The boys indicated should be removed from the school and sent on home-detention while this is investigated, so girls can feel safe! #AI has been nothing but trouble since its inception.
Super frustrating that the story begins with images of the school and statements from the Principal. Why do we assume the school is expected to manage this? Why isn’t the camera pointed at the boys’ houses and the parents having to defend themselves? This has NOTHING to do with the school other than the fact that this is a place they all go to. Schools have to push back on taking ownership for everything in society that goes wrong.
Schools are there to educate, therefore schoolgirls must be taught that this can happen to them and how to deal with it, and male pupils should be educated as to what will happen to them should they choose to engage in this behaviour. If these incidents are happening at school, then they need to be dealt with by the school in the same way as any other bullying or hate crime.
I can only imagine how traumatic this must be for a kid. As the legal analyst said, this is already illegal simply because it is a depiction of a minor. However, I disagree that the blame falls on big tech companies. If you've tried using these new AI tools, you'll find that it's not possible to create nude photos of any kind. The mom: "Let's talk about legislation to keep all children safe from AI--." News anchor: "But how did it make you feel? Francesca, what's the hot gos in the hallways, girl? Oh, sorry, did you think this was the news?"
She's right once something is on the internet its there forever. Additionally, just hitting delete on an electronic device doesn't actually get rid of the immage. It just marks it as not there. Then the computer treats it as open space and eventually writes over it. This is why if you're quick enough you can undelete stuff you accidentally deleted.
Very strange world we live in. Back in my day we didn't even have digital cameras in highschool, or technology like this so we didn't have to worry and stress about this kind of thing. We would just hook up with a person if we liked them. There was no sexting, sharing nudes etc. Technology sure is a double edged sword. It can save lives and destroy them.
Open source software exists. Not everything online is made by some huge corp. Most of it is made by single individuals who are passionate about making cool tech and don't care how people use it. That's like saying you should be put in prison for your boss exploiting overseas labor.
This is something thats been around for a while ! even with tech, and its no surprise that this would happen now. I knew all this crap was going to happen to kids at school way back in 1998 with the internet one day !
The software team didn’t think if AI was ethical, only if it was possible and pushed it to its limits. We need a system in place to keep them accountable. I’m a software developer myself and feel we need this to stop this crap!!
They’re smart, but not smart enough to consider the repercussions of their haste decisions. They also get funding that they must produce an end product even if they change their mind about going forth with the project for moral reasons.
So, is this one of the reasons why A.I. is a threat to human life? If it were me, I would make A.I. more safer to use to prevent stuff like this happening to poor girls like her. This is just awful!
AI is a threat because it gives every human individual the same level of power and control through technology that massive companies have. No longer do you need to know how to code or make art or use software to design anything your heart and imagination desires. A single person can create the video game or song or music video of their dreams in a matter of minutes and hours using nothing more than their laptop or smartphone and an Internet connection, and THAT is a threat to anyone who holds power over others in life, whether through employment, politics or otherwise. Also, big tech and governments are really scared about individuals being empowered to make biological agents, and that is probably not good to do.
I work in the AI field and this is the dangers that were warned about. It wasn’t just pictures, you can actually make full on videos with it. It’s extremely bad
When you use some AI generators, specifically Bing, it tells you that it's illegal to recreate AI of famous people ... how is this any different? A charge should be made, this could've ruined her life.
I empathize with every young girl who had to endure such a situation. Just to clarify, AI has a bunch of restrictions to prevent XXX-rated content, like the one you mentioned. The reporter is really dumbing down the conversation. We should listen to Dorota- she is really fantastic (articulate. On point. Nuanced understanding of situation). I am horrified for this poor group of girls.
For all the girls affected, I’m so sorry your going through this but way to speak out and this SHOULD very well be illegal just like the real thing!
Even if it wasn’t real images, it is much harder for girl/women to get up and dust off rumors, lies, mistakes than a guy to. It shouldn’t be but it is.
In the future people are gonna be making AI p*** videos with their crush.
As a woman, it’s scary. The way men already dehumanize and violate us, it’s scary to know what’s about to unfold with AI.
I saw a Facebook post where a man used AI to create a digital OnlyFans model and was essentially p.imping her out.

Unbelievable! Sick, sick, sick! No, this is not okay. I am glad they are teaching these girls to self advocate. I hate to say this, but I am sure this isn’t the first time these boys have done something like this they just happened to get caught this time. I hope local law enforcement are looking into their accounts for other types of criminal activity.
The boys indicated should be removed from the school and sent on home-detention while this is investigated, so girls can feel safe! #AI has been nothing but trouble since its inception.
AI helped us cure Leukemia.
What a bad take.
This is why A.I. needs to be regulated.
It’s not the parents. Males are rotten in every culture.
But I do agree with you that we need to hear from the parents about what action they are going to take.
I'm so happy to know that other boy classmates made an effort to support these girls. That will help these girls know that males can be good people.

I suspect that the offending child did this using existing deep fake tools that have existed for a decade now. It may have even been developed using simple photoshop. Most importantly, laws can only punish these acts. They can never stop it from happening.
Repulsive and absurd.

They can't. However, they also cannot prove the images are gone. The internet is forever. So they either lied to her or had no intention of actually addressing the problem.@@e.t.2914

Definitely harassment. But can a child be charged with making cp? What does this mean when coming from other children especially when it's generated with AI. News anchor: "But how did it make you feel? Francesca, what's the hot gos in the hallways, girl? Oh, sorry, did you think this was the news?"
She's right once something is on the internet its there forever. Additionally, just hitting delete on an electronic device doesn't actually get rid of the immage. It just marks it as not there. Then the computer treats it as open space and eventually writes over it. This is why if you're quick enough you can undelete stuff you accidentally deleted.
It is a crime. The kids are using AI created and altered images to once again dehumanize young women.

I’m wondering more and more if all this technology is a net positive or negative.

This is something thats been around for a while ! even with tech, and its no surprise that this would happen now. I knew all this crap was going to happen to kids at school way back in 1998 with the internet one day !
Laws and regulations are always two steps behind technology.
I will need to see the images to have an informed opinion on this matter.
Yep. This is what i was kind of afraid of.

I realy never understood UNDERAGE boys obession with nudes, prnography, humiliating girls, etc.
That aspect is simple: boys, teens, men like to look at naked girls.
I empathize with every young girl who had to endure such a situation. Just to clarify, AI has a bunch of restrictions to prevent XXX-rated content, like the one you mentioned. It's highly probable that Photoshop was the tool used for such manipulations. It's plausible that the boys are not being truthful, likely out of fear of facing consequences for manually creating those images.
"AI has a bunch of restrictions to prevent XXX-rated content" It seems that you're not educated on that people are using it to create NSFW content now.
@@courtr1588 It seems neither of you are educated enough to understand that AI is not a monolith, and multiple hundreds of millions of different image, text, video and audio models exist, trained on tons and tons of freely available yet copywritten internet material.
Restrictions on one model, like DALLE or Midjourney, is not restrictions on _every_ model, and it takes no less than a single internet search to find both censored and non censored AI of varying kinds.
