Those Mukitake look awesome. So such a great farm set up you have and its a thumbs up on the taste test from your kid :)
I love the time lapse
Yay, Spookimuki at long last Gary....
Have you had a read on the health benefits of Mukitaki, I'm so looking forward to growing these beauties.
I have not researched much yet on health benefits but it has incredible flavor and texture!
@@FreshfromtheFarmFungi I'm fairly sure the flavour will go down well with our Chefs, and ideal for our colder climate.
I'll place my order when I get home next week....
Precious moment, his first mushroom tasting! thanks for sharing it with us, he seems quite interested in you first try XD
I'm so glad to see you bro. mukitaki is just superb. baby kiss from your longtime subscriber.
Thank you so much!
God those pins look like maggots, surprised you didn't have a panic attack seeing those in your grow room LOL
Nothing surprises a mushroom farmer
He liked it!
Where did you get your culture from?
I isolated from some sawdust spawn I got in the spring- going to work these from spores next
I’ve never tried cultivated late fall oyster but I’ve harvested and eaten them from the wild. I found them to be nasty. Lol.
maybe when they are cultivated they taste different- Ive never had wild ones but these were spectacular
I have heard this and I believe it’s a locality thing, but who knows every location I find them I devour them and they are all equally delicious I find they taste like potato chips try cooking them for longer I like them to be nice and crispy.
🤨
"What the heck am I eating!? Oh, not too bad. Good even."
Gary, i wonder if in your e-book about growing mushrooms you explaing the needs and best circumstances for each individual mushroom thhat you grow?
It is more of an overview of all mushrooms - I am still figuring that out myself
Hey Gary, I was wondering if you ever tried outdoor cultivation of mushrooms? With all the innocculum residue you generate, is it possible to toss it over tree's prunings and get a harvest from that? As always, thanks for videos, they r most informative!!
I pick these in Ontario Canada all fall, often with snow on them. I have a small lab and might be able to send you a culture, or fresh specimen, if you want to try different genetics. The wild ones here have thinner flesh than what you showed in your video, but that might be more environment than genetics.
cool! Id love to try - I am from Buffalo so it would be closer to my hometown mushies! Email us @freshfromthefarmfungi@gmail.com maybe I can cross strains
Thank you for sharing Gary.
Is that a strain from Japan? I've heard they are popular there, but the ones I find in the wild in Indiana have a great texture but not a good flavor.
Im not sure where this one was from - it has a good flavor I would love to cross it with a wild one
I need to try different types of mushrooms.
I'm really super fired up about growing them. It probably would be a good idea to taste some of them, don't you think?
Your baby stole my name lol
inherited * ha
how long did it take to fruit after colonization?
about 3 weeks
