Sorry to be so offtopic but does anyone know a tool to log back into an instagram account? I was dumb lost my login password. I appreciate any tips you can offer me.
@Raylan Alexander i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and Im trying it out now. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Ladies & gentlemen: Alan Thrall. Such a pitty I'm spanish & I fuck understand a fucking half. U make always best videos, even to foreign or deaf people. Congrats Alan
Great video! Lately I've been prioritizing front squats more than back squats. Currently front squatting 3 times a week, and back squatting twice a week has had a huge carryover to my back squat and deadlift. Plus nothing looks more badass than being able to front squat a ton of weight.
used these tips today and can definitely tell a huge difference. even put up more weight at a higher volume than I have ever before. cant wait until next leg day to see how much more i can lift!!!
I can attest to tip #3, I kept falling forward on low bar squats, which indeed resembled more of a bend pattern. So I did front squats and focussed on keeping the body vertical and the weight on my heel, like Candito instructed. I first noticed the weight shifting slightly towards mid foot, but kept trying to engrave the new pattern. Immediately after doing several sets of front squats I did low bar again and it felt a lot easier to keep the weight in a straight line (I allow the bar to push me down, while keeping the body tight). Can't thank you enough Alan, you're the best source of information when it come to lifting.
That was a terrible video! You're going to put a bunch of chiropractors out of business from people not injuring themselves in the gym! How do you sleep at night knowing that Chiropractors everywhere aren't able to make their Mercedes payments because their clients are no longer getting injured!?...
Great, because I front squat 3 days a week and back squat 2 times a week. I love squatting. People will say that's too much, but screw them I happy and I'm getting bigger and stronger.
The advice that helped me most here was to not look at the mirror while squatting. In one training session I’ve noticed stronger squatting just by not looking at the mirror. Thanks Alan
10 of 10 used this grip and spotting (picking a visual target) made all the difference. New pr 365. Ive done that before but today I did it beltless. Thanks for the tips!
Thanks Alan. Only because of your squats form + tips video I have been able to improve my squat & numbers. From zero to 80 kgs (Ass to grass) in 5 months.
I'm a new lifter and have been having trouble with balance and mobility with my squat. I had trouble getting my thighs parallel without a buttwink. I took your advice and started doing front squats and WOW, what a difference! I feel way more stable, can squat way lower without a butt wink and lower back pain, and feel more powerful and confident all the way around. THANK YOU!
Really good tips off your channel I like how you go through the do's and don't my squatting has improved a he'll of a lot with a lot more weight. Keep up the good work!👍💪
damn i always always drove my elbows up (couldnt get thhem up all the way, but still made an effort to point them up). thats what i learned in rippetoe's squat videos.
Thanks for the vid buddy I gotta say I can be a bit of a hater sometimes but I've watched a bunch of your vids and I really like/appreciate what I see. Keep up the good work
The thumbless grip is the same that mark rippeteo teaches. It is meant to keep the upper back tight and the elbows from shooting upwards. Yet due to semantics people have accused him of preaching "squatmornings". He never preached shooting ur elbows up and letting your chest cave in.
Can you show a video on bar placement on the body for front and back squats? Thanks for the videos... very technical, instructional but with just enough humor.
+Arthur Sartorius thanks man and that's really impressive. I'm hope to get my parallel squat too 535 before next football season and 505 atg. What position did you play?
I recently tried DB squats ...holding DBs at side as in Deadlift. Man ...this is the best exercise ever invented. I put 2 " on thighs in 3 mos. You don't need heavy weights. At 230 lbs boidyweight two 50 lb DBs is plenty ...4 sets 15 reps is perfect. Great pump and easy to do right. I guess this is more of a bodybuilding exercise but great for putting on some thigh muscle.
Damn, that focus on one thing tip, that tip itself got me up 55 lbs. Home gym now so it's easy. At the gym there's to much yoga pants to make the eyes wonder. Thanks. Crazy how something so little can change something so big. Still miss the yoga pants though
Mirror trick = spot on. I usually squat a home in my power rack, where I have no mirror. Tried at the gym the other day, and I fucking struggled like hell. Balance felt wrong, everything felt wrong.
I got a very good gymreapers one pronged belt because Alan said it’s the best. It’s made all the difference along with the gymreapers knee wraps. Yet would anyone suggest which squatting shoes are the best?
In my gym the squat racks are positioned behind the treadmills and bikes, and my point that I stare at is in-line with the machines so if it's being used It's their asses I'll be perceived as looking at. Gym problems.. ;-;
"IF YOU SUCK AT FRONT SQUAT: GET BETTER." Fucking yes!! lol. I shot the pre-workout I was drinking through my nose when you said that, but that's ok. Comedy is important!
tip #3...so freaking true...i always though i had a decent squat, but when i started front squatting, all of my imprefections were amplified...i can squat about 190, but i was struggling with 95 on a front squat...
im going to start some front squats because i sumo deadlift (recently switched from conventional) and i want really strong legs to help with sumo as well as squatting more.........
The shoulder mobility shot blew my mind. As someone who has repeatedly watched your shoulder video i have recently been feeling less tension in my weak shoulder. But can anyone stretch enough to be able to do that or you have physical difference that allows you to do that. 2:06
He's right. Not trying to give you a hard time. I myself have had to cut out pressing movements for a few weeks and only do pulling movements to get my shoulder mobility back. Many trainers tell you to do one pull per press. The reality is most people spend 14 hours a day in chairs and may need to do 2 or 3 pulls per press
I saw a video in which Scott Herman did that with a band and I thought it looked hard, turns out I can do it just fine and its part of my shoulder warmup.
omar lives in toronto I went to his gym couple times. personally now with the way things are economically in Canada im thinking of moving to the US but culturally i love being a Canadian
I like the 3rd tip. I am that type of squatter myself. When the bar gets heavy I tip forward. SOOO, when would I incorporate the Front Squat? Before the back squat , after the back squat or on another day as a separate exercise entirely. I know you say do it more than once a week if you are poor at them, but how to add them in if you are like me,4 times a week training bench, deads , shoulders and squats?
One of the better squat tips videos I have seen. Thanks man
Sorry to be so offtopic but does anyone know a tool to log back into an instagram account?

