I only recommend reading Firekeeper’s Daughter first because Warrior Girl Unearthed takes place ten years later and for timeline sake of seeing where characters are it makes sense. But reading out of order is also totally okay! 😊
children of blood and bone: the covers are different based on the magic type the person has access to. theres a few buzzfeed type personality quizzes you can take to see which magic type you might be I LOVED it when I read it, but then I read the red queen right after, and I was like "hold up... these are the SAME BOOK!" like so similar! one was white people in feudal castle kinda setting, typical fantasy setting. and then blood and bone was tribal Africa version of the same story. same romance set up that was ridiculous in both books, same general thing from start to finish. I was stunned.
I have really been getting into reading more fantasy this year too. Also, I loved Binding 13. It ends kinda on a cliffhanger so you will want to read Keeping 13 soon afterwards.
expiration dates. started it just randomly when I saw it on everand and decided it was fate telling me it was time. flew thru it! I feel like it's still in her 'one Italian summer' era vibes, vs her 'dinner list' / ' in five years' era.
Im actually reading Someone in The attic and Swan Song right now! Amanda get your box of tissues ready when you read Expiration Dates 😭😭😭I was completely blindsided by the ending.
@laurandareads it's a bit slow but am hoping it picks up .I started that one and Swan Song around the same time and am much further along with Swan Song.Definitely would be my first choice out of the two
Amanda, Kristin Hannah has a special edition at barnes and noble coming out for the nightingale. its pretty, nice sprayed decorative edges, and a ribbon marker.
My top top TOP books that I want to read this year are: RED RISING (truly years in the making but I've actually finally started it and am enjoying!!), The Winners (#3 in Beartown series), How High We Go in the Dark, finish the ACOTAR series (I've only read #1 so far but really am tired of missing out hahaha). I also want to read Parable of the Sower! You two have great lists for this year!
blood over bright haven: its on my THIS YEAR tbr also. I haven't heard anything bad about it, and the sword of kaigen is similarly super loved by everyone, so it feels like a safe pick
Suggest reading/finishing the ACOTAR series following along with the Graphic Audio. It’s like a movie with the special sound effects. May go by faster for you too and feel less intimidating. 😊
@@laurandareads yup! Just look for GraphicAudio in the image. A GraphicAudio book has a full screen cast. A traditional audio book has 1-2 narrators. Let us know if you try it! I think you’ll love it.
I really, really like Kristen Hannah. Have almost all her bks. The Nightingale is probably my favorite. I know lots of readers who did not like Tomorrow, Tomorrow and Tomorrow including me. I would like to read more fantasy this year also. Thanks!
I'm not sure if either of you have audible but binding 13 is on there for free right now. I don't know how long it will be on there but last I looked it was still free
Amanda you still haven’t read Throne of Glass?! It’s a must read! Please please read it. And I also hope you love One Dark Window. I thought it’s way better than the second book.
i want to read binding 13 and TT&T(or whatever it's called) I'm just very slow....its taking me "forever" to read Cassandra Clare but i'm 72% in the first Lady Midnight
I DNF’d One Dark Window I just couldn’t get into it. I read Red Rising but didn’t love it. Maybe I’m just not a sci-fi girl. Expiration Dates, The Return of Ellie Black, and Reckless, are on my 2025
Hey girlies, I usually don’t comment, but this I would love to share so you can make your own informed decision. The author of Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow is a known supporter of genocide. This author has also been called out for plagiarism. The game in the book is created by Brenda Romero and Romero was not credited at all for this. The irony of all of it is Romero’s husband is mentioned in the book. So it all feels a bit icky. Anyway, I’m not here to shame or hate. I’m just here into information and at the end of the day reading is political. Love the videos ❤
parable of the sower. someone on BookSky just sent a screen shot of that book and it was SO RELEVANT to now. *shooketh* ive read KINDRED by her, and it was RIDICULOUSLY GOOD! but it was also SO HARD TO READ! like every page I was like "ok... eliot... you can do this... you are emotionally prepared for the PURE TRAUMA that is coming... *Deep breath,.... turns page.... bursts into tears*
Omg wait let me follow you on Bluesky I don’t have anyone on mine yet!! @itslaurenalexis And omg I’ve heard good things about kindred but idk if I’d be able to read it 😭
Amanda.... dude... one dark window... LETS GOOOOOoooooo.....!! I was talked into reading it, kicking and screaming to resist, and it was SO GOOD! im not a romantasy person, but it was great! an interesting magic system that IS NOT too complicated and it does NOT leave you like "....wait... WHAT???" theres the perfect amount of world building. theres no HUGE 25 page info dumps making you wonder if you are supposed to remember all that. it feels like a further step towards general fantasy from fourth wing. like just a TAD more typical fantasy in comparison. perfect next step! im just SO ANNOYED that I did NOT buy the special barnes and noble edition in time! I went one day, and they had a huge display still... so I waited... caved in to go next day... GONE! ALL OF TEXAS WAS EMPTY! I even checked places friends live around the US so I could just pay for them to ship it to me, lol! I did get TWO copies of book 2... cause I didnt see there was already one in the cart when I put the order in.. oops. then it was on eBay for $75 each, and I just refused... then it went to $125, then $250! and NO ONE had a copy on pango. *dramatic collapse*
I am focusing on having fun with reading this year. I do have a list of what I want to read, but no pressure.
That’s how we are feeling too!
I love that you guys read backlist books because I'm a book thrifter so I'm not often getting things that just released.
We are hardly ever reading new books since we have an endless physical tbr 😭🤣
I only recommend reading Firekeeper’s Daughter first because Warrior Girl Unearthed takes place ten years later and for timeline sake of seeing where characters are it makes sense. But reading out of order is also totally okay! 😊
I wish I would’ve seen this prior to reading it!! I definitely need to read fire keepers daughter now!
Red rising is definitely on my tbr this year!!
Winter Garden has been my favorite story. It's one of those that sticks with you.💜
SCYTHE: just a reminder, illumicrates special editions of the series are coming jan 28th, 9am our time.
Binding 13 is so good Amanda and Lauren

