Why does no one show what the opening technique is for. Same with Rohai Kata the two steps with both hands at Hikite? People tell me all sorts of excuses, it's simple they haven't got a clue what it's about.
Taylor Bee here how I loom at it: the people of Okinawa needed a form of weaponless combat right? So here's where the kata comes in. Its a way for them to hide their techniques this was useful when the Japanese had invaded okinawa
La escuela ruey ryu es muy buena , me parece que el bunkai que ellos ponen aquì oculta el verdadero bunkai de la familia ruey ryu , es una lastima!

And the some of the bunkai are straight snippets from kung fu. There's some Baiji and Mantis boxing there as well as crane.
