I love how Teagarden gives this enigmatic piece a little earthiness. Composer Reginald Foresythe, most famous for the widely recorded "Serenade For a Wealthy Widow," wrote some extremely interesting music in this period. His name was sometimes mentioned with Ellington's, because of the tone poem quality in his work, which can be found, too, in Duke's. Unlike Ellington, Foresythe fell on hard times and died in obscurity.
Arranged by Adolph Deutsch. Solos, mostly in breaks: Roy Bargy-p, Mike Pingitore-g, Teagarden Bros.-t-tb, Frank Trumbauer-as, Bullets Cordaro-cl. Recorded in NYC, July 9, 1935.
Thank you for keeping this music alive
Happy to do what I can. Glad that you're enjoying the presentation.