Ooooo okay I’m excited to start it now!! I will have to take the quiz afterwards and see if I chose right lmao

The bluest eye was absolutely heartbreaking but very humanizing and important: I think everyone should read it

There is a prequel to the Mrs. Parrish series called The First Shot. It's a short novella. It's on Kindle Unlimited.
Ooo thanks for telling me, I’ll definitely be reading that!
@laurandareads Your Welcome!
Im actually reading Someone in The attic and Swan Song right now! Amanda get your box of tissues ready when you read Expiration Dates 😭😭😭I was completely blindsided by the ending.
How are you liking someone in the attic?!

That’s my favorite of hers!! I might need to keep an eye out for that!
the last mrs parish. Amanda, you should do a comparison video of the two books when you've read it! or at least a short :D
expiration dates: I love me some Rebecca Serle(without heather graham as the narrator... ) so im reading it for sure!

Omg!! Where do you get the graphic audio?
@ I got it via the Libby App. It’s a free app that basically serves as an extension of your local library offering eBooks and Audiobooks.
Omg we love libby! Had no idea they had these

I know I’m so late 😭 I can’t wait to read both!
I'm not 100% sure if this is a cozy fansty but if you have not read it I would recommend The Spellshop Sarah Beth Durst
Oo I haven’t! I will have to look into this!
I'm reading The Dancing Girls so far so good.
Yay! Glad you’re enjoying it
Elin Hildebrand and her daughters book comes out in September 2025 ❤
Omg I can’t wait to read it!! 🥰
Please read binding 13 ASAP
We are going to read it In February!
For a second I thought the title was “25 books we’ve read in 2025” 😂
I’ve barely read the one 😭😅
Lol! Omg I wish 🤣

Y’all have to read Beautiful Ugly!!! (BOTM has it)

acotar, lauren, are you going to "upgrade" yer copies to the black versions that came out?
I don’t think so :/ im not obsessed with them
