On some rivers the states plant salmon. The hatchery salmon have the adipose fin clipped to show that they were born at a hatchery. It is also used to tell the fish apart from wild salmon which on certain time of year and on certain rivers illegal to keep. If you would like to see the difference between hatchery and wild look at the last fish compared to the fish compared to the fish they kept.
@@juanmast9999 thanks for the info. I've seen them clip the fin, but I wasn't aware of the on off year for a legal catch and keep. Assuming their excitement is an indication this is a "keeper" season.
