Very nice looking table and well done on the legs. Totally agree with you on no need for domino/biscuit/dowels in a table top for strength, just doesn't add any.
I'm an aspiring woodworker just gathering as much information as I can before I take the plunge and get start. I've got to say some of the things you come up with like using the table as its own router template is pretty dang genius
Just found your channel yesterday and have watched at least a dozen videos. Love the content, the explanation, and how you don't skip explaining steps. Keep up the good work. Because the work is amazing!
You might be my new favorite wood working youtuber. You’re a pro, but you teach us newer guys without talking over our level. Plus you’re pretty funny. I just built my wife a round base for her “fitness pole” so I could mount it in our carpeted bedroom. So for that, I say thank you. For real.... thanks. It’s out of our living room and now I have a stripper pole.... I mean... fitness pole... in my bedroom. So that’s pretty cool
Sorry to be so off topic but does anybody know a way to get back into an Instagram account? I stupidly lost my login password. I would appreciate any assistance you can give me.
Dude...you are just a good guy doing good things! Keep up the great videos. It is nice to see a normal guy that is succeeding without all the commercial sponsorship. Although I'm sure Rubio owes you some love by now!!!! Big thumbs up brother!
Love your videos. Can you do one on jointers and planers? Always interested to see how different woodworkers deal with snipe when milling lumber for a project. Especially someone who has used both the lunchbox style and professional planers.
I really have learned a lot watching your videos. Very informative and also entertaining! I’ve just started out, made my first work bench. I’m looking forward to making more “stuff” with wood. Thank you very much!
Beautiful table man, and simple design. Also thanks for trolling us about the domino. I'd use the crap out of that thing if I had one haha. I'm mostly just jealous of your milling tools/setup. Starting with flat, straight boards is the most important step!
dang....well done! I've been looking for a round table top tutorial for so long. You might be the only one...the only one worth watching anyway...so many good tips. I want to make a round tabletop for a Saarinen tulip base I've been holding for years. So I want to taper the edge of the table so it looks thin...any suggestions?
For those of us that don't have milling stuff (planar, joiner, lathe), but a good table saw, router and other basic tools..any suggestions for the legs?
Sweet table. I like how the corners came out. Do you ever have issues with residual glue after wiping with a rag like that? I tend to wait for the glue to gel up good and scrape it off.
glad I found your channel, love the videos, very well made. I agree with you on just gluing things up, I used to be a custom wood worker and made a lot of fancy raised panel doors, I never once used a dowel jig or a biskit joiner when gluing the panels up. One comment on your surfacing and plaining, I used to start from rough lumber, so I would take the lumber cut it to a rough size then surface it and join one side then plane it to the thickness and then cut to size but I did notice that the lumber you started with was a little more dimensional than what i started with. I wish you would have shown the way you got all the legs the same, I love turning but have not done it in a very long time and want to get back into it, I was just wondering if you had some sort of jig? Your videos are very entertaining and I love you humor, Keep up the good work bud
Hello. I really enjoyed your round table build. The taper of your table legs looks great. I have a question. I am wondering what kind of aluminum extrusion you used for your miter saw station? Thanks for all your great work. Andy Davis
Would you recommend the Rubio coating you used if you were trying to accomplish a Ceruse style finish on something? I'm working on a Tagelharpa and thought that style of finish would look really good as well as give it a vintage sort of appearance.
Great build! I still have a hard time believing any tabletop of that size is held together with only glue. I cringed when you lifted it up in the air lol
@@Bourbonmoth Why did you glue this top up but in your round trestle table build you used dominos to hold it together? Just curious what made these 2 tables different in the joinery. Thank you!
Great video! I am a proud owner of a domino XL, the set up pins alone are worth its weight in gold! I see a Powermatic drum sander in the back of your shop that I have not seen featured in any of your videos. Do you like it? Any reason why you chose that over some of the competitors? Thank you
I'd love to see a bigger version of this made with a centre leg. I feel that the Top gets too much attention. I'd love to see a more basic plywood or mdf table top made with more focus on a centre leg to hold a 1.8m table.
Love this table! (And my wife loves the way it looks too) - do you have rough dimensions of the base and legs? Also, well done on getting those legs to match so well from the lathe! Keep it up, my dude
how do you feel about tongue and groove planks for the top? i milled my own out of alder and it seems to work pretty good at turning the top into one solid unit. ive used 2 layers high quality birch 3/4 plywood for backing running my center seams perpindicular of course and wrapped square aluminum tubing with alder to make a square stretcher base that i will attach layers of alder ripped real thin to form a circle around it. when all is said and done ill put a 2" wide 1/8" thick band of steel around it with rivet heads. the problem-securing it to the base and preventing sagging over time. i feel like its inevitable that over time it will droop some.??? your thoughts?
This was perfect as a vanity desk for me. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxMAlHv7-BBWMrPRm5-uEoD6rtdT7SG2Qr Especially the glossy finish. Easy to cleanI was looking for something that wasn't the traditional white and with more of a modern feel. This fit the bill beautifully. I put it together with no problems, by myself in under an hour.Make sure you double check where you place the drawer tracks before screwing down. I had one track that needed to be aligned with different holes than the rest.
Hey bro, quick question- (i've seen you do it a few times now). Why do you play with the thicknesser rotating knob control thingy while your wood is running through it?
@burbonmoth Awesome video. Currently building a white oak table for an outdoor application. I like this finish and I just ordered some via your link above. Question for you, have you used this for an outdoor project? I want to keep it as natural as possible. Thanks.
Instead of taking the time to set up a dado stack for your z fasteners why don't you just use a biscuit jointer at the correct depth and cut your slots that way? Much faster and same result!
Here is a tip for removing the glue. Use a plastic straw and run it down the seam. It'll pick up most of it and then use the rag.

Jason like the table alot was thinking of doing a countertop with the white oak. Would appreciate your input

how where you able to get identical table legs using your lathe?
Can this table extend to an oval?

Sweet table..I Just got into wood working. I will be looking forward in seeing more great idea s from you..
Cheers
Thanks for the video! the bit you have linked is not a plunge bit, how did you get the bit into the top?
What if I only have a square clock for reference? Do you think I can still build this round table?
Sawdust to clean up glue and other spilled liquid.
How did you manage to make 4 identical legs on a lathe? Is there a trick to that or did you just eyeball it?
Damn you and your domino! 😆

im a professional as well and I don't use a domino, I use a slot mortiser

Since I sand the top pretty thoroughly it’s never been a problem
That’s cool. I guess I worry more about tight corners.
Ben Nawrath a card scraper works great for tight corners
