Am always amazed how many photos there are of the Beatles that, after over half a century, are still just coming to light...
Yoko is odd
Chuck berry was furious
@@susancolvin101more then odd
I always find footage of Tittenhurst very moving, and ponder how different things would be if John had simply stayed living there.
Yep. I had another 15 minutes to the video where I talk about that. I should probably share it. It's an interesting conversation that I think a lot of people wonder about.
@@StrangeHistoryXI would see definitely be interested in that discussion.
He would be 83 nearly if he hadn't moved to New York. Again, Yoko's influence led him to his death.
AND..."imagine" if John had never met looney-tune OH NO, walked away from his wife and child, and became a preachy hypocrite !!!
I always felt that had he stayed around he would have probably had a very strange Glam Rock phase, he he probably would have been drawn to Elton and Bowie much earlier than he had, and been around Bolan and the likes, so rather than a his political phase, he would have had a glam rock phase
I wince every time I see an image of Yoko Ono with The Beatles.
Makes me sad every time I see these photos. It was the end and you can see it on their faces. Especially John and George...they knew it was over. And, no, Yoko was not a Beatle and it’s a shame John didn’t see what a disruption she was.
Agreed! John picked the worst thing to happen to him: Evil Yoko
@@applesnicolle5144 There is too much hate for Yoko. They fell in love.
I honestly believe John did know how much of a disruption she was and didn’t really care as he wanted out of the band to be one with Yoko .
@@jamesmanon3000 it doesn't/didn't seem like love to me but control & obsession between 2 needy people. Obsession can feel like love to "starving for love" people. Yoko didn't belong in the band sessions or in these photo shoots. Her energy alone was very heavy, and it disrupted the other 3 band members that DID belong there and in the recording & photo sessions. She was out of line and so was John for forcing the situation to include her (if in fact that is how it happened...or did she just push her way into being there???)!
MICHIGANDER HERE: I LEARNED FROM MY BIG SIS & BIG BROTHER TO LOVE THE BEATLES!!!! The FAB FOUR ❤️ I Remember watching them on THE ED SULLIVAN SHOW …. FEBRUARY 1964…. IT WAS MAGICAL !!! THEY WERE SOOOO CUTE 🥰!!!! I WAS 7 Years old!!!! IAM NOW 67YRS. OLD,as of OCTOBER 8th 2023!!!! SO 60 Years of Loving THESE Guys!!! Actually Longer than that… MY BIG SISTER STARTED To LISTEN To THEM In , I think it was in 1962??? MAN OH MAN ,IT WAS SO MUCH FUN!!!! MACCA( PAUL) WHAT A GORGEOUS GUY!!!🥰🥰🥰🥰❤️❤️WOW!!!LOVE THAT MAN!!!THE BEST YEARS OF M Y LIFE!!!! I LOVE THE BEATLES!!!❤️🥰❤️🥰❤️🥰🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
I think George looked stunning!!!
John and Yoko, and Paul and Linda, were ahead of their time. Now a lot of us work with our spouse. It’s very common now.
When you look at the photos it appears George is not happy. Shows his feelings as the Beatles were on the verge of breaking up
The Lads of Liverpool. The Fab Four. We never grow tired of their music and their stories. Their legend can only grow, and what a time it was to experience their rise in popularity, "I Saw Her Standing There" blasting out on the pocket radios-when we weren't listening to baseball games in America, we were listening to the Beatles, it seems. Sadly, those days seemed to pass so quickly and our melancholy nostalgia tinged with a certain feeling of loss . The impotent rage at the killing of John Lennon and the passing of George Harrison makes for wonder at what more might have been/ No, the gifts they have given us was quite enough, perhaps more than we deserve...
Hi from Liverpool, I'm living 10 minutes away from Strawberry fields & John's old house on Mather Avenue, every time I go past either place I always say " alright John ", his spirit has been seen in both places over the years, I always look up at the front bedroom window when I pass Mendips & at times it feels like somebody is looking back at me, you never know? After all, he spent many years at this house & loved it. I'm 67 now but my older sister used to go & watch them in the Cavern, she married a yank & left Liverpool in 71, I recently sent her a signed t-shirt & photo from Pete Best,I was working in the Casbah, the place the lads first played before Ringo joined them, upstairs has now been converted into a hotel, but the club is still in the basement, as it was in 59/60, the black ceiling with silver stars ,painted by the lads is still there, as is John's scratched name on a wall & ceiling which he did with a small penknife ( which is now in the Beatle museum here in Liverpool) I'm very proud of the lads, they did alright for 4 scousers who shook the world.
