I've got the Hennessy XO Grande Champagne 50th anniversary bought by my parents at HKDNP in early December 1997 so it must have been an early introduction in time for the official 50th in 1998. It came in a regular Hennessy XO box marked HKDNP not like your official 50th anniversary box.

I heard that Hennessy XO has been reinvented so many times and due to its popularity they are forced to push their product out of the door as fast as possible. This result them putting additives to make up for the taste and connoisseurs are now looking for older bottles from the 90s and earlier for authentic taste.
Cognac doesn’t age, it retains the age when you open it and then once you open it will need to drink it within 6 months. So if it’s sealed it will be the same age as when it was bottled.
