How I love this song, made me cry when I first heard it 🩷🩷🫶🏻. May I know what key you sang this in?

Grammar irks me: it ought to say "standing face to face with *him* who died and rose again."

I hope someone fixes it. I just couldn’t sing it incorrectly.

@@mattparksmusic Funny, but it's still the object of a preposition. Look up the difference between subject and object. The subject of a sentence is never used in a prepositional phrase. Do you say "with I" or "with me?"

In an age of seriously flawed lyrics found in modern Christian songs, we are complaining about "he" or "him"??? Really?!? It's not as reckless as certain other songs (wink, wink). "He who" is an older way to say it (Think KJV and its poetic gracefulness). I'd imagine Phil Wickham is going for that poetic sound, rather than worrying about grammar issues. Sing it with he and then with him and see which sounds better. Which one flows from the mouth better? "He who" is a better transition than "him who". The "m" tends to get in the way. Using an open-ended word like he instead of the closed him allows the tongue to stay out of the way. (Even though technically using him is gooder grammar. Bwa-ha-ha...)

Thank you for replying. It’s a minor point, not a big deal, but incorrect grammar is distracting, that’s all. It’s not poetic, nor is it KJV language. It’s simply a mistake. Aside from this, as I said, it’s a great song.

    Beautiful song🙌🏼
But I recommend you check the grammar.
“By He who..” should be “By Him who..”
Don’t take my word for it. Check it out.