Eloquent comment.
Ive noticed something for a while when looking at George Harrsion over the years. When he is clean shaven, he seems to smile more, and is comical / happy, even in later years. When he had the beard, he often looked to be grumpy / unhappy..........for the most part.
Beards tend to itch....
Yeah never took much notice before but you are pretty right there, cranky bugger is our George. Love the Beatles
Paul only started to have Linda show up occasionally - after John had become "John&Yoko" for 6 months. By the time of this photo shoot (August 22, 1969) Yoko had been attached to John's hip all day, every day - for more than a year. It began with the White Album sessions in the summer of 1968... and had been that way for 15 months.
I'd be very sad if I had access to shoot the Beatles and the best photos I could capture were these..thanks for sharing what we have
I think there was a lot of contention when Yoko was with John all the time. She was sort of an intruder into their lives at that point. They all look happier together when it was just the 4 of them. I heard Chuck Berry was furious with her contribution to that song.
If you mean the Mike Douglas show, if you watch carefully someone mercifully cut her mic near the end of the song. It’s hilarious.
Super thanks for your vid. I enjoyed your presentation on other "tid-bits". Ointments and all.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Yoko once said she didn't know who he was when she first met John which I believe she knew exactly who he was, she claimed to be an artist but seemed to spend all her time next to John, she saw her future and the future was bright!
Like Megs claiming she knew nothing abt the royal family, when the childhood friends revealed she'd been obsessed with Princess Diana!
Very interesting! I was 17 back then & was sad that the Beatles were breaking up. Here we are 50 years later & the Beatles are still revered for their short but incredible contribution to music. Best music ever in my opinion!
What a great late look at the great Beatles !
The Tudor cottage that now stands at Tittenhurst is an exact replica of the original. When the Sheik bought the property, the cottage was in a great state of disrepair, so it was demolished and an exact replica was built and put in its place.
Great video! I'd love to see a video of how Tittenhurst has changed since 1988, through its renovations!
Thanks for the info! I'm amazed they got approval to do that. Well ... maybe I'm not so amazed. But still. Wow.
Ah, yes. Unsurprising demolition, given the cottage's 1600s 'pedigree'.
A proud and kind voice over and a well produced time capsule. Well done documentary, a celebration of thier time as The Beatles being complete and full circle while the future was open and full of many more such adventures.
Thank you for the kind words.

i would love to learn more about their farmhouse up in Franklin, NY! Can you do a video on that location and their interactions with it ? Love your take on John’s life as a Beatles and architecture fan!
Out of all the Beatles... John Changed the Most Drastically.. I Love The Beatles.
Interesting that the two extroverted Beatles are still with us while the two introverts are long gone. My husband was an introvert and he died young. Just an observation.
You forget that George had a studio at home. Even at Kinfauns. They used his equipment at the Apple Studio that the Get Back sessions were recorded
Yoko. Talented.
These are words that 'don't go together well.
Talented at getting rich, anyway.
And dodging bullets as well.@@shuroom57
Always wanted to see more images from this photo shoot. Thanks very much.
That look on Chuck Berry’s face says it all about how annoying everyone found Yoko Ono 😂
Thank you so much. I have seen a few of these photos and now you put the puzzle together. All taken at Tittenhurst.
I am vegan, animal lover and owner.
We vegan animal lovers need to stick together. We are waaaaaay outnumbered! Hopefully not always. :)
The keepers cottage wasn’t “Mock Tudor” it was an original Tudor cottage as it was built during the 1600’s. I have also read from various sources that it was actually John who insisted on Yoko being with him whilst he was at work, of course I don’t actually know for sure but as I have said I have read it was mainly John. Your videos are amazing, please keep them coming! I was six years old when these photos were taken & I had an older brother who use to play his Beatles records with me in his bedroom, that was my introduction to the “Fab Four”, he also took me to see “Yellow Submarine” at our local cinema a while later. As a teen I really got into them & bought many of their albums. Your videos help me to understand their history..Greetings from England 🙋🏻♀️🇬🇧
It's cool to see videos of the photo shoot and the many pictures along with the layout and history of the place
Yoko was Johns handler, she was in total control of him for the most part!!
yes !!
