12 months of money to pay bills. Don't waste time in meeting with people with no excess income for recommendations. Find who values what you offer. Find a niche Build a team and have then bring in business.
I'm 23 years old, switched majors from cyber security to IT, then finally landed on finance. I am worried that my ADHD and anxiety will hold me back in this career path. Do you know of any success stories from people who have struggled with mental illnesses in this industry?
There's many people who work in the industry that have mental illness yet we'd NEVER know it. Also ADHD; as this could work in your favor. The question is (whether it be in this industry, pursuing your dreams or anything else): WHAT DO YOU ALIGN WITH? What do you identify with? If you look at ADHD (and mental illness) as a pitfall then you will align yourself with circumstances that support this. If you see the 'silver lining' in these things that you live with--they could very much work in your favor. I live with both mental health issues, blood cancer and a survivor of child abuse and domestic violence... And I've also learned to make all of these things WORK IN MY FAVOR. Go after your dreams. Do things that scare you. And use all of your supposed pitfalls to get you there!
Oh I'm a fellow ADHD'er who is pivoting into financial advising (from fundraising and planned giving.) We are very interest-based an entrepreneurial, but can also burn out quickly. You'll have to do a self-audit, but truly ADHD can be your superpower! We're also naturally resilient. Good luck!
