  • Many smart or security devices require that you connect to 2.4GHz networks during the setup phase. This could be as easy as selecting from a list of available networks on your smart phone but many times this is not the case and setting up that smart or security device just does not work . This video was created to help with connecting to your 2.4GHz network and getting that smart or security device configured and connected to your Wi-Fi. We also provide some great information on the differences between 2.4Ghz and 5GHz.

    I am speechless after having watched your video. I was about the smash the 2.4g CCTV camera and about to buy a '4G camera' when I had decided to dig in more into the 2.4g/5g debate and learn a bit more as to why things are different. Your explanation is absolutely crystal clear. Hope to get it going now. Many thanks!

      @@senexhome No problem you deserve it! And I actually was able to get my 5g off my tablets and phone and switch them to 2.4 GHz and then my solar cameras finally accepted and successfully downloaded on to them to the app! I had to go to my router app which you said and accomplished it there and I figured it out! Thank you!

    Thanks so much for this video which really helped. In my case, all I had to do was to walk away from my property until the wifi connection dropped. As I slowly walked back, my phone reconnected to the 2.4GHz band and it has stayed on that even back in the house, so I have been able to connect all my smart devices without any problems before reconnecting my phone to 5GHz. Perfect 😊

    I have a dual band router from Starlink. I have Wyze floodlights / cameras that only work in 2.4 ghz frequency. Is there a way to split or shut off 5 ghz. Do I want to shut off 5 ghz & possibly reduce download speeds ? TY

    • @senexhome
      @senexhome  2 місяці тому +1

      Your Starlink router should allow you to split the 2.4/5 GHz into two channels. Try going to the settings in the Starlink app and find the option "Split 2.4/5". You can also try disabling the 5Ghz radio temporally but should enable again once done.

      If you have separate SSID's I would think yes. Once connected your device should be able to access the 2.4gHz band

    My camera often says "remote session overload " and disconnects . Any advice on fixing this?

    • @senexhome
      @senexhome  17 днів тому

      Based on the message 'remote session' would lead me to believe the issue has something todo with too many users viewing at the same time? If only one remote session (user viewing) then maybe try to reduce the load on your system by reducing frame rates or resolution (could be called quality) on the camera(s). Other features that take processing power could be Motion Detection and CODEC settings. If none of the above work then I would need more info on your your system like model, # cameras and settings to be able to make a better diagnoses.

      Hi, thanks for watching my video. Just a few questions in order to help. When you say "my centrylink is connected" can you tell me where you are seeing this message? Do you have any other 2.4ghz devices on your network that are working? How far is your Ring door bell from your router? Can you move it closer and try? What model of Ring are you using?

    Not concerned about lamps light bulbs or all that. I just need a stronger signal for my phone to pickuo in pattio area where signal is weak do to wall penetration issues. 2.4 is supposedly better for that.????

    • @senexhome
      @senexhome  4 місяці тому

      Yes 2.4 is better for penetration and range. It would be the best option.

    • @senexhome

      Temporarily maybe. Just to get connected to 2.4 then re-enable. 5GHz is faster and maybe less congested.

      Hi. Thanks for viewing our video. I assume the 2.4Ghz doesn't show on any of your devices. Since you tried all the basics like disabling Band Steering, separate SSID's then maybe a factory reset may work. You may want to retry a couple of times. Have you tried using Guest? Seems there are a lot of issues with 2.4Ghz on this particular model. Maybe have your provider replace it?