The greatest band of all time
Weeping Atlas Cedars made their way into the lyrics of George’s “Beware of Darkness”
I worked at tittenhurst park in 1981. Ringo had just sold it. It was a recording studio at the time. The room with the white piano in which the video for ‘imagine’ was shot, is in the house. I remember painting that room. The piano had gone by then. Also there was a full size concrete T rex in the garden. You could walk up the driveway to the house. No security, no gates, nothing. It’s now owned by a rich Arab, and is beyond recognition.
God damn rich arabs buyin' every darn thang!!
The Beatles made my childhood bearable.
My opinion on Yoko is that she had a scream that broke even the sound barrier!😳😳😳😳
This is brilliant. I don't want it to end.
Wow. Thank you. There was another 15 minutes that I took out because I thought people would want me to pipe down already. I’ll add that 15 minutes to the next Tittenhurst Park video.
@@StrangeHistoryX The longer the better. Your commentary is superb!
@harpers1niter I 😊never want them to end either, they are so touching and amazing. And epically narrated. 😊
Great job!
Your question..” what do you think about Yoko being thete so often..”
Answer..
Awkward and insane..
They look fed up, odd smiles but there’s not a lot of obvious warmth going on.
Some really great photos….these are why the Hey Jude Album cover has always been one of my favorites. The thing is they all (including Paul at times) look tired, worn out, and bored. They did a lot in the time they were together. Thanks for the video and the pics.
That's Beatles for sale 😮
Wistful feelings washing over as I watch these pictures. As George sang, "All those years ago....."
This was the last day that all four Beatles would be together at the same time.
That was Awesome! I was at the point of tears at a time or two. Thank you for all you do and posting this.
Wow, thank you!
Its incredible how much they changed in just 6 years isnt it - in particular John - you would have never have recognised him from how he looked in 1963 when they became famous
John appears to be wearing an ammunition belt, perhaps from Morocco or Afghanistan, from which many shops in London sold ethnic products at the time.
They really were trying to look like The Band at this point, i.e. the Big Pink cover. RIP Robbie Robertson.
I really enjoyed the information about the trees.
I have to say they all look like they’re feeling awkward being around each other. Makes sense they were in the process of breaking up.
They all look as if they would like to be someplace else. A far cry from the photos in 1964. Everyone knows now what was going on musically between them. The end was getting close.
Speaking of the times, both Beatles were wearing cowboy hats and Yoko was wearing an Indian headscarf... one can only imagine them following Clint Eastwood's series of cowboy movies up to 1969.
The arrival of Yoko Ono and the other Beatles' partners changed the dynamic of the band, making their breakup inevitable.
Brian Epstein's death probably made a bigger difference to the Beatles trajectory going forward than the arrival of Yoko or Linda. Brian was the man who held the business end together. Subsequent managers didn't understand the "boys" like Brian did. They were just in the biz of making the biz more profitable for themselves. I understand why Yoko and Linda were so cherished by their mates, John and Paul. Personal losses of close ones ( both of their mothers died young, for example ) can influence the choice of mates later on. Yoko was an innovative and skilled artist in her own right, for sure, but she also had an anchoring effect on John. Same with Linda and Paul. People change. Events change people. "In My Life" and all. John and Paul did have successful marriages to their partners, in the end, and that matters most of all.
Really? It didn't break up the Rolling Stones and many other bands because they kept their wives and girlfriends out of the business. Sadly, John was a wounded man and OH NO (the manipulative, control-freak, nut case) took advantage of his weakness.
I agree with you regarding the loss of Brian Epstein. That was the beginning of the end of the group, the first nail in the coffin. They were not businessmen.
As for Yoko: in my opinion she was a self-promoting manipulative control-freak, devoid of artistic and musical talent. John should've stayed with Cynthia or May Pang. @@jabbermocky4520
Both John Lennon and Yoko Ono seemed to be very insecure people. Both seemed either oblivious to how their actions affected the group dynamics or didn’t care.
