How about the notification symbols..they not show up ?
It's so sad that samsung not providing a simple option to lock individual apps. Its a serious concern for users. Luckly the banking apps comes with their own fingerprint lock.
The simple thing that chinese smart phone do better.

@@kubikula2614 Even Samsung has adverts. I switched from Xiaomi to Samsung because of camera but now I realize that there is not much difference in camera quality (at 1X zoom) b/w 4 year old Redmi Note 6 pro and Samsung S21 FE especially considering price diff.
Mi had many features that are not found in Samsung.
Anyways I assume Samsung is secure so I am sticking with it (iphone is out of budget). But for that security, without proper app lock in Samsung, you should keep your main password 🔑 a secret.

Beautiful video ..realme had a similar inbuilt lock and when i upgraded to galaxy i was so sad all those app locks with ad was a mess. You are a life saver and this trick is insane

This app/video is just so good, and of course good for samsung users who dont have built in applock. However i may suggest an improvement. When you have completed your shortcut and secured it and then hidden the original app from your home screen etc, for example Google Wallet, here is the issue with samsung. On samsung there is a display feature called Edge Panels , if you turn it on it puts a small line down the edge of the screen and when you swipe it it allows you to put apps for quick access. Even if you have used the shortcut and then hidden the app it does not hide the original app from the edge panel selection menu, so in this case a user can still open Wallet from the Edge panel with no security. If he clever enough!!
Why Samsung why? Why couldn't you give us the default lock app option.?

Samsung lacks the application lock feature, which is available in Chinese devices such as Xiaomi and Huawei❤

Awesome, this is the closest thing to dedicated fingerprint that they removed for some reason. Still looking for a proper fix for that, but this still shows the icon.

@@theshubhsrivastava This is not a proper way to secure apps. It is just a workaround. Yes you will have to close the app manually. Still, your stuff is not secure bucause people can unhide actual apps or search for app name in the search bar in app drawer.

It's more of a widget on the home screen which acts as an app icon so we can only place it on home screen.

Thats really cool, but we have a loop hole here. Anyone can open my Camera app reach to the galley very easily. Can you suggest something to fix this too.

I already used this app. Its cool but got one huge flaw with the lock mechanism. You can bypass it easily just by going through the app switcher. I think they should fix this.
I mean we have secure folder no reason to use this
@Adri Yes that's rt.. or at least make a different app which works exactly like this but not through shortcut. We all do use secure folder but that serves a different purpose. Many of us would also prefer locking the apps which are on the phone for different reasons..

You can easily add a shortcut from secured folder.
You can still go to menu n access it from there.. shortcuts can be locked on home screen only

Didn't work for me. The short cut link had a tick on it. So wasn't identical. The fingerprint lock worked though. So I deleted the shortcut app, and was able to access the app I previously locked

I have huawei and xioami for my phones, it has a standard app lock that comes with the phone. Happy with it, been using it for so many years till now.
Then bought a Samsung galaxy tab s8 ultra for work and was disappointed with the in-app folder lock that somes with the tablet.
It will put apps inside a locked folder. But one huge flaw is u can access the supposedly locked app from home instead.
Samsung should do something about app locks. If huawei and xioami can do it, they should also do it
Xioami standard app lock is as useless as your bicycle lock
We can use secure folder rite.
Not the same as locking an app on the home screen.. secure folder is completely locked for all apps you place in it. What if you wanto accessa particular app from the home screen and yet have it secured. That's when you can use this trick.

It is not secure, anyone can enter through the application menu, or the play store, if Samsung makes the biometrics that are in Modes and Routines work, then it will be good

I have one problem with it. If i use this shortcut app from the widgets section to add any app.. suppose gallery, the gallery app icon appears with shortcut creator app not the actual gallery app. I tried to use the customisation process but still I'm getting the same issue. Due you have any resolution?

You can just delete the shortcut you have created. The original app icon will remain on the phone which you can place it back where you need it

I know this trick for quite awhile but it still has vulnerabilities because it only lets you lock the desired apps in the home screen plus if someone knows how to reach the home screen settings, they will definitely unhide these apps!
I'm still looking for an amazing app or a trick to get me a full security!

And unfortunately, there is a backdoor to the Gallery app from the *Wallpapers & Style > Gallery* when Long press on the Home screen & from the finder search, even without un-hide. 😑

Samsung should give this feature officially atleast on One UI 5 😐 It's important than the themed icons.
Try Secure Folder. I use it for my banking apps and sensitive files. Yes, it lets you lock apps and files! I have an A71, so even the mid rangers have it. Look for it in Settings under Biometrics and security.

Secure Folder is old built-in app which hasn't been customized since its release years ago!
For example you can't create a folder to add needed apps inside it as you do in the main interface!
You can't change wallpapers inside it at all!
You can't add home page shourtcuts to it!
You can't use edge lighting feature in it when you receive notifications!
You don't have access to accessibilty features in it and the list goes on and on...
So you see it's outdated!
Furthermore, there is no built-in AppLock outside the Secure Folder to lock the apps you want especially when you hand your phone to someone!
All chinese brands do have it Huawei Xiaomi, Oneplus, Oppo... Why Samsung don't want to add these features?
I've even sent my feedback to them to consider these features but they never listen to me!!
Can someone tell me what i need to do to ensure the applications are not retaining the same appearance as the shortcut marker. My gallerry and my Yahoo email are still retaining the appearance of the shorcut marker
There's one thing I loved 100% that I can hide any Application I want
How would that make a difference? Though its a nice trick and thanks for the video but at the end we have to install 3rd party app, which I don't want. Similarly, on Samsung phones there's no feature to view real time network upload and download speed like other chinese phones.
