Can you change which MIDI note each of the 4 pads will trigger? And is it easy to play it with the hands? I need some sort of MIDI hand percussion to trigger sample libraries in my DAW.
I've got a sample pad and you can assign each pad and the kick a separate midi note. So plug it into my Roland Sound module I can reproduce 4 kettle drums for under £200. I think the Percpad is the same, otherwise why have a Midi connection. I notice no one seems to of explored the Midi potential on youtube. May be I should Good thing is the Midi note does not have to in any way represent the sample or sound emitted by the pad itself. So by deft control of the volume knobs you can turn the 8 kits into 16.
it's possible to use with hands, but seems to work a lot better with sticks - the sensitivity can be adjusted, but in my opinion it doesn't work well with hands alone
Hello, im looking for similar products, but ones which i can midi link to ableton so i can control the drum racks in ableton and queue samples and one shots. Could you tell me the midi capability of this machine or give me some advice on other products out there. My budget isnt too large, nothing over £250 pounds. Thank you
in every video they say you can use drum brain with percpad using midi cable ..i have mine attached with midi cable and still cant get it to use sounds from drun brain??
hi ive just bought the alesis sample pad can you attach an effects pedal to it for assigning effects to individual pads on the sample pad ? just thought you might know thanks
Turn off the reverb on each pad, pan one group of pads all the way to the left, pan the other group of pads all the way to the right. This will set the SamplePad to dual mono mode.
You have demonstrated some tricky dicky little rhythms but, to what extent could this be a substitute for conventional drum kit . . . kick. . . snare . . . etc?
would rather use it as an effect or sound bank beside my normal digital or "classic" drumkit. Using it either as an line in instrument or as an AUX loop effect. for example, 50 dollars pad is cheaper than 4 congas, 4 cowbells, 4 gong-cymbals, or 4 octobans :)
Hey dude, you looked at the Ableton Launchpad? those thinks are awesome for controlling everything in Ableton. If not, check out the Madeon 'Pop Culture' video which uses it. Not sure How much it is but I think it might be around the £150 mark. Hope that helps!
How do you save a setting/tuning. When I switch from a block sound that I've tuned and switch to a snare sound on the same pad and I return to the block, it returns to the factory tuning rather than what I had tuned it to.
Use the midi out to trigger sample playback on a pc, for example. Sorry I can't be more specific, I'm out date, but I'm sure it can be done. No idea what max sample length is on the alesis samplepad, but I'd be surprised if it's as long as you want. Either of these babies will give you a midi out for triggering another device.
There's a tune function so you can change the pitch of any of the internal or sounds loaded via sd card. Unfortunately they have to be single "hits" or the tempo will change too. There is no time stretching for longer samples.Sample pad responds to sticks better than hands.Pretty useless for a hand drummer or CONGA not congo player. :o). Has 25 basic sounds including drum kits.Good value for the price but nothing special compared to the Roland or Yamaha.
hi Riera Music... I bought a percpad and have a big problem, when I want to connect it to my computer and us it as a MIDI controle, my computer does not admmit it as a MII object, (I want to use the percpad with ableton live 9)... do you know what should I do??...thanks a lot
The sample pad is a tacky piece of shit, don’t be fooled by the price tag. you can’t hit two pads at once without one sample cutting out the other. No idea why, as if you flam them slightly they’re fine and both play back as normal. Just seems like lazy programming. save up a bit more for the sample pad pro or one of the Roland ones, tonnes better
I smacked this once with a marching drumstick and I cracked the top and it broke into bits. OK, so I hit it a bit wildly and very hard, but wtf. Piece of shit - get a Roland. Luckily it was free. HAHA!
Would this be good for a pipe band drummer to practice on with headphones? Or is there something more suited to that kind of drumming?

Can I use two of those connected to the same computer as midi? I say to have one on each side in my drum kit
How much price sir
Thanks OP - any opinions out there on using this with hands in addition to sticks? TIA

can u put loops in it and trigger it with pedals?
Hey, yeah i have a launchpad but im looking for something similar you can hit with sticks.

Thank you. good job.
Would you be able to use a keyboard sustain pedal as the kick drum trigger?
good question did you ever find out?
Yes, that works.

which kick pedal or kick pad works with this alesis model?
Can you recommend a stand and a kick trigger to go with it ?
Kick trigger compatibility is a nightmare for these units.
Can we loop wat we play?
Did u find out?
can you record it on audacity? / R
Se le puede enchufar auriculares?
MALKOVICH! MALKOVICH MALKOVICH!! MALKOVICH MALKOVICH MALKOVICH!!!

Have loop?
Can you set each pad to the same sound and change the pitch of each one separately? Like if I wanted to set it up as a set of congos?
Yes, you can.
Where can I get that stand from?
+OfficialJaredPayne standard snare stand
Judging by the basket, and the slightly offset arms, that's a Tama Pro snare stand.
Does anyone know if you can connect this to an SR18 and play along with a pre-programmed beat.

i need this to play little 30 second tracks when i hit it someone help

I know that question can appear a bit silly but with what do I hook this up ?
+Paul Forsans a computer, or external midi synth/sampler.
Oh, a compact leaflet.
Superb 🤠🎼🎸🎈🎈🎈🎉
I went in the store to ask for a soumple pad but they say it doesn't exist....:(. Haha
Great review. ignore all the childishness from the 'I can play a 4/4' wanker brigade.
Wow its nice pad
fuckin ian croft mate if i want revew ill go for fuckin nick bat
!
pretty basic bt ok
he uses dental floss for his ears
This product sucks
***** Have you played it? If so, what was wrong with it? (Considering buying one but wanna hear different sides if its good or not.)
I have it. To be completely honest it wasn't what i was looking for. The sounds built in are pretty pointless for my use.
+Oda Her I plan to get one to control some crazy kontakt library, because I'm bored to write in the piano roll or use keyboard keys. :P
Yeah, there's the bigger one but I'm on a tight budget and restricted space so ^^`

Alesis support acknowledges the issue and says it's due
to something called "crosstalk rejection".
Why does such a versatile instrument come with such a useless manual?
it's so simple that a manual is not necessary. you hit a pad, and change the simple settings for the pad. nothing else.

Terrible review. Nobodys gonna use this to make little dings and claps.
That's exactly what people use it for, to expand their acoustic kit
booooooorrriiiing