On the Get Back documentary she seemed always be there, not contributing just hanging around like a bad smell.
Credit to the other Beatles for accepting the situation and trying to get along.
Some people think that Yoko Ono was talented but I just can’t see it, her screeching was just that - screeching.
Always thought it was ironic how the two preached peace, love and understanding while at the same time were anything but to Cynthia and Julien Lennon.
Lennon bought Tittenhurst because it reminded him of Calderstones House that is situated in Calderstones Park.
I did a video about that. Beautiful building and history.
"Imagine no possessions, I wonder if you can....." John certainly couldn't!
Photos from this shoot always fascinated me as a kid in the 1970s. From moptops to this, especially Lennon. They also all looked cool, even Ringo.
Ringo IS the cool Beatle.
Even Ringo - 💍🤩🚂
Even Ringo? Especially Ringo!
Only 5 years time difference. Remarkable transformations in their music and personal style.
If not ESPECIALLY Ringo. Always his own man.
Ringo was the oldest, but looked just as young and In good health and the rest of them even till this day.
The Beatles played a big in my growing up in the sixties, the production of Sargent peppers was the pinnacle of my love for them.the days where warm and long, with the background of some of the best music ever produced. Regarding yoko ono, well who knows, she obviously played a big part in Lennon's life, and he was so much in love with her, and he was happy with her being around. Its so sad to see the look on Ringos and George harrisons faces, you could see there relationship and friendship was in the decline. The Beatles will live on forever.Tgank you for a very interesting and informative video.
George's song Beware of Darkness also mentions Weeping Atlas Cedars in last verse. I never knew it was talking about trees. Interesting bit of trivia.
I am glad you learned something new. That's really cool.
Thank you for this, it means everything Tittenhurst is a very special place to me, John Lennon is and always be my favorite , the Beatles all together on his estate, the photos are all fantastic, perfect love everyone,, I do have the book on Tittenhurst, 72 acres, if he and Yoko stayed there what would it be, I Miss John, so many trees , so much privacy, don’t know too much about the belt, the Beatles so amazing , and forever with us, Thank You, Steve
What a great video. I love the history of that place
23:34 George is standing in the next county over! Now that's some body language right there.
Wunderbar und danke!
John was SIMPING and couldn't tell OHNO to keep her place, and yes Lennon was rude in forcing her into his mates
TRES Cool
9:55 Damn, that's a scan I made back in in 1997. It was the first time I ever used a digital scanner. It's crazy that image hasn't been surpassed by a superior version by now. BTW, the source of the image was an issue of The Beatles Monthly book where it was printed sideways across the center pages. You can still see the magazine's "fold"as a horizontal line midway in the scan. I recall being proud that I noticed it was printed in reverse (a.k.a. mirror image) and I used PhotoShop (probably for the first time) to correctly flip it.
Very cool! I've searched everywhere and that's the best image that can be found anywhere online. Can you scan it again? Got any others? :)
Thanks!
Thank you very much for your kind support. I appreciate it.
The "sore nipples" happens to newly-nursing mothers. A common experience among many mothers of newborns.
When you look up no self awareness in the dictionary, you see Yoko's picture.
Low on smiles!
Yoko tried to weasel her way into the Beatles inner circle by setting her sights on Paul, but Paul rejected her from the onset. She then schemed her way to get next to John, and the rest is history. So many people attempted to approach all 4 of the Beatles, with hopes of gaining their trust and thereby becoming close to each member. Yoko had a game plan from the very beginning, and I'm fairly certain that if John had rejected her advances, she would have changed her plans and moved onto George and Ringo.
Strange History X: thanks for posting. In '73 John sold Tittenhurst Park to Ringo. He started Startling Studios there. Judas Priest recorded "British Steel" there and Def Leppard recorded their debut "On Through The Night"(1980) there. Cheers!🥨
Black Sabbath also recorded Mob Rules there
Well I’m 60 years old and was born bred and still live in Liverpool and that woman wrecked the band recited Johns life and as far as I’m concerned did the damage chapman just finished it off RIP homeboy we miss you xxx
John was obsessed i believe. Odd but there it is. His band, his rules maybe
Two thoughts.
