    Great video! Lately I've been prioritizing front squats more than back squats. Currently front squatting 3 times a week, and back squatting twice a week has had a huge carryover to my back squat and deadlift. Plus nothing looks more badass than being able to front squat a ton of weight.

  • @TheDevonFoley
    @TheDevonFoley 8 років тому +19

    used these tips today and can definitely tell a huge difference. even put up more weight at a higher volume than I have ever before. cant wait until next leg day to see how much more i can lift!!!

  • @johna3626
    @johna3626 8 років тому +2

    I can attest to tip #3, I kept falling forward on low bar squats, which indeed resembled more of a bend pattern. So I did front squats and focussed on keeping the body vertical and the weight on my heel, like Candito instructed. I first noticed the weight shifting slightly towards mid foot, but kept trying to engrave the new pattern. Immediately after doing several sets of front squats I did low bar again and it felt a lot easier to keep the weight in a straight line (I allow the bar to push me down, while keeping the body tight). Can't thank you enough Alan, you're the best source of information when it come to lifting.

    I'm a new lifter and have been having trouble with balance and mobility with my squat. I had trouble getting my thighs parallel without a buttwink. I took your advice and started doing front squats and WOW, what a difference! I feel way more stable, can squat way lower without a butt wink and lower back pain, and feel more powerful and confident all the way around. THANK YOU!

    The thumbless grip is the same that mark rippeteo teaches. It is meant to keep the upper back tight and the elbows from shooting upwards. Yet due to semantics people have accused him of preaching "squatmornings". He never preached shooting ur elbows up and letting your chest cave in.

    I recently tried DB squats ...holding DBs at side as in Deadlift. Man ...this is the best exercise ever invented. I put 2 " on thighs in 3 mos. You don't need heavy weights. At 230 lbs boidyweight two 50 lb DBs is plenty ...4 sets 15 reps is perfect. Great pump and easy to do right. I guess this is more of a bodybuilding exercise but great for putting on some thigh muscle.

      He's right. Not trying to give you a hard time. I myself have had to cut out pressing movements for a few weeks and only do pulling movements to get my shoulder mobility back. Many trainers tell you to do one pull per press. The reality is most people spend 14 hours a day in chairs and may need to do 2 or 3 pulls per press

    I like the 3rd tip. I am that type of squatter myself. When the bar gets heavy I tip forward. SOOO, when would I incorporate the Front Squat? Before the back squat , after the back squat or on another day as a separate exercise entirely. I know you say do it more than once a week if you are poor at them, but how to add them in if you are like me,4 times a week training bench, deads , shoulders and squats?
