is taking forever to give me my permit.
Usually order the permits about 2 weeks before the project begins if homeowners want permits, as ultimately it is the homeowners decision to make. A lot of homeowners just do not want permits, so they are not part of the project. Many cities in our area do not require a building permit for a basement finishing project unless there will be structural work being done (egress entrances being installed, removal of support columns, etc.). ~Eddie
@@BasementFinishingMan oh man. That makes me jealous. We have to have permits for everything in Georgia. Great vids though. Thanks!
All the LVP I'm seeing says you have to lay 6mil plastic under the flooring as a moisture barrier. Have you found that isn't really necessary?
Not needed…waste of time. Floating synthetic plank flooring do not need a vapor barrier installed under them…-Eddie
Is BFU still going?
Yes it is Steve...since 2010 now...
Hey, what is the round hole under stairs @43:07
It's a cat door to a litter box. ~Eddie
@@BasementFinishingMan cool..thanks..
how big is the basement
1200 sq. ft. total...we finished approx. 900 sq. ft. of this total space. ~Eddie