1. I've always loved photos from this session.
2. I'm throwing a party when Yoko finally croaks.
There was actually one further photo session, around the next month, September 1969 when they were signing new record contracts. George Harrison unfortunately was missing because his mother was in the hospital with cancer. But three of the Beatles are in the photos and this is where John Lennon announced that he was leaving the group as well
That's great Beatle trivia! Thank you!
You can see the pics in the book "One Day at a Time" by Anthony Fawcett
You can feel the tense atmosphere between the Beatles in these photos. I think Yokos constant presence annoyed the others, but I don’t blame her I blame John. He was probably doing it deliberately to piss off Paul. I think any of us would join in on the shoot if we were invited lol
Geoege was barely talking to anyone at this point talk. I read these sessions were very tense and not fun at all .
It's interesting because it was a very historic time for the band. Lennon told Paul he was officially quitting the Beatles on Sept 20, 1969. This being only 1 month before, one can only imagine what they were talking about. They had to be discussing who would become their next business manager. If someone could read lips maybe they'd see some interesting comments.
I blame their lousy security , John's driver should have stopped her from getting into John's car. She got into John's car , with Cynthia in the car with John . What if she had a weapon?
@@Jay-vr9ir John's driver should have thrown her across the car park.
@@beatlesrgear YES! He should’ve thrown out that dragon lady Yoko … is it true John was going to Divorce Yoko before he died?
I also love the photoshoot they did together for The Ballad Of John And Yoko picture sleeve
Linda was really good looking! ❤
This is another wonderful video! This one features the final photo shoot of the Beatles. Historic! Little Mary (named after Paul's mother) was really ready to pop out of Linda! Other than the extended rant about Yoko, which at this point I don't think is very necessary, it's a lovely collage of beautiful photos and the narration provided fascinating information. Congratulations on a wonderful job!
There is a lot of sadness in their eyes by this time. That's clear to see.
some say yoko was ensuring the other beatles could not slip a word to John about her possible ulterior intentions.
Pretty sure the ghost of a Thomas Holloway would have hated Yoko Ono in his house. And let’s not forget, John Lennon’s Aunt Mimi used to call Yoko, ‘that evil dwarf’. Best description ever I’ve heard of her. Accurate. Yoko Ono was able to manipulate Lennon becos she was so much older than Lennon. The 60’s wasn’t really Yoko’s era, nope she was already 27 when she met Lennon, and married…she was actually young back in in the 1950’s. She was an oldie hangin around 1960’s young ppl. And that’s what creeps me out about her too. She’s predatory.
Thank you for sharing. Great pictures.-I’ve been in a lot of bands I am a musician mainly the drummer. I always tell people being in a band is like being married you have to put up with everybody’s stuff.-I never liked when my friends would bring their wives in and just sit there gloaming face it would bring the morale down Yoko never rocked out never had fun in the studios, didn’t understand music. It was not her music I think that she should’ve never been inside the studio and that was always a beetle rule. John broke the rules and messed up the morale inside the studio and you can see Chuck Berry’s face when he heard Yoko sing. Well we don’t call it that but you know what I mean.❤
These were really great photos...they looked really cool when the hair and beards arrived and got longer
My thoughts on Yoko being in so many pictures of the Beatles, antagonizing. I'm surprised she wasn't in the Abby Road crosswalk photo.
This is my favorite look for them: John, George, and Ringo bearded and shaggy. Paul, having shaved his beard that he had during the Let It Be sessions, is recognizable as Paul. I have a T-shirt from one of the photos from this shoot.
This was just a couple of weeks after the Abbey Road album cover shoot on August 8, 1969. It is quite amazing how young they really were; all of them not yet thirty. If you look at the photos they seem annoyed with each other. George glares at John and Paul at times. John for his part, had probably already decided to leave the band, as he announced his decision to Paul the next month. The public announcement was made in April, 1970. What an amazing thing that their swan song was the masterpiece, Abbey Road, which was actually they recorded and released a month after this, before Let It Be.
Great documentary and classic photos ! We all love The Beatles and their music is eternal! Thankyou !! 👏❤️💎💎💎💎
❤ Thank you for this. I ❤️ the floor plans. My favorite photo of them is on the WWWay.