Very true, a good video maker should not have to rely highly on the words spoken to have the point understood.
Alan Thrall is a very good video maker.
Great video! Lately I've been prioritizing front squats more than back squats. Currently front squatting 3 times a week, and back squatting twice a week has had a huge carryover to my back squat and deadlift. Plus nothing looks more badass than being able to front squat a ton of weight.
True dat
How are you able to squat this often?
used these tips today and can definitely tell a huge difference. even put up more weight at a higher volume than I have ever before. cant wait until next leg day to see how much more i can lift!!!

this is a brilliant channel, deserves more recognition
1:58 Holy shiii.....oh.
Takes about 1 1/2 metric tons on each end to bend a bar like this.
Bar should be crushed
That was a terrible video! You're going to put a bunch of chiropractors out of business from people not injuring themselves in the gym! How do you sleep at night knowing that Chiropractors everywhere aren't able to make their Mercedes payments because their clients are no longer getting injured!?...
Chiropractors are full of shit....
Truuuue

Great, because I front squat 3 days a week and back squat 2 times a week. I love squatting. People will say that's too much, but screw them I happy and I'm getting bigger and stronger.

"If you suck at front squats, get better" Best line ever!
The advice that helped me most here was to not look at the mirror while squatting. In one training session I’ve noticed stronger squatting just by not looking at the mirror. Thanks Alan
Love your channel Alan! I'm always excited when I see a new video from you in my feed.
10 of 10 used this grip and spotting (picking a visual target) made all the difference. New pr 365. Ive done that before but today I did it beltless. Thanks for the tips!

Right lol. Whenever I do my speed squats I notice such a difference in bar speed when I tuck my elbows
Great tips Alan. Thanks very much.
Running Smolov Jr with front squats the last several weeks. Loving it.
I'm going to join you on that one
the part about mirrors is so bang on, even tho this video is like 8 years old. Mirror squatting is the death of proprioception
another fine video. Thank you for taking the time.
I'd never even heard of front squats. The plan I'm doing just says "squats" period....so this video was very informative.

Thanks for your tips Alan. Going to improve my front squats!
That first tip was like magic!

And I'm seriously considering upping that squat frequency.
Lucas Tadeu Teixeira wtf i bench 4x a week but squat like occasionally when my legs feel like it

I got a very good gymreapers one pronged belt because Alan said it’s the best. It’s made all the difference along with the gymreapers knee wraps.

omar lives in toronto I went to his gym couple times. personally now with the way things are economically in Canada im thinking of moving to the US but culturally i love being a Canadian
I was suffering from elbow pain while doing high bar squats.
