Between this video, your conspiracy theory videos, and the whole "aliens in the Miami mall" thing, I'd really love to hear your commentary on the theories about aliens living in Antarctica and the alien portal in Antarctica.
Funny thing is, I'm crying over how innocent we come across for doing this attempt to communicate; that we give the aliens far more credit than we should for having become or remained peaceful instead of the arrogant, homicidal idiots that we still are. The big gun or the good package?
Totally agree. every aspect of life on our planet competes for resources. Why would anyone think the rest of the galaxy is any different? Aliens are full stop for humanity, see ya. find us in the fossil record.
Yeah we need to stop broadcasting our location in the universe and sending messages with the assumption that any intelligent life out there will be peaceful, especially when we don’t have anything to countermeasure any potential threats…
For us to have any kind of semi reasonable two way communication with Aliens that are about as advanced as us, the aliens would have to be living within a handful of light years at most.
Well since we're not broadcasting any messages at FTL speeds it's doubtful the first message sent has even made it to our nearest neighbour, let alone somewhere 25000 light years away FFS.
I feel like any Alien species that is advanced enough to hear and interpret our message, and then REACH us afterwords will most likely have advanced so far as to not NEED anything from us they couldn't get in literal abundance anywhere else. One could maybe also argue that the fact they spent any time bothering with the message at all would also signify they don't see us as too far beneath them.
The taste of human meat, tainted by the fear of being hunted for sport and game.they may simply see us as a potential future rival, and glass earth to save themselves. Humans have done it, so, it's not beyond the realm of possibility.
Radio is useless for interstellar communication. Ignoring the safety aspect (anyone can listen in), it's just not efficient at its intended use thanks to the inverse square law. Our terrestrial radio signals become indistinguishable from background noise before they leave the solar system. Same goes for any aliens using the same technology. You'd have to send a focused radio signal with massive amounts of power in order to have a coherent message across hundreds or thousands of light years. This isn't particularly useful for programs like SETI as aliens aren't going to be using inefficient radio waves to communicate over those vast interstellar distances. Heck, even we humans have begun moving away from radio to communicate with our satellites and instead use lasers due to the increased bandwidth it offers.
Imagine if we got a message back asking for aid. Sending out messages feels like a poor choice like an rpg character taking on side quests that are far above our capabilities as a species currently.
The interesting thing is that everything we experience is actually a human construct of our own understanding. What if not all entities that MAY be out there don't think in the same way that we do?
I know my uncle Roy Lee was less eloquent when he communicated with the aliens. As I recall all he could get in was "you're bout to put that where?!" before he woke up naked in a cornfield 4 counties over.
Simon: I am curious, is there a reason you only use the one jacket on all of your channels? Is it special to you, or just never got aroused to getting more than one jacket?
If you haven't read the first 2 books of the 3 body problem please do so and you'll have an answer to why we should be quiet. Don't read the 3rd book. Spoilers ahead I warn you: the main character literally dooms almost all of humanity by doing the obviously wrong thing.
Now that laser communication has been tested recently why not start sending messages via that medium? It would be way faster to reach points of interest.
as much as im deperate to *KNOW* in my lifetime if we are really alone out there....im also kinda scared about shouting into the darkness, that we are here....because, we dont know who might see us 🤫
Too much effort too soon. Send them the numbers 1 through 10 - draw a circle - ifentify the circle's radius and diameter using the above numbers - then identify pi. (3.14159) They'll put it together and send back their symbols that express pi, and we're off and running. If they're talking to us they will recognize the mathematical anomaly of pi.
@eadweard. Oh! I'm not a math guy here. The only real point I had to make was that I think Pi can be an interstellar Rosetta Stone. "How," I probably shouldn't have offered. It just seems to me that if we were going to start somewhere, Pi would be the visual to use to associate like symbols.

That's the urge he feels as a British man, but the script was written by Kevin who demonstrated the American sentiment of killing things, claiming the resources, and the land as its own
My friend gave me a commemorative box made by Warner Bros. for the golden record. It contained a gold CD and a book describing the project and what's on the record. The problem is that the images/sounds are contained within a GRASP multimedia file and the player was designed for MS-DOS and won't run in Windows, even in a command prompt window. I've found a GRASP player online but that won't work either. Anyway, the digital files are useless but anyone will be able to read the book years from now.
When the Pioneer plaques were shown to the public, people had a lot of fun figuring out ways that the aliens could completely misunderstand the message. For example, aliens who don't understand perspective drawings might look at the diagram and conclude that the female human is firing darts out of her left shoulder.
For anyone that might be interested, the channel UpamdAtom did a fun video on the Arecibo Message where she decodes it as if we're trying to understand a message received from space. It's a great video from a wonderful channel 😁

Maybe by future humans who have colonized other planets and forgot about Earth once being habitable.