Clearly there was a cost to John’s insistence that Yoko be in so many photos. The rest of the band didn’t feel nearly as inclined to do the same with their partners- not out of disrespect but simple decorum. John was breaking away from his lifelong partnership with Paul - and this is part of how he went about it. Obviously John felt he needed Yoko in all these pics and Yoko certainly could have declined. But she didn’t and I’m not sure I blame her. Do I wish they hadn’t broken up? I don’t know. I wish they had gotten back together and I choose to believe they might have had John lived long enough. Also, I think you can see George’s growing disenchantment from the group in many of these photos. And I don’t blame him, either. This band did more in ten years of record making then most musicians do in forty.
I tend to agree with your surmise about Yoko's 'omnipresence': John utilized that presence as a foil against his bond with Paul & the band. He didn't have the strength to just walk away, which is actually quite understandable given the circumstances.
Yoko had a plan from the beginning. She claimed not to know anything about the Beatles and John fell for that, thinking it was cool. I think she thought manipulating John would make her famous and it did, but not for her silly excuses for art .crazy ideas or singing. Just because she got John to bring her everywhere with him and annoy the others. In fact John's insistence on hiring Allen Klein was due to a promise Klein made to give Yoko's so called art an exhibition.
Yeah she was a manipulative psychopath that ran a cynical con on John, and he was unfortunately naive enough to be taken in by it. He was incredibly susceptible to being manipulated with several famous examples, a real liability.
She even tried with McCartney at first, but he didn't response and so she went for Lennon, acting like a real stalker for months. Many fans are still in deny, like "oh they were a beautiful couple", but history is getting clearer and clearer now. It's obvious (even on these photo shoots) she wanted her piece of the Beatle cake. She acted awfull with John's first wife and son. I can't see how anyone could consider her as a nice person with all the available information now.
Great picture beatles wewww galing ng porma ambell ang pantalon
No, Yoko shouldve had the common sense to stay home when John went to work. It wouldve been a totally different atmosphere if she did. Sure, itys ok to stop by and say hi,
and bring John Lunch or whatever, not be up his ass from morning till night! Im surprised The Other 3 didnt tell John to keep his wife at home!.. And when George walked off,
she started getting on the MIc and shouting her songs... The other 3 played along. I bet, if there was room up on the roof, she wouldve sat right next to John!
John shouldve stayed here instead of moving to New York. Hire a few Bodyguards to protect them...I know The Dakota is a nice place to live but, come on, look at Tittenhurst Park.. Its Gorgeous! the land alone is gorgeous! I would Never give up this place for the Dakota! John was a very smart man but, sometimes he wasnt using his brains...
"🎶 Imagine no possessions...... 🎶"
“Working class hero” 🤣
From the clothes they wore i can tell this is when they got the pics taken for the hey jude album. I’m glad to see when it was taken and why they look so different from the abbey road and let it be covers.
Great photos of my favorit band!

Thank you so much for creating and uploading this😮
It's my pleasure
I’ve always loved these photos from that shoot. The cover of the Hey Jude album has always fascinated me.
As for Yoko - she’s always been a great self promoter, and John wanted her there. J&Y should have stayed there and never left for New York.
I feel the same looking at that why go to the grime of New York. They actually went to NY to look for Yoko's daughter.
Yoko made him move to New York. She always gets her way. @@bigsixtyseven
John and Yoko loved New York because it was the cultural and creative hub of the world. John said he felt comfortable there because people generally respected them and gave them space in public. Sure, there’s an obvious upside to the notion of Lennon never living at The Dakota, but there could’ve been major downsides to that, as well. Speculation about such things is ultimately pointless.
They would have gotten him no matter where he lived.
@@crusheverything4449 I regard London as the cultural and creative hub of the world.
Most of what's come out of NYC is filthy trash.
Why isn’t there a book of these incredible pictures? I would love to have all of them!
It is a mystery why Apple doesn't produce more stuff for their fans of real quality. They just like to keep repackaging the same stuff over and over again, and sell them plastic crap made in China. Sad to say but Paul or Ringo or Yoko or Olivia simply don't care enough to give the fans what they want. And it's not like they can't ask us. They can. And we will tell them.
George mentions "Weeping Atlas Seaders" in his song 'Beware of Darkness" on his "All things must pass" album. I wonder if this is what hes refering to? 🤔🤔
"Weeping atlas cedars" i think.
